The Sherlock series from the BBC has been fantastic. The casting of Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman was genius and fortuitous. The two leads have headlined some of the highest grossing films of the last ten years. I would encourage you to get all four seasons and the "Christmas special" episode. The seasons are only 4 episodes long but each episode is > 90 minutes and watch like separate movies.

I have always been a fan, Basil and Nigel were a wonderful duo but Benedict and Martin are equal to the task. I love that they are based on the novels and that the humor, humanity and extraordinary intellect is all brought out in the performances by the exceptional cast and excellent writers, producers and crew. It is just another wonderful experience with the boys from 221 B Bakers St.

    Fascinating Writing Continues...

Series 4 of Sherlock continues to have some of the best writing for any television series. There are a handful of moments that are shocking yet make sense for the arc of where the series needs to go. It continues to be true to the Doyle source material but the writers put an nowadays spin on things. If this is the last season, they finished with a bang.

The BBC's Sherlock continues to be the best TV show I have ever seen. The acting, writing, direction, setting, all of it is just superb. The episodes are all about an hour and a half but they're so riveting that the time flies by and you can't help but be drawn in. This is the first show I recommend to anyone who asks for something new to watch

The series has been through a few ups and downs over the past few years, as the leads had to find the time to actually fit the show into their increasingly busy schedules, but it's definitely worth the wait. There's a certain sense of finality to the season, as if the show may not return, but it's most definitely worth the ride. Recommended!

After a long hiatus Sherlock returns for an exciting three episode story arc. This time the intrepid detective is pushed to the emotional breaking point. All three of the episodes are well done but really dark. I would hesitate to show this to young children. Fans will enjoy this series. Finally, there are decent bonus materials included.

I love the BBC Sherlock series, and I relict when a new season arrives every few years. Rumors are that this is the last season, and if so it will end on a high note. Tension between Sherlock and John Watson, a very wicked serial killer, and a surprise family member of the Holmes family. Great show, worth watching again after a time.

love the chemistry and dysfunction between the two leads. storyline advances their relationship amid interesting cases. do invest in this dvd season, it may be the last time these two fine actors are involved. true to past storyline and progression of the deterioration and redemption of their relationship. not one false note. not one.

Bought this for my wife on her request. She had just watched all three episodes on BBC. Before I purchased, I told her of the negative reviews posted here. She understood that some might think that way given this season was a little dark. But, loved it anyway and I bought it. She's just watched them again. Obviously a Sherlock Addict.

I am a bit iffy on this particular season of Sherlock. As the series has progressed, it has gotten further and further away from solving crimes and more towards stylish action. The 3rd episode is especially different, introducing new Saw-like elements to the series. It goes away from its roots, but it does remain interesting and exciting. I simply prefer the show philosophy from the early years to what it has become. There are still excellent elements to the show, and this season, if final, would be a decent way to go out. For fans only. The discs themselves are excellent.

Outstanding series that only gets better with each episode. Clever story lines, great chemistry between the actors and superb acting across the board. Fun to watch, engaging and equal or better production than most Hollywood dramas and suspense films. It really doesn't get better than this. I can't see how it can.

    A Nice Wrap Up

As the casts' careers continue to explode, this was most likely the last season of the most intellectually stimulating drama series ever on television. It was a good good-bye, not a great one. The first episode was a little uneven, and the last seemed just off, but the star episode was "The Lying Detective". Ranking #2 on my list behind "His Last Vow", that episode was remarkable for its cast, its turns, and its heart. Tobie Jones deserves an Emmy for his stomach turning villain that echoes serial criminals in the real world. I loved this series.

I had heard some bad things about this season of Sherlock but it turned out to be most entertaining - and if there is not another season this one ended in an emotionally satisfying, moving way for not only the season but for the entire series. Wonderfully acted, written and directed and the price was great!

The 4th and final season does not disappoint. Filled with mystery, adventure and plot twists. Our dynamic crime solving duo encounter challenging situations and face unexpected life changes. Well acted, creative story lines and stunning cinematography. A great addition to the rest of the series.

This series went to some really "dark" places, but just upped the game for the folks who already seem to possess superhuman skills in their fields of expertise - acting, writing, directing, producing, editing, costumes, scoring, etc. OMG - to me there is no better show on television that this one!

One thing I love about this show is how it's episodes are set up and executed. This is definitely not our great-grandparents, grandparents, and parents Sherlock. If you like your shows that love to surprise you, make you wonder where it's going. Then sit back and watch this series.

I have been watching Sherlock since it first aired, and since the end of season 1, I have pre-ordered every season. Sherlock never ceases to entertain and keep you thinking. The wit, the banter it is just mesmerizing. I highly recommend the show to anyone who like a bit of thought and action.

To those who are familiar with this series, the quality you experienced in previous seasons, will be there again! However to the new set of eyes, this set is a continuation of a beautifully crafted work. From the dialogue, to acting, to directing and all else, the show is simply wonderful.

It is definitely more British than the current American offering "Elementary" (which is also VERY good), but one would expect that from the BBC. But the modern twists that story lines and characters from the Conan-Doyle tales are clever and most enjoyable. All seasons are terrific!!

Love the stories, and the quality of the product. BBC makes their shows with outstanding quality, more like a major movie than a tv series. Demand for the fifth season is very high even after waiting 3 going on 4 full years.
