Great vacuum for everything except heavy carpets.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was anxious to unbox the new Rocket Complete Upright Vacuum with DuoClean, because I wanted to see how it compared to my trusty “D” vacuum that I’ve had for years. At first glance it was very impressive, coming with four different attachments, several of which have brush add-ons. After a quick glance at the manual, I fired it up with the default motorized floor nozzle. I like the fact that the unit has both a soft roll and a brush roll, along with a two-speed selector switch. Because the unit is so light, it didn’t seem to have enough cleaning power on the rug which my dogs leave rawhide bits on constantly. I think some extra weight in the nozzle unit would help. It did clean well on bare wood floors. Also, I have not gotten used to the feel of pushing this unit, as it very different than a standard vacuum. The head pivots, and I haven’t gotten used to steering it yet. However, I really like using the unit with the attachments on the wand. It worked great on my painted staircase, and the extra-long cord made it much easier to do the whole staircase. The variety of attachments is very nice, including a very long, thin tube for cleaning under your appliances! You can also use the attachments directly on the motor section, without the long wand, making it perfect for tight spaces and especially for use in the car. The vacuum appears to have very good suction, and the dust cup is very easy to empty. There is a filter on top of the motor that is very easy to access for cleaning. I think this will be a great addition to my current vacuum, but I don’t think it could replace a standard full-size vacuum. I still can highly recommend it though, as it is very good at what it does.

Impressive!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a great vacuum for what it's intended to do. My house has carpet, tile, and mostly pergo laminate flooring. The laminate collects dust quickly. This vacuum has 2 rollers, 1 soft and 1 hard brush type ruler. The soft roller does an amazing job picking up dust without kicking it everywhere. Though it has a small canister, the suction is as powerful as you'd expect from a shark vacuum. It is very light which is its main selling feature. Instead of carrying your big upright you can use this one. However, inks toy have a small place, don't expect this to fully replace your upright unless you're willing to change the filter often. The reason for the 4 starts instead of 5 is that while in upright mode,it won't stand on its own due to the motor and canister part being at the top. Shark could have put wheel locks or designed the motor to be attached to the roller and made it more stele as an upright. However, I have never seen a more flexible vacuum before. It can get around corners, under beds easily, and even comes with an attachment for vacuuming under appliances! There are many other attachments included as well as a wall hanging clip. I hung out on my kitchen as I believe it will see more use that way. I'd recommend this vacuum to anyone who wants convenience, knowing the intention is lightweight use and versatility but keeping in mind the small canister.

Nice Vac!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works great on wood floors as well as carpet. Very nice suction for both. Lots of attachments and they all work well with this vacuum. The only con so far for this vacuum is it will not stand upright on its own. It has to be propped. Stores well also.

Thoughtful design, suprising power
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vacuum seems to have been designed by people who actually use vacuum cleaners! It has the essentials to take the place of a standard upright at a very light weight. They compromise on how to store the accessories, but at least they gave it thought by having one clip-on accessory holder and a bag for the rest, and there's a hanging clip. The vacuum is super top-heavy, so you just have to pop off the motor part for storing it unless you hang it. Super easy. I've used it on carpets, floors, stairs, and upholstery. I really like how it's convertible to a hand-held. Just be careful with area rugs, because this is so powerful it'll pull the rug off of the floor! I have two big dogs and a cat, and so far this vacuum has been up to the challenge of pet hair and scattered cat litter.

It Really Sucks!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have two dogs, so I'm constantly vacuuming after them. This machine is a beast. The suction it has is amazing. I have a deep pile carpet, and this machine handles it very well. I have an older upright from another brand that starts with "D", and I feel this machine out performs it in almost every aspect. It's extremely versatile, and its very maneuverable. It easily gets under beds and furniture. It also worked really well when using it to vacuum out my truck with the attachments. I have about 750 sq ft of carpet, and I have to empty vacuum 2 -3 times when using it. This is the only drawback of the machine, but it's not that big of a deal.

