I purchased this air purifier about a month ago and have not seen any changes in the quality of the air. I have major allergy and asthma issues and purchased this unit for my room to hopefully get a little bit of relief. After having this product for a little less than 30 days I noticed that the filter area was not collecting any dust, etc. I called Best Buy yesterday to see if I could bring the item back to them and they said it wasn't an issue. Upon arrival to the store I went to customer service and the lady informed me that I would not be able to return the item to them. She then gave me the contact information to Sharp and while I was at the store I called. The three Sharp representatives that I spoke to in the course of thirty minutes all said that I would need to ship the item to them (at my expense). If the item was damaged by my doing then that would not have been an issue but considering the product does not do what it claims to do to pay for shipping out of pocket is ridiculous!! I demanded that I speak to a manager and that is when they hung up on me. I will not be purchasing ANY products from Sharp again and I would highly encourage for others to not purchase this product period. Very upset with the lack of assistance from the Best Buy associates and the wrong information that was provided by the original rep and EXTREMELEY unhappy with the customer service provided at Sharp, their lack of professionalism and product.

This unit works more efficiently than others that we've owned. It really does clear odors and is a blessing for allergy sufferers.

Do not buy. First time buying online from BB. I paid for new unit. Bestbuy shipped refurb unit that was used with new filter. It did not power up and the manufacter box was faded and old. Wasted my time. I brought it into store for refund. Poor QC.

decibels are low and air seems a little cleaner when bedroom door is closed

I happened to get this for $99.99 one day because having the app, I'm alerted to best buy deal of the day/ I'm into technology and knowing how the "plastmacluster air ionzer" works, I knew it was worth it in that aspect. The price was also right (one random day) and I haven't seen it since anywhere near that price. I'm so happy I got this when I had the chance. It moves so much air with just the moving sound of a lot of air when on high, but not loud. I could have it on all night and even on high, it's much less bothersome than a fan which doesn't bother me to begin with, but that references how quiet this product is. It works so great, even just a few minutes, even on low that dusty air you saw in the light during the day is gone and it's reduced the dust/pollen and cat litter box smell great. I could go on all day. It's very night, fits great and so easy to use. Very nice product, extremely impressed with how well it does what it supposed to, well leaving the air feeling, i dont know......better. Worth the money, but wait for a sale or something if you can wait. I haven't see it come down, but shop around or wait for a sale or best buy surplus. Even at $200, it's still well worth the price as it is worth it's price in what it does..

Does a great job but filters are very expensive to replace!

I've used this for the past month. Worked great in the beginning but now has begun humming loudly.

it is good but it wont clear the smoke or other odour so ive to buy another ionizer

I just received this unit and it is quite nice. Very quiet on the lowest setting. I have heard people speaking of hearing the sound of the plasma cluster option but mine does not make a sound is that okay too? Additionally the manual shows the wrong side of the filter going into the unit. The filter itself is well marked. But if you insert the filter just by looking at the picture you're going to put it in backwards

I got this yesterday at my local Best Buy. Originally went in to buy the Sharp FP-P30U, lucky for me the FP-A40U was right next to it. I pulled out my iPad and read up on it, reviews, other sellers and Best Buy had the best price. The 40U cleans a larger area than the P30U 124 vs 200, better CADR . Otherwise its the same size, the ergonomics are the same. For $20 more you do get a better unit. And it's quiet even on high which I use for an hour or two to clean the air faster, then I put it on medium and gets quiet, I can hear TV, work on my laptop with no noise distraction. I move it into the bedroom just before I go to sleep and I'll put it on high, when i'm ready I will go into the bedroom and put the unit on low. I woke up today without the normal stuffed nose or irritated throat. More than likely I will buy another all I have to do is decide on the P30U or the P20U which Best Buy sells. You will not be disappointed.

