Unit dead after three months - display failed

Unfortunately, three months after my first purchase, the display has died on one of them. Audio quality is great, the device works really nicely, but according to other reviews this appears to be a very common problem.

I searched the Amazon online review, and it seems this display problem is very common. So I believe there must be some design/manufacturing issues with this model.
