Jim Carrey is the most Jim Carrey he has been since the 90's, so anyone old enough to have played the original games will love not just the amount of care taken with handling Sonic's character, they'll also love to see one of the generation's greatest comic actors back to form. The store is incredibly basic, but the writing is really clever and genuinely funny, plus the additional characters made for the film, Tom and Maddie, are very likeable and add to the ensemble instead of feel like they're taking time away from the titular hero. Overall very deserving of the crown of best video game adaption.

When the initial trailer came out and had Sonic looking like an aerobics guru that we all know and love along with human looking teeth I was nervous. I’m glad to say that the fans spoke and the director listened. Sonic looks more like the Sonic of old. The movie is funny and fun to watch. I loved the action scenes. The acting isn’t bad either. If you’re a fan then you won’t be disappointed. If you looking for entertainment then you’ve found it. The steel book is priceless. Well done. This thing sold out in no time once it was released. Loved it.

You don't have to be a hardcore fan of the hedgehog to enjoy this movie, though there are little nods for those in the know. At its heart, though, this is a fun comedy/adventure with loads of charm that's a good time for all ages. Special features are pretty light, with a few deleted scenes and an interesting commentary track with director Jeff Fowler and Ben Schwartz (voice of Sonic himself).

The animation and casting was done phenomenally on this film. The Blu Ray has beautiful animation and colors. I wasn't expecting much watching this movie growing up playing the video games of Sonic I was familiar with who he was. I just didn't want to hype myself up just in case the film was a let down. The film is great a lot of laughs and great pacing. I would recommend it and would love to see more Sonic films in the future. I would recommend it for a family movie night. Everyone loved it in my household.

My family and I saw this movie in the theater. Back when we thought that it was semi safe to be around one another. My son is a MEGA Sonic fan and collects ALL things that have anything to do with this character. Seeing the excitement on his face after seeing the previews for this movie. Made me curious as well. We thoroughly enjoyed the movie therefore wanted to add it to our collection. Plus I love collecting the steel books. Which are so cool and typically come with some sort of added theme related gift.

Movies, based on video games, are typically nothing to write home about. Expectations were low going into this, and I was pleasantly surprised. It moves along at a fun, quick pace, with plenty of comedy and memorable action scenes. Jim Carey is great, calling back to his Ace Ventura days with a level of over-acting that only he can do. I recommend this to Sonic and non-Sonic fans alike. I purchased the Steelbook edition of this film, which I also give high marks. Nice art work, and a good addition to the collection.

Loved watching this movie the week it came out at the movies. I was so excited when I found out they were coming out with a edition for this movie I had to jump and pre order the movie. I loved watching it again when it came in. Best live action movie by far and best gaming movie too they’ve made. I loved it, watching it took me back as a kid when I used to play the game so watching this movie more then once it’s such a fun and really cool movie so glad I was able to get it when I did. It’s my favorite movie right now

People my age 36 would really love this movie..I remember playing Sonic on Sega Genesis and Sega Dreamcast. I remember another system that was handheld..we loved running jumping smashing robots and flying across loops and collecting gems..and the boss fights with Dr Robotnix. The 4k goes Super Sonic. In great picture quality..Nice contrast and vivid color..it also has great story and actors..two thumbs up..Jim Carray was great as Dr Robtnix.i belive parents who played the games asckids. Should let there kids see this

At first i was really hesitate on someone making a sonic movie because im a really big fan of sonic and after seeing that first trailer i really lost hope but once the redesign was released i was shocked by how good it looked so i went and saw it in theaters and it was one of my favorite movies of 2020 by far its really great i HIGHLY recommend this movie its funny along with it this steelbook case is awesome and the comic book is great i would HIGHLY Recommend this steelbook case for such a fantastic movie

As a Sonic fan I've watched this movie 9 times and it is everyi could ever hope for, originally I was not looking forward to this movie mainly because of live action, however the history behind this movie took many years to make and when they got back to making the movie this showed they cared so much after the backlash on the old design they took the effort and time to change his look. I am so glad they honor the fans of sonic but also a fun film. Sonic the hedgehog I say gets a high recommendation.

