I suppose it's doing what it was designed to do, which is be a cheap alternative to the echo show. For the most part it works, but I constantly have to reset the tablet in show mode despite it always being connected to the dock. It's very frustrating as I'm not sure exactly what the triggering action is for throwing it out of show mode. The other frustrating thing is despite the tablet being connected to a Bluetooth speaker, voice commands are still recorded using the tablet's microphone. This means you have to be practically on top of the tablet for it to hear your commands. I would bypass buying this and put the money towards purchasing an echo spot or echo show.

I bought this charging dock in a whim and it turned out to be a nice little addition to my Fire HD 8 tablet. Show mode is a nice feature, and just like my echo dot plays my Sirius XM channels with a nice display, and responds quickly to my requests. Plus the unit overall has a small footprint on a table or nightstand. I would have liked to give the unit 5 stars but the tablet does tend to slide off the cradle a bit easy. Specifically, it slides off the charging pins easily. I don't see it causing any real damage to the fire tablet as it is in a case in the cradle but it does seem to be a poor design for an Amazon product. I'm pretty certain the next version will be much better!

As others have commented, I agree this dock is not worth its full asking price. I got mine on BB’s website as an open item and had a $5 RZ certificate. Getting this for a reduced amount was fine, but I wouldn’t pay $40. As far as the dock itself, there’s not much to it - plug it in with the included adapter, attach your Fire tablet, and you have yourself a stable charging cradle that can automatically turn your Fire tab into a Show. I have a Show (and countless other Amazon devices), which is used in our kitchen, while the tablet is docked on my bedroom nightstand and then connected via Bluetooth to my Bose Soundlink Mini. This docking station isn’t going to make your tablet recreate the sound a Show provides...not sure how one could expect it to? Anyway, it’s Amazon’s continued effort to take a low risk approach in to getting us to buy yet another peripheral device to use in the house. They’re not marketing these to make a ton of cash, rather, to help those who won’t get a Show, or those who have a nice Bluetooth external speaker, use their tablets for expanded use.

Bought for my mom for the Fire 8 HD and works great. Only downside is no additional speaker is on it since the Fire 8 is not that loud. Luckily, I dedicated a Bose Soundlink to the Fire 8 HD so when docked you can use Alexa from all over the house and hear her crystal clear, works great with music too.

The show mode charging dock allows you to use your tablet and Alexa while charging your tablet. I use one in the kitchen to look up recipes, get the weather report and control the living room lights. The one in the bed room acts as a alarm clock and controls the bedroom lights so I don’t have to stumble to bed.

Great wireless charging dock that turns your tablet into an echo show. It has great viewability on the dock and the microphone on the tablet hears you clearly.

This works really well with the HD8. I like how it has a case too and once you have it in the case it acts as a wireless charger. Very convenient.

Works great to put the fire into Show mode. It keeps it charged and ready to go when you want to use it as a tablet again.

Makes the tablet just like the Amazon show. You can control your tv, roomba and any other smart devices you have by talking to it while it's on the stand. However it doesnt show its online like the other devices so it goes through the alexa app instead of the way the other Amazon devices do so when you drop in or video call it calls all devices with the app installed.

Great for charging and for using the Fire HD 8 as Alexa. Easy drop in charging.

I like it best for charging tablet, seems faster than just plugged in. Show mode works good.

This is a great combination of a charging accessory and a method to make your Amazon Fire HD 8 an Echo show. It works great and has a pretty good microphone and the screen is good for this as well. The only thing I wish they would work on is the Youtube and Spotify integration as they are a bit clumsy to use with Alexa. This is definitely worth it!

Minus the smart connection, this hit most of my marks for a case. Good responsive keyboard, pen holder, good battery life and decent protection. A more solid feeling connection than the Logitech option but still a little disappointed at the strength of magnetic connection of cobpvernto the rely the iPad rests in. All and all the best option, for me, that I have found so far

Seriously, why didn't I know about this before? I love not worrying about my charging port coming loose, as that happened to my last kindle. I highly recommend purchasing one of these if you have a kindle fire!

Bought this is an open box item and like it. I had a fire HD eight tablet lying around that wasn’t being used and turn this into an echo show. Works well, Not sure it’s worth the full price but if you can pick one up on sale it’s nice to have

Made use of my Fire HD tablet! My tablet had been sitting in my drawer and now has life again at may desk! The response time for Alexa isn't as fast as a regular Echo Show would be, but I'm still happy with it. I purchased it as an opened box item for $28....so for that price point I'm pleased!

When my fiancée insisted on buying this dock for her Kindle Fire, I was reluctant to plunk down this amount of money for essentially a charging dock. However, it has basically turned our $80 Kindle Fire into an extra Echo Show device (one of which we already purchased for $200). So now we've got an extra smart home device in our kitchen/living room to play music, check the weather, check sports scores, and read the news. And we're still learning all that it can do.
