Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the picture quality, calling it "great" and "clear." The 3D feature is also well-received, although some customers view it as more of an enhancement than a necessity. The large screen size is another positive aspect, with customers saying it's the biggest TV they've ever bought. Setup is also seen as easy and straightforward.

    Good got Better

I purchased this unit right after Black Friday from BB. I went in for a replacement form my Samsung 55' LED that didn't really need to be replaced. I just wanted 3d and newer technology. BB was out of the Samsung that I wanted so I started to look at the Sharp. The size was the first thing that made me think about it. Set-up and all that was easy but the settings it came with out of the box were bad. After doing some Google and review searches I was able to find some setting that worked. The Aqua-motion and 120 as well as 240 to me are not useful. I have them turned off. The "soap opera" effect is unrealistic for me. I almost returned this unit for another Samsung until I turned these items off and found some decent setting. Now the unit looks as good as my Samsung. 3D, BluRay and gaming look fine as well. I would say take the time to tweak yourself and don't use factory settings. The low power wallpaper off-mode is very cool. Plug a USB in with some copied HD backgrounds or pictures in 16:9 and you'll find yourself just staring at it all the time when not watching TV and unit is just off. Not using the 240 function and not really knowing if I'll ever really even use the web with the exception Netflix this may be a bit of over-kill but the picture does look good after some work.

Had the 70 inch sharp for about 3 weeks now, its the 240hz. Very very pleased with the picture. I had a 42in. Panasonic plasma for 10 years. This puts the Panasonic in the shade as far as detail and color. I'm awed by the quality. Except, motion blur during sports, it's distracting. When you watch a golfer hit a ball it looks like 3 balls going through the air. I thought the 240hz was supposed to fix that problem. Maybe when the geek comes to calibrate the issue can be fixed. But, I'll still keep the tv.I'll review again during football season.

Best TV purchase I've ever made

I've had this tv for about a year now and I've never had a single problem. Set up was easy and the picture continues to impress. The Aquomotion 240Hz delivers crisp yet fluid motion with no annoying video lag. Even Standard Definition programs look better but the full 1080p HD is an arresting experience. It fits perfectly in my oversized family room. My TV only came with one pair of 3D glasses despite the product description claiming it comes with two. The audio is good but I use an external Sony Bluray 3D home theater system. The TV is chocked full of options for getting the optimal picture and the 4 HDMI ports are perfect for all my externals (Roku, Apple TV, Directv and Bluray). The Smart apps are great but could be better if there were more. Notably absent is Amazon Video but with a few extra button taps I can access it from the external Roku or Bluray. The web browser is tedious without a real keyboard so I never use it for that reason. I don't have the optional web cam either so I Skype on my laptop instead. Overall a great investment!

    Excellent picture quality

I've owned this tv for over a week and find the picture quality exceptional. Some may not like the energy saving (standard) but I prefer its clarity and sharpness. The TV is fairly easy to set up and would strongly recommend the optional Sharp Sound Bar (HT-SB60) which has several different sound options, to complete the overall system. The 3D reception is amazing and this TV does receive the Directv 3d channels. I would highly recommend this TV for anyone wanting to upgrade to a 70"TV with 3d reception capability.

    Problems after 4 weeks

I bought this TV and LOVED it. Also bought 6 extra pairs of glasses for it. The size and the picture quality were amazing. However, after about 4-5 weeks, we started noticing little glitches with the TV. We were only covered by manufacturers warranty, so Geek Squad came out to replace the TV board. When that didn't work they claimed the board was not programmed correctly and they sent another tech out to fix. When that didn't work they claimed it was not the right board and sent another tech to install another one. That worked but somehow it knocked the sound out. Sharp is advising to have the speakers replaced. Declining that since this was the 3rd fix attempt. I plan on getting a brand new TV and then purchasing the BB warrenty for it. DO NOT PURCHASE WITHOUT BUYING THE WARRANTY. Wished I would have done that in the first place. But you live and learn.

Set up the TV in my basement, for the price and size of the picture this is a very good TV. No major negatives about the TV

Problem with the voices matching the pictures

When watching cable the voices sometimes don't match the movements of the mouth. You have to turn the channel to fix it. The 3D glasses sold for this TV don't always work and sharp will do nothing to help you with this! The manual for the glasses say they have a year warrant but sharp will not honor that! All and all I am disappointed with sharp so I will be switching brands with my next smart tv purchase

    Stay away from this TV

I have had two of these TVs break down (screen went dark) in less than three years. Sharp has been little or no help in fixing them or in standing behind their product. Don't be fooled by the bells and whistles of the "quattron" four colors, etc. This is a fragile TV and I will go back to Sony or Panasonic.
