Got this to replace rental set top unit and save a few bucks monthly. Effectively got functionality of set top unit on every tv (pc + smartphones) without the hassle of the wiring everywhere and without multiple rental fees. Can watch 3 streams simultaneously. Highly recommend. (I've got excellent Wifi, which probably is a requirement!) To boot, I can easily "block" the channels that I know I'll never watch.

Excellent wifi is always a good thing. If you have the ability to Ethernet connect compatible devices then even better. Thanks for the review and welcome to the family

After trying bluetooth systems, and lip sync always off, this was the answer! Unit is so simple and operates so well. Setup was simply plugging in the base and turning on the headset. Plenty of range and good sound. Quality design and build. Sync is perfect.

Every time commercials come on the streaming goes glitchy and does not recover until changing channels. Happens on other devices. Using wireless AC. I was hoping for this to be great. Thank you BestBuy for no hassle returns.

Stream cable to three devices at once rather than rent multiple set top boxes. Saves monthly rental fee and easier than wiring every room.

Works as intended, but you you need a strong WiFi system and a good NAS or descent desktop to use it as multimedia? Wondering if I should of just got a TiVo with lifetime? Once you add it up!

    Good Hardware! Software Lacking!

Hardware is great! However, i'm disappointed that a lot of content is restricted (DRM, Digital) from Spectrum on the HD-Homerun Application. I bought this to use with PLEX but I cannot use it since most channels are locked. Had to purchase the software through HD HomeRun and still have the same problem.

Product ad description seemed to say this product was exactly what I needed. When I received the product the install directions described a totally different process so I had to return the product for a store refund.

No drm channels on windows 7 but otherwise good

I purchased mine elsewhere nearly 2 years ago. The box has performed without issues on comcast. If I had one complaint it would be in the inability to watch drm channels on windows 7 or linux (ubuntu 16.04). Luckily most of comcast channels lack drm (mgm, showtime have drm as well as other premium channels). They did recently add drm support to xbox so I can watch drm channel on tv but i do most of my tv watching while working on the linux box. Anyway I give it 4* due to drm issue but I much prefer it to alternative solutions. Previously I used a tv card in the linux box and comcast cable output to the tv card but pci is out and i have no intention of buying another tv card (also the newer cards are not supported by linux). - My understanding is that some of the cable providers drm protect all channels so check prior to purchase.

for Windows 7 or 8.1 there is still the legacy of Windows Media Center that supports DRM content
DRM viewing is supported on all Windows 10 platforms including XboxOne
keep watch for updates on recording DRM content on Win10 and updates for DRM on Android in the coming months

    Not for faint of heart,

No manual provided which made for a lot of searching the web. I installed this with a CableCard. You have to use the web embedded page to give to your cable provider so the can pair the box so you need to know the tuner ip address. Windows Media Center finds the 3 tuner but because of protected content wouldn't load. You need to download a program from Microsoft called resetdmr.exe for windows 7 & 8 users you must run this in compatability mode first save the settings then run again as an administrator. Then it will work for all channels in Media enter. Next it does not work with my LG Bluray Players or Panasonic model as well. All though it works fine with Nero DLNA server. So someone is not DLNA compliant. Great tuner once you figure it out. I have checked the SiliconDust forums for answers and it seems that others are having the same issues

Like your cable lineup, but don't what to get hammered with all the equipment fees? A little tech savvy? Have a cable provider that doesn't scramble all their channels? This might be right for you. I've been running the whole house on this for 2-3 years now. With Comcast, you won't get HBO/Showtime, but everything else is there in perfect 1080p. Paired with NextPVR on my PC, I use Kodi clients all over...PCs, tablets and Android clients (Fire, Shield, etc.). Love it!

    Love this box!

I was looking to save some money on my cable bill. Have three TVs in my house, but two of them are infrequent. My deal with Verizon includes a DVR box, which takes care of the main set. I got this box to use with the other TVs. In each TV I plugged in an Amazon fire TV stick. After installing the HD home run App, I'm able to watch any channel in my subscription package. The only downside is that I can't punch in a channel number directly. That has been offset by my ability to watch TV on my iPad, galaxy phone, or computer. I love that I am no longer tethered to a room with the TV and don't want to watch hockey, baseball, or something similar in the background. Thank you for creating a great device and saving me $25 a month at the same time!
