    Fantastic Headphones

I purchased the Tracks HD (V10) on a whim. I had sworn off expensive headphones for quite a while because I couldn't justify the bass-heavy sound of Beats with the $200+ price tag. I went in looking for a $30-50 set of headphones and found the SOL display, gave them a try, and fell in love - both form and function. First, the design is FANTASTIC. they're designed in a completely modular fashion. Everything is removable/swappable - the headband, the sound "engines", even the cord is detachable from both ends. Extremely convenient and just plain cool. The finish on the actual sound engines are VERY nice. They are metal, rather than plastic and have a mixed matte texture with polished edges. Additionally, because of their deign, you'll never get that plasticky-squeak when bending and flexing them. Next, the fit is very comfortable. They are 'almost' completely over ear and do a great job of sealing out outside noise. I've been able to wear them for an average of about 90 minutes before needing to relax my ears. Most importantly - the sound. The V10's are great headphones with rich sound. They are similar to Beats in that they are inherently bass heavy, which has some compromise in the mid-range area of audio, but not so much that they diminish the listening quality to all types of music. In my honest opinion, they perform better than the equivalent Beats at a much better price point. The fact that parts are customizable and easily replaceable is the icing on the cake for me. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a very solid pair of headphones with great quality and with a better economic value.

I wouldn't say anything bad about these headphones at all. If your thinking of buying beats by see don't and look at these first they are a 3rd of the price and the sound 10 times better. You can also buy interchangeable headbands and really make these headphones your own.

Great headphones. Far better than Beats Solo HD

OK, so I jumped on the bandwagon and tried out the Dre Beats, specifically the Solo HD model. When I tried them in-store, they sounded good. A bit heavy on the bass, but good. So I bought a pair and brought them home. Big mistake. I think Monster re-eq's the kiosk because all of my music sounded like mud.... literally. I tried rock, jazz, hip-hop, house, you name it. There was no definition or dynamic range to the sound. So, I brought them back. After some thought and research, the Sol Republic Track HDs kept coming up as a great alternative. So I went back to Best Buy and gave them a shot. 100% better at a $70 dollar savings. The bass is rich and deep but not overpowering. The mids and highs are present, not as natural as some headphones at this price, but still balanced and prominent. Overall the sonic "cohesion" is there. By that I mean the music feels tight, not separated or flabby. The sense of "space" is also present. In other words, you can pick up some of the ambient sound that was present during the recording... very cool. Overall these headphones sound great. I did notice a difference between the regular Tracks and HDs. The HDs definitively have more definition in the mids and highs. Beware, if you are a sonic purist you may find these a bit warm and bassy. Comfort-wise, remember that these are on-the-ear cans so there is a little pressure. Nothing major, but if you are use to over-the-ear it may take some adjustment. The pressure is just enough to keep the phones from moving or letting in background noise. From an overall fit-and-finish perspective, they seem well designed and durable. So, they may not look quite as cool as the Dre Beats but they do have superior sound. If aesthetics are a major hurdle in your purchasing decision, you can customize every piece of the headphones through SOL. Overall, I am very happy with the purchase. Good product for sure.

I have had these headphones before and they are really good at producing decent sound. The bass is deep and the rest of the tones are clear. The headphones are 100% adjustable to the size and shape of your head and the headband itself is virtually indestructable but very easy to scratch the glossy finish. The headphone cable has multiple commands for volume, play, pause, fast forward and the previous song. The speakers could afford to be bigger so they fit over your ear rather than on them but oh well. The cushions are nice and soft but after a few hours there is too much pressure on my ears so I have to take them off for 15-20 minutes. I really don't have a lot of complaints about these headphones, all in all they are a really good product. Although my next purchase will definitely be BOSE.