Powerfull, Slick, but Heavy
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. In general this is a fine Vacuum, as compared to the popular alternative equivalent, it may be the right one for your. PROs: - Powerfull, there is no doubt that this unit has the power to move. Could argue that out of the box, it has more power then you can expect. On level 2, the unit pulls itself across the carpet, and really lives up to the "rocket" name - LED Light, the vacuum head is very well lit, you are going to see where you are going and see the mess on the floor before it gets sucked up - Suction power, on my initial usages it is cleaning the carpet and floor very good, without having to go over the area multiple times - Appliance accessory is a GREAT bonus, designed to allow you to easily get underneath your appliances to get rid of the dirt, that can damage them, may be worth the purchase by itself. - Easy to empty as well - Corded, you won't run out of power while you are using it. and has a fairly long cord Con: - Corded, even though it is a plus for run-time, it is a downer that you just can't pick it up off the wall and go with it anywhere. - Comes with 3 Small attachments, but can only store 2 of them directly on the unit, you will need to find a place to keep the third and not lose it. - The unit overall is HEAVY, for a single hand use item, it does have some weight to it. Not heavy to bring from room to room, but while you are using it, you will feel it in your arm. - Almost TOO powerfull. On level two, on my carpet, this unit was RACING across it... I had to knock down to level 1 -

Worst vacuum ever!
||Posted . Owned for 11 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is the worst vacuum I have ever purchased. It's less than a year old and we are constantly taking it apart cleaning it out, does not suck up anything. Cat litter, or pet hair, small pieces of paper. it does nothing. Literally fixing to throw it away. I hate that I spent this much money on it.

Well designed, well executed!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Rocket Complete arrives disassembled with 3 main components which are quick and easy to assemble. The handle houses the motor, large capacity dust cup and filters. It also separates from the unit to become a standalone handheld vacuum. The base of the vacuum houses 2 separate rollers. One with brushes to deep clean carpets and one soft smooth brush to clean hard floors. All of the filters and brushes are easily removed for regular maintenance and cleaning. Both the base and handheld components have bright lights to illuminate the floor in front of the vacuum. The motor has 2 speeds, a low speed recommended for hard floors and a high speed recommended for carpets. The cord is a very generous 30 feet long and wraps easily around the provided storage hooks so as not to get in your way. The vacuum also comes with accessories such as a very unique and useful L shaped attachment for cleaning under appliances and cabinets. There is also one for upholstery, pet hair and a crevice tool. A storage bag for the attachments is also included. In addition you get a clip to hang an attachment onto the vacuum and a storage hook if you should decide to hang the vacuum on a wall. If you don't want to hang it, the handheld comes off the top and clips onto the base of the vacuum to give it a smaller footprint when storing. But how does it clean? Well, we received the vacuum the day after we had cleaned our floors so we didn't expect much. But to our surprise the Rocket Complete picked up a substantial amount of dust, much of which was very fine dust. The vacuum was very light and maneuverable. Sharp turns were made easily and the bright onboard lights made it easy to see. I also found that L shaped attachment worked great under my couch. The motor was powerful in both speeds, and to my delight, operated at a modest volume. Our previous vacuums were so loud I had to wear ear plugs. I highly recommend this product.

