As advertised. Arrived quickly. Great sound and fills up my 1500 sq ft very well without static. I only would like it if the speaker wires were about twice as long to allow for the speakers to be set father apart.

I needed a mini-stereo CD AND cassette player as my old Aiwa with same components just wouldn't play the CDs anymore even after cleaning it.. Low and behold, I found that Sharp did make a mini-stereo that had both of these components. I love it! Hook up was simple. Attach speakers & antennae and plug into an outlet. It comes with a remote control, you can adjust the treble and the brass, and it will hold 5 CDs. It has the capability to have tv hooked into the sound system but I didn't need to do that. The sound is great and you can't beat the less than $200.00 price. It's awesome! Thank you Sharp for making a mini-stereo that plays both CDs and cassette tapes! You are a life saver!

This Sharp stereo is very nice for the price. It's a convenient size, sounds great & loaded with features...good bass & treble...FM reception is strong...cassette player...5 CD player (which is hard to find lately)...MP3 player hook-ups...USB port...sleep timer...etc. Everything I was looking for at a fair price. I hope the CD changer lasts for awhile.

Stereo very nice looking. Sound is great. We bought this for my dads 74th birthday because he needed a new one. However, having a terrible time getting AM/FM stations to tune in and he is all about AM/FM every morning. Caused a lot of frustrations today on his birthday and trying to figure out what we need to get the radio stations to work. Antenna that comes with it is not up to par at this time. Any suggestions would be great.

    good unit for the price

I was looking for a 5 CD shelf stereo as my RCA one did not hold up. Purchased this one after reading the reviews. The speaker wires are too short. But my husband is handy and soldered a longer wire to one speaker, sounds great. The tuner is sensative, it kept turning off after about 15 mins. So I called Sharp and they suggested that I move the unit for better reception, not happening. So I moved the antenna wire instead, works like a charm. So my suggestion is don't give up too fast on this unit. I also want to note that I live in a very rural area so reception is not the best in the mountains anyway. Looking forward to listening to hours of music from my CDs.

I love it. It replaces an old one just as compact. The sound is good and it's easy to use. Just wish the speaker wires were longer, so I could place them where I want.

Excelent sound quality, flimsy CD changer

We bought it as a replacement for our older shelve audio system by SHARP. We considered to buy Sony this time (MHCEC709IP), but when compared actual sound quality side by side, the choice was clear to stick with Sharp. This system has excelent sound quality. Sound is very clean and has impressive dynamic range - you can hear very well both loud sounds and those which are quieter in the background. The X-Bass feature is usefull for some music, but we personally liked it more when we just manually boosted both BASS and TREBLE. CD changer is suspicious as it is flimsy and you can easily break it. You have to get use to the remote too, but it provides all the functions you need. So far we are very happy with the purchase. 4 stars because of the CD changer, otherwise it would be 5 stars.

    Sonic bliss

It has a monster sound. Clear and crisp. The sound is like coming from the studio recording and even the miniscule or minutest can be heard. I have over 500 cds and the five disc changer works fine. It comes in a black finish and the LCD display is beautiful too. The only let down is the speaker cords are too short around 3 feet in length so no way it can be moved around the room apart from that it works fine. I have not put in full blast as not to arouse the neighbors but at volume 13, my room is already shaking. I have only used the cd player, and have not used the other features e.g. ipod, iphone, tuner etc. For now at 3 months I am so happy with it. Bear in mind that these equipment like cars have a certain life expectancy. The more usage the more wear and tear. So for now the price is just right for the stereo. You get what you paid for and at that price, it is worth it. Nice job SHARP!

I bought this to replace my boombox that I bought in 1990. Yes, 1990! I am very satisfied with this unit. The sound is great and the product has very good quality. The CD tray operation is loud I will say, but not a deal breaker. The only thing I'm disappointed with is the remote. It is not user friendly but again, not a deal breaker.

I've been going from store to store to listen first hand to the different shelf systems. This Sharp is outstanding. I could not believe the sound that this device produces. I cannot turn it up pass 12 without the neighbors banging on the walls. The sound is crisp, incredible, loud, and the base is fantastic. Glad I purchased it. LOVE IT!!!!

