This classic album was the start of a new era.

I’d say it changed the direction for female R&B artists. Beforehand, there were female artists like Aaliyah, Mya, Brandy & Ashanti who were all great. Then Alicia Keys came out with a kind of ballad that seemingly wasn’t really radio-friendly with “Fallin” but everyone gravitated towards it. She followed it up “A Woman’s Worth” and other songs that weren’t necessarily dance bangers or anything but everyone loved it. Then, artists like Angie Stone, India Arie, Jill Scott and others came out and ushered in a new neo era. I can point this album as the catalyst. Having it on vinyl just gives that vintage feel.
