Sirius XM Prepaid gift card not usable

Purchased a prepaid gift card online for Sirius satellite radio and when I tried to activate the card, Sirius informed me that the pin number on the gift card had already been activated and used. Essentially, the gift card was no good. Hopefully, I'll be able to either get a refund or a card with a usable pin number.

I love the skydock radio and it works great with my iTouch. I thought that buying $55 pre-paid cards made sense in this bad economy- "when the Pre-paid card that I bought at Best Buy runs out, my service is over, right?" No, after your pre-paid card runs out, XM Radio will wait a month and send you an invoice for a month! They keep invoicing you until you call and shut off service.
XM says that "by activating your radio, you agree to continue paying monthly invoices after your pre-paid card runs out".
So why bother with a pre-paid card if you are on the hook for a revolving debt?
I don't blame Best Buy for this but XM should stop pushing these cards as an alternative to a traditional accout.

Not returnable! Don't buy as gift!

Bought this & the radio as a Christmas gift for my husband. He changed his mind about wanting one, so he took the items back to the store for a refund. They wouldn't credit him for the card because they said it'd been activated! (I'm sure they just assumed vs. checked since one reviewer said his were not activated). No where on the product description (that I saw) did it say it was non-refundable or that it would be activated upon shipping. Had I known, I could have bought just the radio & then if he wanted to keep it, gotten a card or even bought it in-store where WE would activate it. So now, not only does my husband not have a Christmas gift, we lost money on it. And this didn't qualify for the free shipping like the radio so out an extra $5 shipping also. Even if we could find a buyer, they probably won't want to pay full price & certainly not the $5 shipping. Some / all of that is on Best Buy vs. XM but it's just another in a long line of bad Best Buy experiences we've had.

I don't recommend purchasing these online. I had ordered several at the same time with a new radio and when I called to activate the radio and use the cards, XM said the cards had NOT been activated. I took the cards back to the store to get a refund (of course I had scratched off the security panel to give the number to XM) and when the clerk scanned them for the refund she advised the computer said they were non-refundable. Thankfully the clerk knew how to by-pass the problem and was able to issue a refund. Apparently either the people shipping the cards aren't able to activate them, or just didn't do it.

Better to use this than give them your C.Card

I like the pay as you go abilities. I had issues in the past with XM/Sirus with quarterly auto payments. They give no warnings or dates in which your card will be hit with a payment and you cannot control it. I ONLY pay this way now!

Great product. You can use the gift cards to pay for the subscriptions, and the activation fee.