Powerful and maneuverable, but not for everybody
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark Rocket Complete Upright Vacuum is a decent performing vacuum with a few caveats. What I like about this vacuum is that it’s narrow and swivels around corners, making it very easy to reach spots that were not possible to reach before without moving furniture or having to resituate the vacuum in a very odd position. For example, turning around corners or navigating between chair legs is much easier with this vacuum. However, due to its narrow composition, it doesn’t cover as much surface area. That being said, the DuoClean certainly reduces the number of redundant sweeps across the same surface. That’s because this vacuum uses both a bristle brush and a felt brush to help pick up both hair and dust. I have found it to be quite effective. This vacuum also doubles as an above-floor vacuum for those hard-to-reach places—such as ceiling corners, upholstery, dusty shelves, etc. While I’ve only tested some of this functionality, the vacuum did not displease me. One thing to notice is that this vacuum is top-heavy. That means that it will fall over unless you have it hanging up or have it leaning against something. Additionally, the amount of drag this vacuum has is substantially more than any other vacuum I’ve used. Which means that since you’ll likely be pulling back towards yourself when you use this vacuum, the vacuum does provide resistance and a bit of arm arm/wrist workout. If you have arthritis or are susceptible to carpel tunnel, I wouldn’t necessarily advise this vacuum, as you’ll be rotating your wrist quite a bit to swivel floor unit, and you’ll be holding a fairly top-heavy unit. Needless to say, it’s not exactly easy on your arm compared to more traditional vacuums that are bottom-heavy. The cleanup process is also quite easy, as you can release the dirt and dust from a small chamber with the press of a button. Both floor-unit brushes can be ejected from the unit with a few buttons, as well. Shark provides a hair-removal tool (i.e. plastic blade) to remove hair from the bristle brush. This part is practically ingenious, as there is a groove across the brush where you can slide the hair-removal tool. It cuts the hair from the brush, and makes cleanup a lot easier than traditional brushes. I found that the plastic tool allowed me to collect the hair, and I used a real blade to cut it, as the plastic tool was not as effective. Overall, a quality product from Shark.

Gets the Job Done with Style
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For better or worse, I have an obsession with vacuuming. The two things that bug me most are when vacuums can't get pieces of debris on the edge by the wall, and hair getting stuck in the roller. This vacuum gets those little frustrating edge-dwellers and leads to a much more positive experience than most of the competition. The roller seems to stay much cleaner longer than most, leading to longer stints before having to clean. Overall, the vacuum has great performance and makes the job simple and quick. Great product!!

Versatile, Good Clean, Awkward Weigting
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is a very good vacuum. I like it as a 2nd portable model, but not main stand-alone vacuum for my whole house. I liked the Shark Rocket. It cleans well, has many attachments (not all held on the vacuum but in provided accessory bag), and can fit in many areas. If you are used to a typical upright vacuum like me this will feel a little awkward at first but after getting used to the different balance I imagine it well feel more comfortable. It is more like a portable/handheld vac than an upright but it does not work on battery, only plug. This vac is great for smaller spaces (area rugs, hallways, stairs, closets). The small head (about 8"x8") would take you a while to do a large carpeted room or floor. It also does not seem to have the same suction power you would expect out of a typical upright vac-which is why I would keep this as a 2nd vac for smaller/difficult areas. The vacuum fan, most parts and bulk of the weight are held at the handle and can be detached from the wand/base for handheld use or storage. The wand can also be detached from the base to use with attachments for added reach. So it is very versatile. One complaint my wife had was the fan/exhaust blow directly back at you from the handle and can get warm.

Powerful Rocket!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is personally my second Shark vacuum first of this type, but forth if you count family members. I first tried Shark in 2011 when I was looking for a new vacuum and couldn't be believe all the positive reviews for it so I decided to try one and have had one ever since! The Rocket line of vacuums are literally a do everything vacuum. The versatility of this vacuum is great it lets you easily clean baseboards, cobwebs from corners and switch from carpet to hardwoods without doing anything besides pushing a button. If you have a large area to clean this would be better suited as a backup or companion vacuum to a larger one. If you live in a small apartment/house (1200/1300/sf) this could be your only vacuum and serve you well. Pros: Extremely powerful Lightweight Versatility Quiet Cons: Small dust bin

