This game is return to the old school side scrolled games of the new era. A lot of fun.

Shovel Knight was definitely my favorite pre-holidays purchase! It's an awesome platformer, and the story/design of the game is so aesthetically pleasing. The game itself might be a little challenging as it is based on a more retro style of gaming, but this "learn-as-you-play" game is probably one of the best platformers I've played in many years! For the price tag, Shovel Knight will make you a fan.

The music in the game is my favorite part. I could listen for hours. It also does a great job looking like an old game. The "cutscenes" look just like something out of the era. The gameplay is fast and fun.

Originally played this title as a Wii U indie developed digital download, and as a gamer having started playing back in the days of the Atari and NES generations, this game sends a wrecking ball through my nostalgia filled memories, scattering the memories of playing the likes of mega man, castlevania, Zelda, Mario, and more, and then puzzling all of those fragments together into one seamless package, with visuals, audio, and gameplay effectively and successfully designed after 8 bit style tropes, and flawlessly presented for our playing pleasure. Regardless which generation of gamer you are, old school, or new blood, you will so thoroughly enjoy and relish the experience of playing this game!

Great game. Playtime was longer than I thought as you get second playable char and challenges. I actually enjoyed the second char more than the first knight

I wound up selling my Wii U version of this game because of how awesome the 3DS version is. There is a lot more interactivity with the touch screen on this version. I'm not sure why Nintendo didn't use the same features on the touch screen of the Wii U, but this version is far superior.

For anyone that played classic games like Mega Man, Metroid, Castlevania, or Super Mario Bros, Shovel Knight will check all the boxes. incredible soundtrack and level design make this a modern classic with retro inspired roots.
