I shopped all over to find a stereo system for my father that not only plays cd's, but will also play his massive collection of tapes. This system fits the bill and also has the radio option. When playing tapes, there is a beautiful and concise sound, much nicer than you think you might get from a tape...actually has the same sound quality as a cd. Now for the bad: it is very hard to tune in many radio channels. The weird thing is after playing the radio for about 15 minutes, the stereo automatically cuts itself off....no warning, no reason. If we turn it back on, it just plays for another 15 minutes and cuts off again. I have to say I have never experienced this problem with any product....very strange. After reading some of the comments here, I see that we're not alone. I will try to adjust the antenna as suggested by another reviewer, but I'm not hopeful. Dad doesn't want to return the system.

FIrst off, I am an Apple user. So I love that I can connect my Iphone or Ipod to this system. Additionally, AM/FM works great on this radio in my area if put in the right spot in the bedroom. The volume is good, and I can connect my laptop too it. Placement of Ipod dock is sturdy and ideal. System can be tricky in some ways, but if you use your brain, it is simple and easy to use. Remote and buttons could be bigger, but it isn't that big of a deal.

Not sure why more manufacturers do not make these anymore. Sharp was not my first choice. Fortunately, my concerns were unfounded as this turned out to be an excellent stereo. Great sound and has a headphone jack that strangely seems to be missing from the Sony model, which was a deal-breaker for me.

I purchased this system a little over a year ago. It's been gently used and cared for. Without warning, the cd player just stopped working. For some reason, it doesn't recognize/ read the cds. Sadly, it will cost almost as much to repair then to purchase another. When it worked, I loved it. It's really too bad!!

I'm really happy with this unit except for the fact that when listening to the radion, the system cuts off after about 15 or 20 minutes. Has anyone else had this issue?

I bought this for my wife as a Christmas gift. I bought this unit because it had 5 disc changer and we wanted to random play 5 discs at a time. come to find out this unit will only random play one disc at a time, not all 5. makes no since to me to have a 5 disc changer that will only random one disc at a time. perhaps my unit is defective but i'll exchange for a single disc unit. also beware that the speaker cables are only 3 ft long, much to short for most set ups. other than that the sound is good and if not for the lack of random play functionality i'd splice the speaker cable to suit my needs and keep it.

We just brought one of these stero it play for 20 mintues shut off we took it back got another it doibg the same thing what should we do?

This stereo worked exactly as expected, nothing special but it does its job.

I ordered an Open-Box-Excellent. It arrived in a pretty beat-up original box with a missing top foam shipping protector. There was a one layer of bubble wrap on the top instead. The bottom one is fine. Inside, the item looked like it's been used to entertain at a painting job site. There were pieces of flak of removed paints in the box and powder on the boom box. Also, a retaining screw is missing on it's side. I haven't time to check all the functions yet. I would not have bought it without buying the extended warranty which I did. I've tested pretty much everything, which turned out just fine. Haven't tested the changer functionality. THIS REVIEW IS FOR AN OPEN-BOX-EXCELLENT ITEM.

Speaker wire is only 3 feet long & has a specialized connection that is not standardized speaker wire & has no adapter, so you can't make the speaker wire longer without splicing/going thru a bunch of work. Guess it may be a fine system if you want it all together, but, it seems for most set ups you want the speakers to be separated. Seems like a pretty basic design flaw that engineers could rectify if Sharp gave a darn. I returned it to the store.

When I bought this about 10 months ago I was interested in a stereo that plays multiple CDs. I didn't know there was such a thing as the ability to plug in a flash drive. The flash drive was great. I could go with that alone, now. In my stupidity, I threw away the receipt and never registered the stereo. I just assume things will work til a month after the warranty is gone. But this one didn't. First the cd and radio stopped working, then the flash drive. Would I recommend this to a friend? Yes, just register it and save the receipt.

I purchased this for my mother-in-law that still has lots of cassettes and CDs too. She has not and will not use the iPhone connection, but loves the stereo. The radio, cassette player and CD changer is great. The sound is great. She is very happy!

Nice looking system, good sound, but the radio cuts off after 15 minutes! Called Sharp, and they said "yep, that's a glitch in this system". Really? I bought this because I like to listen to the radio. It's going back.

Bought online, after reading an explanation of what open box means, I chose to try it. Big mistake,...I literally received an open box thru UPS! Discovered it was missing the remote! After a lot of phone calls and aggravation was finally able to pick up a "replacement" remote. Put in a new battery...DOES NOT WORK. Now, as for the stereo, I like it. It Sounds great and looks good. Black and beautiful. I want SHARP to send me a new remote.=)

Being a baby boomer, this is a great way to play my old stuff. I still don't have an ipod so I haven't used that option, but for the price, I can't complain. Oh yes, I can. I can barely see the controls on the remote, but it would have to be size of a phone book if I did.

The sound on the machine is excellent. The design is good and it looks great.The features are good a multi CD changer is great. Unfortunately I have exchanged this for the Fourth time and they all cut off in 15 minutes.It cuts off when the radio tuner is playing. All the other features seem to work quite well. I am so sad I coud not get just ONE that worked. It is obviously a defect.

Instructions seemed complicated but this stero does so much. Be patient and work through all options and you'll be very glad to have all the choices. I don't have an IPod yet but that will fit in to.

Was in line to purchase this product, until I looked on the side of the box. THIS IS ONLY FOR IPHONE 4 AND EARLIER MODELS. We have an iPhone 5 and because it uses a lightning dock, this would not work. Not for use with all iPods either. For IPads? I don't know, because by then I was so mad for sitting in that line forever that I left it on the shelf. I don't believe this has Bluetooth, either. Too bad. It was such a good deal too.
