For years I used a Panasonic and had no problems until it "died." I find it difficult to understand how to use this oven and figure out the settings. As far as recommedndations I'd say "maybe."

Bought this as a replacement for a GE that died. Perfect size for our needs. Works great with just enough options. Didn't want to spend a lot and this fit the bill.

It's a great little microwave, easy to use...very happy with it.

I returned this after two weeks. Half the time the noise was very loud. Possible cause was defective turntable. The same weight item was used each time. Only the front feet have non skid pads. The back feet are sheetmetal. When you close the door, the unit slides back.

As a microwave it worked very well until it died. It was a replacement for an earlier model which had survived numerous moves over almost 20 years. After a mere 4.5 years, this died. And so began the dealings with Sharp support. ..............................

I bought this microwave at Best Buy in Feb of 2015 and the other day, it just stopped working. I believe it's the door switch (I'm pretty handy and have fixed many of my own appliances) but when looking for replacement parts on-line, I found that Sharp has discontinued most parts for this microwave except for the dish. So clearly, Sharp doesn't intend for their products to be maintained on a long term basis and I'm now on the market for a new microwave. What a waste... the microwave still looks brand new and my trash collectors will think I'm crazy for putting it on the curb. And yet, I have a Panasonic microwave in another home that's from the 90's and still going. So... if you're looking for something that will last more than 2 years, don't buy Sharp. I certainly won't buy anything made by Sharp ever again.

We've only had the microwave for one week, and it is already broken. After unplugging it once, the clock no longer programs and the '2' and '7' buttons are both not working. When you push the '2', it enters as a '4', when you push the '7', it enters as a '9'. Weird. After doing some research online, it looks like this is a problem that commonly pops up with this model, but usually just after the warranty expires. Thankful this happened so soon so that we can exchange it for a different brand!

Needed basic microwave, but for daily use. This is it! Affordable, efficient! Purchased for adult daughter who only cooks with microwave. She loves it!

I bought as a Christmas present, and by February, the microwave gave out. I returned it to buy another one exact model, and the same thing happened-it gave out in April. It was in constant use, but microwaves are made to use constantly. It must have been a defective model.

A great little microwave. Perfect for a dorm or small apartment.

Am enjoying my new microwave. Love to be able to fix a complete meal with the push of a button. Ain't life grand?

With the sale price on this and the staff wanted a larger one, this microwave was the best buy!

We bought for my mother. Perfect size for her situation. It has been doing an excellent job for her.

I gave this microwave five stars because we have owned this microwave for 4 years now and have never had a problem until now. It just recently started losing some of its cooking power, so it takes a little longer to cook than it did before. But we have been pleased with how well the unit has operated and how problem free it has been. Only now are we looking to replace it, but still using it today.

This is my 2nd R309-Y. Both will change from a high setting to a lower setting on it's own when steam builds up inside. Heat up some soup for a few minutes and put it back in for additional time on high and it switches to a med hi setting on its own. Customer service tells me that is how it is designed. I think that is garbage, I have never heard of a microwave deciding what setting it should be on. Both were built in the same year, sounds like an excuse. Does not do it for foods that don't produce a lot of steam and if unplugged and plugged back in it does not go to a lower setting. Won't by Sharp products anymore.

this is a basic microwave that gets the job done and it's also very easy to use.

I loved this microwave for the month that it worked. Then one day I got a burning electrical smell and it no longer heated food. The turntable would rotate but it just stopped cooking. I thought I had a lemon because so many rave reviews. So I exchanged it for another exact same model and out of the box the numbers 5-9 did not work at all. Returned it for a GE microwave. I would stay clear of this product!

Bought this 12 months ago worked good for 11 months easy to use, nice size. But continues to take longer and long to cook items. Example sometimes takes 4 mins cook bag of popcorn then next time take just under 2 mins. At this time worthless machine to cook anything. Use to microwaves lasting at least 5 years or more, got 10 years out previous 2 I have owned by different companies that no longer exist. Maybe that's way they don't exist anymore products where to good. Give this 2 stars because lasted 1year and easy of use.

For the price, this is a great little microwave. I do wish it was an 1100 watt oven, as I see that as a basic requirement for many frozen foods.

We just bought this microwave yesterday. We used it for the first time today. First couple times heating things 1 min were ok. First time heating something 6 min, it shut off after 3 min and the top was very hot to touch. Then we heated something for 2 min and it shut off after 1 min. Hot to touch. We got on this forum and saw that many people had the same issue. Sharp should be ashamed of themselves for not recalling this product. I am taking it back to best buy tomorrow and NOT buying another one of this obviously pieces of garbage or anything from Sharp for that matter.