Sorry for the long review in advance, I didn't want to skip any details about my experience. These headphones are a door buster deal to me. I've been looking for a pair of headphones, maybe even earbuds like SkullCandy or Yurrbuds for awhile, watching prices, reviews, and customer satisfaction. About two weeks before Black Friday, I saw these at the bottom of the shelf underneath the Dr. Dre Beats. Now, already having a pair of the Beat Solo HD's (which I use for almost everything), I wasn't really interested in another pair. Exploring a little more, I saw the price tag, wondering if they were worth the extra $40 to spend over Klipsch Image S4 earbuds I was also considering. I go home to read up on customer reviews, comments and recommendations, seeing 5 out of 5 all across the board. I wondered if this was an error or just people not reviewing them enough (which is partially why I'm writing this review). I finally end up purchasing the last pair, take them out of the box immediately, and take 'em for a test run. I was amazed. I thought I was wearing my Solo HD's, but without the feel of them squeezing my head. These are comfortable, light, and durable, all without sacrificing sound quality or ease of customization. Now, a couple days later, I find myself using my Sol Republic HD's more frequently than my Solo HD's, which are currently in their box, waiting to be used, since I just got them as a replacement pair (Thank you, Black Tie Protection!). After buying the Republic HD's, I found even more reasons to buy these over the Solo HD's: 1) Virtually indestructible band- It can bend over backwards, pulled into a loop, be stepped on, thrown against something, all without a scratch. 2) In-line microphone along with separated volume rockers- Make and receive calls while enjoying great sound and comfort, as well as accessing Voice Control and Siri (both iPhone 4 and 4S) 3) A sleek neoprene carrying sleeve- For those rainy days when you just don't want to wipe your nice headphones down. Or when you're traveling, of course. I apologize for the long, LONG review, but I could not leave out a detail. That's how much I enjoy these headphones. Proud owner for 3 days (at the time of writing this). Hopefully people will enjoy their Republic HD's as much as I do. 5 out of 5, by the way.

I bought some Beats by Dre. Studio a few months ago. I was disappointed comparing the quality of them to the price. I was flying and in the airport there was a store selling all different types of headphones. They recommended the Sol Republics and I was amazed on the sound quality and how flexible they where. Indestructible! I got back and instantly bought the last pair at Best Buy. I was so happy I did. I use these headphones daily and I'm still amazed on how they perform. I also bought a skin for them at Vinylskins.com. They look amazing. If you want something that has the same quality and better than beats get the Sol Republic Tracks HD

I used best buys price match with amazon and was able to get these for $85. The sound quality is very good, bass is very rich and deep, but not so overpowering to the point of being annoying. I have had these for about 2 months and don't have any complaints other than people who wear glasses, such as myself, can find them to be a bit uncomfy after prolonged use but they have loosened up since getting them and they have become comfier. The ability to replace everything in the headphones is also a huge benefit, and they are extremely durable and look very good. They aren't overly gigantic and obnoxious as beats. Overall very good product.

I own a pair of Beat Solos which would be the comparable Beats headphones. At a much lower price point I think these are a better value. The sound quality is VERY compareable to the Solos. The Beats do have a little more bass but the SolRepublics are brighter in sound. I wouldn't say one is better than the other but they are so close the SolRupublics are a better deal for the price point. I use these for working out. Since in ear headphones fall out consistently, I wanted a pair of styleish over the ear headphones. I have use them mostly in an inside environment and a few times running in the cold. They didn't bother me once I started sweating and kept their comfort. I have yet to use the outside when it's hotter so that test remains to be seen. One big benefit to these over the Beat Solos is the wiring is all interal in the circular headphones which slides over the tracks (other than the main wire). One big issue I had with the Beats is that because some of the wiring is wired Under the Headband. After time it got exposed and I had to use electrical tape to cover this up. The Beats' headband is NOT nearly as durable as the SolRepublics so if you're using them often or for working out the SolRepublics are definitely better!

I bought these headphones primarily to use while at school walking between classes. They are great sounding headphones. I can appreciate having good, clean, deep bass and these headphones deliver just that! I love their durability as well. I promote Oakley sunglasses for their durability for sports so its good to see that the same quality duribility is being put into other products like SOL has put into their headphones. They are nearly indestructable!

I Bought these headphones because beats by dre were overrated and i didn't want to get those knowing there were better quality headphones out there. So i did some research and a few of my friends told me about the sol republics. I love these headphones, they truly one of the best out there for sound quality and durability for the price, I bought the Tracks HD because they have the best bass overall. The tracks are pretty basic headphones & the Tracks Ultra don't have as much bass, but have a crisper sound. totally worth buying.

I bought these online but first listened to them at the store. These have a great sound quality comparable to beats but with a cheaper price. They are lightweight but sturdy. Well worth the money. My only major complaint is that after listening to them a while the start to get uncomfortable.

Overall I love the headphones. The week before I got them I got to spend a few days with the beats on ear headphones. The week after I got them I got to compare them to the beats over the ear headphones. The HD Tracks easily keep up. To me the HD tracks seem to be clearer than the beats, but the beats easily beats them in Bass. The difference in Bass doesnt come anywhere near in making up for the difference in price. Since BB matched amazon I got them for cheap. Even at the regular price the headphones are a good deal.

These headphones are great, and if anyone is thinking of getting Beats then don't. These are just as good (better, in my opinion) and for a much more reasonable price. They are attractive, and the bass is SICK so that's not even an issue. They are also built extremely will, and I can't see them breaking without going through some extreme circumstances.

Hands down the best set of head phones I've ever owned. 1/3 the price of Beats with a 100 x's better sound quality. Why pay $300 to look fashionable?
