    Imp'ossible directions for use

I just purchased a Sharp cd-dh950p cd player. I cannot wait to return it. The directions on use are impossible and don't bother trying to call Sharp. I waited 15 minutes and the gal hung up on me. I am now trying to shut the unit off. It keeps going. I guess I will just pull the plug. A total waste of my time. When it plays, it plays well, but way to involved to start, I loved my Sony. Am so sorry they do not make it anymore

    Don't believe the advertising

I have no idea what the sound quality is of this unit. I can say that it is physically attractive. The major downside is that the measurements provided, and the illustration on the carton, are based on the three components being placed side by side with no clearance. The instructions are adamant that there must be 4" of clearance on each side. As a result, I have a nice system that does not fit in my available space. Very disappointing -- this looks like a very good product....if I just had the space.

Product lasted 1 year 4 months (purchased 2/4/12).

While this product was working, we really enjoyed it daily. We purchased it because it did not take as much space as the separate components. Although I had to give training on the use of the remote control to family members, it worked very well. My biggest complaint is that no one seems to take pride in making a good product that lasts, but that this makers seem more concerned with making money. Although I prefer to focus on the good, bottom line is, I spent money on a Sharp product that did not last much longer than the warranty. This was my first Sharp product purchase. I have Toshiba and Sony products that have lasted 6-14+ years and will buy there brands from now on.

I bought this unit mainly for the disc player, but listen to a lot of radio. Problem was that the antenna that came with it is too short so you can't get FM station too well, working with the remote was a pain. Did not rotate. Would not buy this unit. It is a waste of money

    Vesatile Stereo, Great Value

I bought this as a gift for my daughter who has numerous CD's and some cassettes, along with her MP3 player. It's hard to find a stereo system that is still capable of playing all these different types of media... this stereo pretty much does everything I wanted. Great value for the price.

This is a decent value. The sound from CD's and FM radio is very good but it misses weak AM stations even with a powered antenna. I would buy it again.

    Disappointed with the speaker hookups

    Posted .

I like the my CD-DH950P cd player/iPod player very much, but was disappointed in the speaker hookups to the player. We use this unit for a line dance class in a church gymnasium so are constantly hauling it from home to church and hooking it up. If we keep it we will have to find bags to transport it back and forth. We are concerned that over time with connecting and disconnecting the speakers that the flimsy wires and plastic connectors will break off. We don't like that it is hard wired to the speaker and then just has what I would call plastic clips that connect to the player. Our old player had a cord with metal type plug ins on both the speaker and the player. How sturdy are these connections? Were they made to connect and disconnect multiple times and transporting it back and forth?

Hello Andy, I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with the speaker connections on your CD-DH950P. The speaker connections should have no problem with multiple disconnect and reconnects, as long as you are careful to pull on the connector and not the speaker wire. Sharp

    Don't waste your time/money

I bought this in February 2012 and it was completely dead by New Years Eve. Since it was only used in my guest room about 2-3 times per month, it was used at most 30 times. The first problem was in November, when it would shut itself off after 10 minutes or so of radio play. Sharp CS tried to tell me it was a problem with the FM radio signal, change stations and see if it stops. That seemed to help. Then the next time I turn it on it won't even start. The tv and and dvd player on the same surge protector still works fine. This Sharp unit is simply cheaply made and unreliable, don't waste your money!

Not sure what to say yet...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Well, I searched and searched for something that would bridge the gap between old technology and still be available for new technology. This seemed to fit because of the ability to play music thru a flash-drive, an iPhone as well as an iPod while also being able to play cassette tapes and CDs. Everything was fine until I tried to play a CD. The display kept reading "CD NOT READ" or "TOC CD NOT READ". I reset the system five times (once by unplugging the cord, three times by pressing the three buttons at the same time as the manual suggests)--it didn't help. So I guess the CD portion is broken somehow. So I am taking it back and my thought is to exchange it-- but I'm kind of wary, considering other things I've read AND the way the Sharp personnel at customer service so readily said, "It must be broken, take it back to exchange it". If I do get another (as I intend to, though with a bitter taste in my mouth and wondering if I'm a sucker), I will update my review on its performance.

The set up was very easy. The sound is really nice. We love having the remote. Our only complaint is when the cd changer goes from one cd to another, it is very loud, clicking and loading. Other than that, it is a good system for the price.

Disc loader jammed, volume control went rogue, impossible to control cd drive- a complete waste/loss of money- no I don't want technical support help, as I achieved "satisfaction" by smashing the piece of junk into several pieces after I broke the cheap cd loader attempting to fix it- I'll never buy a SHARP portable stereo product again...

Sharp CD player radio shuts off every 15 minutes

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Just bought the Sharp CD-DH950P Mini component system and tried it out. To my disgust, the AM/FM tuner (and the other components) shut down about every 15 minutes of inactivity and the unit goes off! And…there is no way to disable the feature. How ridiculous to have to go power on the FM radio every 15 minutes because some thoughtless engineer designed the unit to do shut down, four times an hour and for what good reason??? And with no way to avoid it. Not to mention the issues involved in trying to get a better FM antenna hooked up to the unit, other than the puny one that comes with it. I'm taking the unit back immediately. And, you can rest assured, Sharp products will not be a consideration in my future purchase of any electronic equipment.

A nice compact multi-disk unit, sounds good. However, one feature which I really wanted, and mistakenly assumed this had, is a multi-disk random play option. You can only choose to play *individual* disks randomly. Why anybody would want to do that, I don't know. So, pretty disappointed.

Doesn't do what it is supposed to do

We bought this specifically for RANDOM play across multiple CD's. The instructions say it can do it. If you go to Sharp's website they explain how you can do it. What you don't find out until after you own it is that it doesn't really do it. It will play a single CD random, but NOT multiple CD's random. Many consumers have called out Sharp on their Website.
