Never got the chance to play this one. I don't have a means to anymore anyway. I loved the series. I bought this game in 2019 from Best Buy, not 2020.

As many may know, this is a remake of an older Nintendo DS game. The game is part of the Shin Megami Tensei franchise, and as such, it features multiple classic elements from other games in the series like demon collection (think Pokemon - gonna catch 'em all but with deities/gods/fantastic creatures from different religions/parts of the world), demon fusion (fuse 2 demons to create a stronger one, which inherits skills from its parents), demon compendium (register your demons to summon them on the fly), demon negotiation (talk to the demons during fights to negotiate with them for items, healing, or a chance to have them join your party), intensive dungeon crawling (in this case, first person) with all traps you can think of (teleports, damaging floors, trapdoors, etc), phases of the moon (different phases produce random effects during fights and demon negotiation), etc. This game, however, is more story-driven (a sci-fi story, which is very well told) and it features a lot of dialog. The English text translation was already great in the original and it is still true in this version; however, voice acting is new in this one (although only Japanese voices are included; there are no English voices at all). For those that played the original, there is an incentive to play again; as there are 3 new endings, a new dungeon, a few more demons to collect, and a new character/storyline. Also, Atlus made some improvements on the way skills are inherited when doing a demon fusion. Overall, it's a good title with a lot of hours of fun. I strongly recommend it to those that love dungeon crawlers or are fans of the franchise.

Personally didn't enjoy the game, but I went in not knowing anything about the Megami Tensei franchise.

I missed my chance to play two other shin megami tensei games on the 3DS but I've played this version and I'm a fan. The dungeon crawling is something I see out of Persona Q or Etrian Odyssey, which I'm also a fun of.

Great old school RPG with a sci-fi setting. Great enhanced port of the DS version and definitely worth a purchase.
