The picture is not as sharp as we had expected
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We thought the higher hg would give us a sharper picture for action viewing like golf. It didnt and that is disappointing.

Great Picture and Design!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love this TV! After my 60" Sony Rear Projector developed the dreaded optical block issue, I decided after reviewing all models to try this Sharp 70". The picture quality out of the box is nothing to write home about, but once I got it calibrated for my components/preferences, it is awesome! I prefer the "movie mode" as it removes the soap opera effect, so I calibrated from there. As this TV is in a very bright room, I appreciate the matte finish and can adjust the brightness to my preference depending on time of day. As far as clouding, I do notice some minor clouding, but only at night with all the lights turned off on a completely dark screen. Even then with calibration, it isn't significant enough to be an issue (almost had to be looking for it.) If you use your TV as a PC in a dark room, this might be an issue for you as with most LED TVs. I'm a big sports fan, and after calibration did not notice any bleeding or motion blur with football or basketball as that drives me crazy! I don't own a Blu-Ray (have a HD-DVD player), so I tested the 3D with some free on-demand material from my cable company. I was really surprised at how good the 3D was! After hearing how the 3D was "meh" on the TV sets coming out, I was impressed. I watched several programs, and didn't notice any of the "ghosting" issues others have complained about. I rated the sound as average as all flat screens have not so great sound IMO, so I use a sound bar/receiver. It took some tweaking, but I got my sound bar (Sony HT-CT 500) to play well with the TV. I did have the lip sync issue that many have mentioned, but by setting my receiver to a 150 ms delay, all my components sync up nicely (including Netflix streaming through the TV.) My sound bar/receiver is a couple of years old, so it does not have the ARC functionality so I can't speak as to how well that works. Speaking of Netflix, I run my TV/Components wireless as the router is in another room. I used Iron Man II to test the Netflix streaming and had no issues at all. Picture quality was much better than on Roku, and had no lip sync issues (connect TV to Receiver via optical instead of HDMI since I don't have ARC.) My only real complaint (and this goes for most TVs) is that I have my TV on a console so my sound bar sits in front of the TV. Therefore, the sound bar blocks the TV sensor as it is in the middle. I sort of get around this by pushing the TV to the back of the console and placing the sound bar at the front of the console to leave some "space" so I can up and over with my remote. I wish they would start designing these TVs to have the sensor at either end as the sound bars do not cover the entire width of the TV. Had the same problem with my last TV, so as I said, it's a minor complaint I can work around. Overall, I think this is a great TV especially considering the price point!

Picture quality is average.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is not as sharpe as expected. It's not a LED product that I come to expect. The picture quality looks more like the LCD that first came out five to six years ago.

Amazing Picture & App Bundle
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After reading through some of the reviews I had to give my 2 cents. I have had the set for 3 weeks and have had ZERO problems, all HDMI Connections are rock solid, absolutely no light leakage as seen on previous models, a ton of apps that are easily configured or removed and all work smooth as ice and the picture is beyond amazing!! I added a Bose Soundbar and rarely use the built in speakers but when I have they actually sound far better than I would have expected. The wireless connectivity is far superior to my Blu-Ray so now the TV runs the show!!

Gorgeous
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first Sharp and my first LED set. I replaced a rear projection Sony XRD 60" set. The extra 9.5 inches makes a huge difference in viewing area. As delivered, the set exhibited super high corrections that resulted in the soap opera effect - picture quality almost too real on movie material. A few tweaks and bingo, gorgeous picture with great depth. Spend a bit exploring the set up options and you will be amazed at the quality you get for the cost. As other posters noted, I did see a sync issue on some material at first, but that appeared to be connected to motion enhancement and with that turned down, I have not seen the problem since the first day. XBOX, Bluray, and DirecTV are sick on this TV.

Good if you like washed out picture!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I picked this TV up at my local Best Buy because I wanted to jump from 65 inches to 70 inches. I thought that Sharp was producing quality large screen HDTVs, but I guess I was wrong. The size was great, but this set suffers from really light black levels, a picture that was very soft and lacked detail, color that was under-saturated, and it did not handle fast motion properly. To top it off there was allot of clouding on this tv. You will see it when there is a signal and the background is black or dark. It looks like someone is holding a flashlight in the background, washing out detail. Sharp should not have gotten away from using full array led back-lighting like they did last year. Skip this TV unless you just want size over picture quality. I can see how some who are just coming to High Def TV would like this set, but having spent time with Panasonic and Samsung flagship TVs in my house, this set falls well short. I returned it and upgraded to the SHARP ELITE 70 incher, and the difference is night and day. There should be some trickle down from the the ELITE class to the lesser sets.

Some HD content is like looking through a window
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally purchased the LC-70LE650U non Quattron version. After realizing the video quality was not up to par. In fact, it was not as good as my older Samsung plasma 59". I was very disappointed. I decided to try the LC-70LE845U after all the positive reviews. WOW! Once I tweaked the settings to my liking, I suddenly realized how much better the quality was. It is almost as though you are looking through a window. The video quality is the best I have ever seen. It is hard to explain. But the same HD movies I have watched before on my older plasma TV's just did not come to life like they do on this TV. The edges of the faces objects and everything else in the picture just seem to "pop" off the screen. This is not even in 3D! The motion is smooth as silk and high action scenes move with fluid like motion. It looks like this model is going to be or has already been dis-continued. But a am sure it's newer version will be just as good if not better. 240 Hz and Quattron is the way to go. I was not a believer until I got it home and started watching it. Don't believe the reviews that 240Hz is not necessary. See it to believe it yourself! However, I am not totally sold on the Quattron with the extra yellow color yet. It's just too hard to tell the difference between that and a normal RGB.

Love the TV.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I researched for a very long time for a TV when our 60" Sony started growing the dreaded blue dots. I was mostly focused on a Samsung but when I was in Best Buy saw this 70" TV with as good of a picture, 240 refresh rate and less money so chose to go with it. Haven't regretted it yet.

Almost Perfect
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The first thing you need to do is update the firmware from Sharp's website. Download and install via USB flash drive. This fixed my wifi connectivity issue. I also had to change the audio output on my FIOS set top box to L-PCM to fix my audio issue. Since then TV has been great. Awesome 3D, picture quality and Smart TV features. My surround sound system more than makes up for the small weak ill placed speaker on the back. Read on the net that the model Best Buy sells has less issues and better picture quality. I agree based on reviews of models purchased elsewhere. I'm very happy with mine.

Solid TV
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great TV. I was a little disappointed first time i turned it on out of the box (brightness was set at 25% of max.) I increased this, adjusted tint and played around with colors for 20 minutes until i was happy. TV looks great now. Have it hooked up to a Bose system so i really never tried out the audio - cannot comment that. TV is mounted and its very thin (about 1 inch) and looks sleek against a darker colored wall. It weighs a little under 100 pounds so if you mount it make sure there are 2 of you. Has 4 HDMI connectors on back and does not have an annoying "start up sound" like so many other TV's do. This was a selling point for me. If you want a big TV with crisp quality, this is an excellent choice. Just watch "The Amazing Spiderman" on it last night and was impressed by the quality on such a large TV. I personally did not like their remote control. Have a 1-does-all Universal remote from Logitech which i also bought at Best Buy.

Nice clear big picture
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had this tv for a few months now. It is great, it is by far the nicest tv have ever had. 70" fits perfectly on my wall and is amazingly thin. It takes up much less space than my old 65" dlp and seams bigger at the same time. The 3D is amazing as well, it works well with directv & the ps3. 3D sports are very cool.