Happy wife sounds tell the story!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Have you ever heard the high pitched, involuntary, little girl giggle of pure heaven that the women in your life make when something truly exciting and satisfying excites their senses? That is the sound my wife made the first time she used this vacuum. Me, on the other hand, don’t tend to get too excited about vacuum cleaners regardless of shape, size, or gimmick. I’ve owned traditional uprights and shop vacs from various manufactures over the years, including Shark. After using the Rocket, I have to admit, I too smiled to myself. I didn’t make the little girl, giddy sound. Not that I could if I wanted too. But it did get the job done, was easy to move around the room, picked up all visible dirt, and left me with a greater overall experience than my traditional Shark upright does. I was really impressed when I was able to lay the whole vacuum parallel to the floor and clean under my futon. Normally, I have to move it out of the way. It saved me a lot of time and reduced the risk of the futon’s legs scratching my floor. The Rocket is versatile. I can remove the handle and use the attachments to meet different needs around my house. I can attach the waste bin/motor housing to the pet multi-tool and clean the cat fur off my pillows and then use the upholstery tool to pull the dirt off of my leather couch without leaving any marks. I can detach the vacuum head and use the pole as a wand to get too hard to reach, high places. And the under appliance wand is pure genius! I think my wife made two happy sounds when she was able to vacuum under our stove without having to move it! The Rocket does feel really good in my hand and my wife’s hand. It is not balanced enough to stand upright on its own. So, be careful when you let the handle go. You may bruise a toe or damage your floor. And don’t be cleaver and lean it up against the wall. It will still fall over. But the weight is in all the right places for exceptional control when in hand. The pivot on the head is excellent! I cannot praise this enough. Maneuverability has been an issue with every vacuum I’ve owned. This one is done right. It is easy and effortless to move this around corners and furniture. When you want to store it, simply remove the motor and mount it to the bottom of the wand and head. Or, if you really want to minimize the storage space, the unit does come with a simple wall mount which allows the Rocket to hang flat against the wall of any room you want. My suggestion is to replace the drywall anchors with something more substantial. The included wall anchors seem a bit underwhelming for the weight they need to handle. Not everything is all peaches and cream. This is an excellent product if you us it specifically for what it was designed for: light housekeeping, spot cleaning of high traffic areas, and quick cleanings. The reason I say this is that the dust bucket on the handle looks fairly large. The max fill line on the bucket is only half of the bucket. My wife’s first room with the Rocket was our 17 x 12 Livingroom. With furniture, the actual cleaning area is much smaller. We do keep a clean house so the amount of dirt should have been fairly light. She filled the bucket to the fill line within minutes. It is very possible that the Rocket did an amazing job picking up the dirt that our upright simply missed. And that may be the truth of the matter. But I feel that the bucket should offer more capacity for longer working time between bucket cleanings. My next gripe, and this is something I haven’t taken up with Shark yet, is that the wand does have a dent in it. This product is new, in box, and showed no signs of shipping damage. And yet it passed inspection from the factory with a dent. The damage does not impede the operation or performance of the product so I haven’t much of a stink about it. There is also a plastic clip that attaches to the wand to hold to accessories. The clip does leave a mark on the wand. I don’t really know why since the plastic is softer then the metal wand. Another thing I’ll be discussing with Shark shortly. My overall impression is that a lot of good engineering and innovation went into this product. At no time did this product seem overly gimmicky or overly engineered like some competitor products I’ve auditioned in at Best Buy. Every feature feels well thought out, useful, and simplified in form and function. Like I said at the beginning of this review, I don’t get excited about vacuum cleaners. This one did get a little smile out of me.

Powerful, easy to use, versatile.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum was well packaged, easy to assemble, and the usage and care directions were clear. We tried this out, straight from the box, on a rug in the living room and were blown away (no pun intended) with the results. The dual action cleaning rolls really lived up to the advertizing; after a once over from this vacuum, the rug looked brand-new. Cord storage and accessory types were pretty standard fare. The only downside was the noise that accompanies all of that suction power. It was really, really loud - like a leaf blower. So, I went to the garage, grabbed the "over the ear" noise protection that I use for lawn work and I was OK. This wasn't a deal breaker for me and the results from the vacuum are well worth the hassle of putting on the earmuffs.