Though this isn’t a 1 to 1 adaptation of the first Sonic the Hedgehog video game, it is a fresh new take on the character. The film is humorous and light hearted with some great action. Ben Schwartz’s take on Sonic is really good and Jim Carrey as Dr. Eggman is wacky and hilarious. A really enjoyable film.

This movie was better than it had any right to be. The filmmakers listened to feedback and created a thoroughly enjoyable family film. This steelbook is beautiful. My only minor gripe is that I wish the comic book could fit inside the steelbook. It is about the same size as the steelbook which makes it slightly too big to tuck inside. I also wish Best Buy hadn't made me wait a month after the release date to get me my pre-ordered item, but that's not the movie's fault.

The world needed a hero, it got a hedgehog. Powered with incredible speed, Sonic embraces his new home on Earth, until he accidentally knocks out the power grid, sparking the attention of uncool evil genius Dr. Robotnik. Now, it's supervillain vs. supersonic in an all-out race across the globe to stop Robotnik from using Sonic's unique power to achieve world domination.

I've seen very few movies that after showing their original trailer to so much hate and backlash turn around and make many improvements. This movie did just that and while I wasn't part of the group that rejected it, I thought this movie was great. The likeness to the Sonic I remember from the TV series was good, and Jim Carrey's portrayal while above the top was great. I can really say that I'm excited to see where the sequel to this movie goes.

Sonic was one of the last films that I saw at the cinema in 2020 before the pandemic shut everything down. It’s a film that got off to a bad start when the original trailer introduced a hideous depiction of Sonic that was so hideous that the filmmakers had to redesign Sonic or face the wrath of film fans at the box office. That move paid off in the end as they not only made Sonic look more like Sonic but people also flocked to the movies to see the film. If you grew up playing Sonic 1 and 2 as a kid in the 90’s, this is a film that will take you back. And it’s zany enough for the youth of today to enjoy as well. A fun, well executed video game movie. Anything is possible.

This was a small end of school year present for our son, who is a huge Sonic fan and wouldn't stop talking about the movie after seeing it in theaters. The presentation exceeded expectations: DVDs came in an attractive steel case, the comic book was thicker than I thought it would be, and the digital code was very easy to redeem. Pre-order arrived as promised, on 5/21/2020. We all enjoyed the movie, while not a cinematic masterpiece, it is a fun family film!

If you're complaining about a Sonic movie being aimed at kids, get a life. What were you expecting? It's a fun, sweet movie that takes you out of the real world for 90 minutes, like it was intended to do. Jim Carrey plays the heel really well and will probably get better in the follow ups if they make them. Lots of fun easter eggs for folks who grew up playing the games. Come on people. Lighten up. It's a Sonic the Hedgehog movie for crying out loud.

Much better than I was expecting. Video game adaptations have always dropped the ball based on their execution of the material they've been based on. Sonic's story is pretty out there but it works. Jim Carrey killed it as Robotnik and Small Town Sheriff James Marsden held his own as the lead. Even as a Nintendo fanboy I have zero reservation recommending this SEGA mascot to anyone who enjoys a good family friendly comedy.

Talk about a comeback! This movie is a great romp, and it's hard to believe it had such a controversial reveal, way back. This movie looks good, and sounds good, too! Hope you've got Atmos. I like Carrey as Robotnik and the humor throughout was really enjoyable. Right from the start, too. Looking forward to the upcoming sequel, too. (At the time of writing this).

I am not a video game practitioner and sharing that to start really enjoyed this movie. We first took our children to see it at the theater and felt it would be a good addition to our collection. The 4K Dolby Atmos is really really good in our theater. Watching it again the story is really entertaining fun and connecting to the betterment of society. Obviously it set up a sequel so lets see if they can match the original.
