I've had the TV for a couple of weeks now, and really enjoy. Very nice picture, and of course the size v. price is wonderful. My only compliant thus far is the optical digital out (for sound) does not function for the devices hooked to the TV through HDMI connection. Not an issue if you are using a receiver, but for those of you who do not, pay special attention to this lacking feature. To be able to hook my Sonos Playbar up, I had to order a special converter, that wasn't all that easy to find. All is working now, so i'm pleased, but had the "no optical out if hooked up with HDMI" been mentioned earlier, then I probably would have purchased a different television. However, if this not a factor for you, great TV.

I replaced a 55" Samsung mid tier LED LCD 120Hz from a few years ago. The color was amazing on it. The Sharp 70" is just plain big with the cheapest LCD panel they can slap on it. Remember this is the lowest tier Sharp. The colors are just aweful, the contrast is horrendous. I calibrated the display with a Spyder 2 Pro and still find it lacking. It looks to be an issue with dynamic range, especially on the darker colors. I've had it for 2 weeks and not sure how I'm going to live with it. It's not 2 or 1 star because I read what I was getting into but couldn't believe how bad it looks in comparison to a higher quality panel.

Had this for a week now Love how good this picture looks even with the local channels. chose this over the visio 70 and Samsung 65 and could not be happier. was a little worried just like the previous review because they had none displayed but I am glad I took the chance

My research narrowed to either the Sharp 70" or Samsung 65", and I chose the Samsung. But when I got it home it was broken already. So taking it back, the store didn't have another one, so the manager talked me into the Sharp 70" with an inconvenience discount, which was easily my 2nd choice anyway. Got it home, and the #1 requirement is great, the picture - awesome awesome awesome. However, everything else is downright lame. The sound isn't 1/10 the quality of the 6yr old Sony it replaced. The settings and interface are pretty weak too, but once it's set up this doesn't really matter, but I couldn't find anywhere to make the sound any better. There is no distinction between 30% and 100% on the volume, and it's just plain weak. I have a theater sound system available that I used for sports and movies, but not regular TV, but now I find that I have to use it for everything. Awesome picture, but everything else is 2nd rate.