I am one of the very lucky ones who didn’t get hit by the dreaded pre/postnatal blues. Since I got pregnant and until Aahi, who is almost 3 months old now, I probably had only stressed over a few things which could easily be solved by medical advice. But the thing that stressed me out the most was Air Pollution. There is nothing we could do about it! Air Pollution continued to worsen in my city and was deadliest during March and that was when Aahi was born.  I remember having to carry Aahi out of the hospital while wearing a mask. And my heart hurts so much that my little fragile baby was breathing the same toxic air with no protection whatsoever against it. I was fuming inside. I felt so helpless! I locked myself at home and cursed the world. At one point I even felt guilty that I brought Aahi to this horrible world. She was just a few days old and had just barely learned to breathe and this is what her airway and lungs had to deal with.  I was so, so depressed yet there was nothing I could do about it. I typed furiously on Twitter, ranting and asking for help!! Yet there was nothing anyone could do about it. I became angry with everything and everyone. It was true that nobody could do anything about it except to wait for it to pass. We wanted to purchase an Air Conditioner for us, when we came to know about Sharp Plasma cluster Ion Technology and how it helps in improving the Indoor Air Quality. The device is mounted on Air Conditioners and Refrigerators also. Moreover, what is good about it is the Standalone Air Purifiers which are heavy duty and can take care of the host of Air Quality Problems Indoors. We know that it is impossible to stay away from the polluted air all the day, but at least with the Sharp Air Purifier, we are able to reduce the exposure to the deadly pollutants for our little angel. I have no doubt that all mothers think the same. What wouldn’t you do to provide your baby the safest environment?

We wanted a unit that could freshen the air in our living room that also wouldn't make too much noise. This one has really performs. We used to get thick dust on the furniture and now there's barely a trace. Best of all, this unit is very quiet. Sometimes we have to check to make sure it's on!

Bought this to help with dust allergies. Works great and is fairly quiet. Noticeable difference in the air quality after only running it a short time. Worked so well bought another one for my living room.

Bought this unit and start using it recently. Its good stylish unit that I can easily placed. The unit works for small rooms, and does a good job as advertised. However, my only complain is the noise it makes during ion mode. Whenever ion mode is on, it makes this noticeable and very persistent ticking noise. As soon as I turn off the ion mode, the noise goes away. I can't figure out whether it's a defective unit or something I need to clean, but from what I can tell, this is part of the fan unit inside the machine which cannot be reached.

My basement had a musty smell that I could't get rid of. I used a dehumidifier, fans, Carpet Fresh, Fabreze, Damp Rid and of course opening the windows (which backfired). Nothing worked (scented products only worked for a day or so). Then I picked this unit up as the Deal of the Day and it has done the trick; even though the space is way bigger than the 200 square feet rating. I turned on the ionizer (which I admit, I have no idea what that means, what it does and especially how it does it) and pointed the output toward the stairs so you get nothing but fresh clean air as you descend into the basement (the clean air comes out the top and slightly to the back). So, for an entry level air purifier, this is a good deal, especially if you can get it at half the recommended retail price.

When I saw Best-Buy put this air filter on sale, I immediately picked one up at local store. It only took about 15 minutes to unpack and it is was up and running. It has helped with my husband's allergy symptoms and is quieter than I expected.

My husband's heavy cigarette smoking had started bothering me to the degree I had to leave the room and watch TV or read in the bedroom. Did some research and did not find that these types of filters worked so great for smoke, but thought I had to try something. A trip to Best Buy, I selected the Plasmacluster as the price would fit with my remaining credit available. We set the unit near his chair and tuned it on. It far exceeded expectations, and not only worked to catch the smoke, but did so perfectly. Not even a hint of smoke travels over to my area! We turn it off when we are not in the living room. He uses it when I am not even present as it clears the air so well!! Could not be happier! We have the FP-A40U-W.

This cleans the air quickly. My wife loves it because it rids the air of food smell when we cook seafood. Great product at a great price.

We purchased 4 of these purifiers, we have a large house. So far, we've only had to use 2 (1st and 2nd floor) because they are so efficient. We have smokers in our house and within a few minutes the air has no trace of cigarette odor. Very pleased with this product !
