This is quite simple. It is a gas line that connected our cook top to the gas line in the house. Works as it is supposed to.

Replaced our old stove and needed a new gas line to install. Works fine

Definitely get at least the 4 ft. length. I can't imagine a 3 ft. length unless you plan to jump in and out behind your range to connect. Be aware that there are different diameters gas lines for different appliances too - this diameter is standard for gas ranges. Cheaper lines don't have the safety check valve should the line gets disconnected/breaks-away from the range.

I recently bought a new stove/oven from Best Buy. I wanted a new gas line as well. The morning of the delivery I made my way to the local hardware store to get some gas line pipe dope. Later when the delivery was made, I opened the new gas line package and to my amazement...There was a small squeeze container of gas line pipe dope. I used what was supplied and was able to return the item bought. Here I thought I was going to be stuck with this container of pipe dope that I would probably never use again!

I bought this because it was necessary for the new stove I purchased at the same time. I did not have any issues with the installation.

Like the description says, it’s required with a gas stove. A needed item for your gas stove and makes installation “problems free” if all hookup parts are there when installing