Sharp, it's a name brand that you really don't hear of that often, or at least I didn't. I assumed it was on the cheapie brands list to tell you the truth, but when I got a sample listen in the store I thought, not bad! The looks, the sound & the price sold me. I set it up on my bookshelf in which it fit just perfectly. I turned it on & was completely AMAZED at the sound this little Sharp put out!!!! I was even happier to find out I can plug my smartphone into the audio jack & play Pandora internet music as well. I defiantly recommend this system to all who are considering one. I am greatly impressed!!!!

This stereo system is a great buy & has a lot of features. I didn't think I was going to be able to find a stereo system with a cassette player, CD, ipod dock, and radio. Also, the speakers are very loud & good quality too.

Out of all the ones I tested with a cassette deck, this one was the best sounding of them all and my CD's sound great. I hope it keeps up! I LOVE IT! I would prefer if Sharp charged an extra $5.00 and gave me an extra 6-8 feet of speaker wire per speaker, but you cant have it all I guess.

There are some great features available in this stereo unit that are enjoyable to everyone including a cassette deck and the 5 disc changer which allows you to play cds back to back non-stop. It has a nice size to fit in a cabinet or a shelf. Our guests enjoyed this system and we plan to buy 2 for gifts. Please continue to carry - especially for most of us who have collections of tapes and cds that we wish to enjoy for years to come!!! ----- Great system!!!

I had read other reviews about the unit shutting down but most seemed positive about the product. So I decided to try it. I bought item as a birthday gift. It is a nice looking unit. CD and Cassette player played all night no problem and sounded great. Thought it was awesome. Had everything the person I bought it for was looking for. The next day we played nothing but the radio which, if you want to listen to the radio longer than 20 minutes, this is not the unit for you. Six times it shut off after 20 minutes. Three or four calls to technical support of RCA although they were very nice, they could not rectify the situation.. I am very embarrassed as it was a gift to a loved one. I will be returning the unit to the store tomorrow. Do not disregard those other reviews of shut down problems. They are true.

This was the only mini stereo that I could find that had multiple disk capability AND a Cassette player (you see, there are still some old people hanging on to their old fashioned cassettes). Both disk and cassette players work great and are easy to use; as is the radio. It also has an i-pad docking station...but I don't know anything about that.

    Powerful bookshelf system

This unit produces excellent sound, whether used with the included speakers, or connected to an external speaker system. The only negative is that virtually all the settings are accessible by the remote control only, and that control is very difficult to read. I am a computer systems integrator, yet found the logic of the controls to be a bit unconventional. Once past that hurdle, and after learning to cope with the fact that the Sleep Timer is prone to resetting itself to 10 minutes (even tho I have it disabled ...), it's all good.

I read the reviews, thought about making the purchase, and chose to go ahead and make the purchase regardless of the negative reviews I read. At first, I was thrilled with the product. Any reviews where the person complained about how you can't shuffle CDs (unfounded complaint--you CAN program the CDs to play in a certain order, though not a "shuffle" feature, per se); how the display won't shut off when you shut the stereo off (yes it will, if you program the time in and set the stereo up), and how some features didn't work correctly or not at all (another unfounded complaint.) Read the instructions--some features operate by using the remote control only). In summary, if you read the instructions, the stereo worked GREAT. For about a week. Then, one time as I was switching the CDs out, I gently bumped the CD door to #2.....and then the door wouldn't shut. It isn't like a PC where you can gently touch the CD door and it closes. Nope. If the door gets bumped even slightly (like I did), it gets off track. Since the stereo is programmed, the program locked up and it wouldn't....couldn't shut the CD door. As a result, and this is the fatal flaw in the whole system, THE ENTIRE SYSTEM STOPS WORKING. You can't listen to the other CDs, cassette, iPod, radio. Nothing. You can't even get your other CDs out of the stereo!!!! NOTHING WORKS. All because a CD door wouldn't close!?? Manufacturer says it is a program error and it must be repaired. I had the stereo for one week. As a result of bumping the CD door while it was closing, the stereo was completely inoperable. I returned the stereo and got my money back. The folks at Best Buy were wonderful. Don't think I will buy another product like this. If the programming is like this in all these shelf type stereos, and they lock up with something so simple as closing a CD door, than I don't have faith in the product. On the positive side, the stereo sounded GREAT. The complaints about the speaker wires being short is founded. I don't know if it would be possible to get longer speaker wire or not and there was no way to hook up more speakers. Minor flaw. I wish this stereo had not broken so completely and so easily. Good luck if you buy one. It will be a gamble.
