Needs Multiplayer Updates!

While the one player game resembles much of what earlier Civ versions have with an updated look, the muliplayer leaves much to be desired. We all know that online gameplay may vary from single player gameplay, but in my opinion Civ 5 multiplayer was an afterthought. First, multiplayer units do not animate when attacking or moving. They simply teleport when moving or disappear when fighting. In single player you get to see all the action. This leaves the multiplayer as exciting as playing a board game. Secondly, there is no option to directly save multiplayer games. The only way to continue a game is to load from an autosave.
To sum it up. If you don't care about multiplayer games, this is a good game. However, if you are like me and enjoy playing Civ 4 with your wife or other friends, I would wait until some of the issues like those i mentioned above are remedied.

A new spin on an old classic

I have been playing the Civ games since the very first one. I have loved the changes that have come about in each on of them. And Civ V does not disappoint.
I will say however, for as much fun as it is diving back into such a fantastic franchise, this game has a learning curve to it due to it having significant changes from the rest. It is also quit a bit more challenging, even on the easy setting. This is why I only give 4 stars for fun, because, in previous games, you could play on the easiest setting and easily breeze through the game, where this is more involved. It's not a detraction, more of a warning to those of you who loved the casualness of the previous games.
Also, on the warning side, it interfaces with your Steam account. I have one, so that was not an issue, however if you don't you may be required to get one, but I don't know.
Over all, great game. Love having it part of my collection.

This game is as good as I had expected. I have not had any issues with the game crashing or glitches after playing for a week. It is not a very drastic change from previous civilization games but it is enough that makes me totally satisfied with the purchase.

I loved Civ 4 and now I love Civ 5, the changes make the game require a little more thought, especially when moving and in battle. I havent stopped playing it since i installed it.

Fun but Crashes

First, to install the game you have to have install Steam. Not that crazy about it, but I realize it is fairly prevalent with PC games so okay. I can live with it.
Installed the game. Had trouble registering it. Seems there are TWO keys bundled with the product. One was staring at you when you open the case. The other is buried on the back of the instruction manual. Not obvious at all. They should printed the keys together.
After the hassle of installing Steam and registering I started having fun, for about an hour. Then the game crashed. I was a bit miffed but fairly addicted so I restarted. It crashed again. The game locked up a total of seven times.
You might be able to play the game. It could be my system. However, I don't have an issue with any other games. so be forewarned that this game may be unplayable. Shame, since it is highly addictive.
If it wasn't for the crashes, I'd rate it four stars. I would not give it five, because the game runs too slow IMO between turns. But fun, overall.

Directx 11 is nice.
Turn-based makes the game long..
But game is still fun and addicting.

Civ5 is an awesome and fun game with TONS of REPLAY Value! Just buy it if you are looking at it and you wont regret it!!
I find myself like 1000's of others who say "Just one more Turn" but it is Lays Potato chips and you cant have just one!
Best Bang for the Money compared to all the other games.
This was my 1st time playing any of Sid Miers Civ Games and can say that if I ever get Bored I'll get Civ4!

This game would be a lot of fun, if it worked! You get into the game and it just starts crashing over and over again! If you are going to play this game, save often....I would suggest not buying it. It is an expensive way to sit around waiting for slow game turns and repeated crashes.

You think that overtime you would be able to create a better game than the previous. Civ 5 does not. Its horrible. Do not and I repeat do not spend your money on this game. Its horrible. Believe everyone when they say that it crashes or doesnt load properly. My laptop is an ASUS gaming laptop that I bought last year. I have no problems playing any computer games, but this game constantly crashes. When I attempt to adjust the graphics it crashes. Finally when I start playing probably about 20 minutes the screen goes black and it just stays like that.
They did not do a great job making sure this game works properly. I find it less compelling than the 4th one. I would prefer civ 4 over 5. I am also disappointed they do not have any scenerio missions. I enjoy those challenges.
I am disappointed in this product and will not recommend this game to anyone. Continue to play civ 4 and forget about this game.

Got game on day 1 as Civ 4 was so great of a game, new and improved was suppose to be one of the better games of the year. Instead this was the biggest waste of money I've ever spent. No issues with install, however game play is super slow and seems very buggy. After about 5 turns, the whole game just slows WAY down. Turns start to take 5-10 mins to cycle and that is if it does not crash. There are also some graphic issues with the directx 9 but that may be because I am running W7.
Steam pushed "patch" today and now the game is completely unplayable and locks up after 1 turn. Emailed their support group 2 days ago and never got a reply or any news update for a known issue.
DON'T BUY THIS GAME!!!! This has been the biggest headache I've ever had with any PC game, I expect more out of a 50.00 product.... I have a 9.99 game that works better.

I have run this on multiple PC with different OS and still have issue with it crashing. Even with the patches provided still have issue. The game simply crashes and you loss everything you have been doing in the last few turns.
I WOULD NOT BUY THIS PLATFORM AGAIN!

With more pleasing graphics and a slightly different take on the game, you no longer can stack units for example, I wasn't sure about how Civ V would be. My concerns were unfounded though, because just like in every other Civ game, you really do just have to keep playing "one more turn". A great addition to the Civ series of games.

I bought this game as a gift for my son. He loved it and was up all night several times playing it. That should be the best testament.

Im taking it back due to the fact that you have to have steam. You are not buying the game you only are leasing a copy of it. You can't load it on more than one computer. I like to play games on my home computer and also on my laptop. You won't be able to do this unless you buy two copies. It's not worth $100 buck to play. I will stick with Civ4.

I was real addicted to it until I got to big. I thought it was my computer, (though not bad at all) and found it's the game. If you must wait and see if they fix it with patches.

I'm now on my second box of Civilization V, still unable to validate - and therefore install - the game through Steam. It would be nice to be able to provide a wonderful review on this game, but I can't even provide a review of the game's bugs.
