Great - but not sure about the $50 extra for Alex

So, don’t get me wrong - these speakers are great and the features of Sonos are fantastic. The ability to play uncompressed is a killer feature for me, as I have a large FLAC library that I can now easily access anywhere in the house.
I have a few Alexa devices (some dots and originals Echos) and while the price of these is competitive with the original Echo with more features and better sound quality, I’m not sure it’s worth the expense per speaker over the Play:1.
Considering that if you set up four speakers you’re paying an extra $200, a 25% premium just for Alexa, it can really add up for what at the end of the day is a gimmick function.
Maybe for some people it’s a big deal - but even as a general Alexa fan I’m not sure if I see the need.

If you have a Sonos :1, the difference is the addition of Alexa and the nearfield voice recognition and capacitive touch controls. I prefer the actual buttons of the :1 but arguably, I don't touch the ONE as i only use voice control. The Alexa integration is good (yes, you have to do a number of things before its ready for your use), but not great. If you start the Sonos via Alexa - by voice, the Alexa app or other Alexa devices in the house - and then you pause the speaker, you won't be able to resume where you left off. Not a show stopper for music, but a pain none-the-less and hopefully something Sonos will update in the future. They certainly send out numerous updates (all of which must be installed before your speaker will work, of course).

The Sonos One is worth the extra money if you want a great bass sounding wireless speaker integrated with Alexa. Easy to setup, just download the app to your phone and follow the instructions and you'll be enjoying great sounding music in no time. Another cool feature that I love is the ability to crossfade the next song. I will definitely will keep an eye out for any black Friday specials on this product!

This is my first Sonos device but I have a few Amazon Echo's through out the house. This is a good (but expensive) alternative to the regular Amazon Echo since you get the benefits of Alexa and better quality speaker. Which is good if you plan to listen to a lot of music with it. Otherwise, it would be better to save some money and get Amazon's version.
I was hoping to use Alexa's ability to do multi-room music listening and create rooms with a mix of this and the Echo's I already have. This is not possible. Multi-room is not supported with Sonos. I should have done a little more research on this beforehand but I plan to return it and buy 2 Sonos Play1 instead. Pairing two Sonos for stereo audio really takes it to another level.
Overall, I can still recommend this if it meets your needs. Its just worth doing a little bit of research to make sure you get the right Sonos for what you are trying to achieve.

Like other Sonos speakers the Sonos One is extremely easy to set up. Sound quality is the same as the Play:1. However, I found the Alexa voice control a bit lacking. When the music is loud you also have to raise your voice significantly. Otherwise a great product.

So this is my 1st Sonos speaker and it changed my perception on being just a Bose guy. While the Alexa feature is what made me move towards the product, its not the best feature. Alexa isn't as responsive as the echo Dot and should be used as a replacement for an echo for sure. However, if you have never heard a Sonos speaker, be careful buying this unit as it will make you buy more of their product line for sure! I now own the Playbar, Sub, and another Playone! I will most likely find a way to start replacing my Lifestyle 48 system with more Sonos speakers due to their smart home integration and app!

Decided we needed something as convienent as echo dot for listening to music but with better sound. This fills the need pretty well.
Pros
Super easy set up.
Good sound.
Great multi room support
Good app.
Cons
The sound quality vs price point is not great in my opinion. For $200 I would like a stronger sound output with better lows.
The flexibility of how these can be set up and used is very good. I would buy more to add to the room and for other rooms but am hoping there will be a price drop so it can be affordable.

Absolutely amazing sound from a small speaker, couldnt find tall enough stands for them so I built my own. Not an issue for me but could be for someone else. Alexa is such a bonus here! If you get your wording right she takes amazing care of you. I have an open floor plan so when I walk in I ask her to play “whatever I’m in the mood for” and she does...most of the time. She easily adjust volume as well. Incredible feature. Makes the entire house feel alive. Then, she says “something went wrong” or whatever else she says when she can’t find what music you are looking for. Then it’s a pain but in my opinion totally worth it if you have any kind of sonos speaker or just one. This is a welcome addition to my surround sound system, I like it so much that I bought 2 more to put elsewhere in my home to have different zones.

Best Alexa speaker I've heard

I had echo plus already, when I heard this speaker in the store I was blown away. The crisp vocals, deep Bass, incredibly loud especially from it's size is amazing. Sonos I heard was great brand but now that I've heard it I actually bought another one and will be buying the playbar so I can connect these to my TV. This speaker alone CAN NOT connect to your speaker. The microphone is superb and can pick up your voice from a far distance and easy instructions setting up your Sonos with Alexa and configuring it with your other apps and smart home stuff.

If it's not enough to fuel my love for Sonos and the quality and ease of use for this speaker. The fact this has a (currently) Alehis wxa speaking assistant, and (soon-to-be) agnostic speaking assistant across Google and Apple Siri is truly remarkable. Had folks over this weekend, and they were floored at the quality of sound over the Alexa high end speaker.

One of the easiest setups I’ve done in awhile. Sonos is the real deal. Very easy to navigate the Sonos app and most importantly great sound! Only downfall is that Alexa isn’t as capable as with a regular echo device.

These speakers were easy to set up, and they sound fantastic. Truly marvelous that they can sound so full and sharp while being so small. Yes, the sound easily fills a decent size room at just level 5 (haven't tried full volume). The bonus is that you can control them with your voice. I highly recommend these speakers.

I initially bought 2 Sonos One's and a soundbar for my TV room to replace my Bose setup... then I realized Sonos is pronominal, in both sound quality and ease of use. So I started buying more Sonos One speakers and putting them in different rooms throughout the house. Everything is linked via WiFi and the speakers are App driven from your smart phone. The sound quality is next to none, and I love being able to group them, ungroup them (music in one room and movie in the other), or control volume from my phone... There is Zero sound lag between the speakers and the music is seamless as you walk from room to room... Often times I'll play a movie, and run it on the speaker in the kitchen too so that I don't miss anything when I'm cooking, and my wife can be listening to music on the same system in another room without interfering with my sound experience... I didn't realized that I had been missing music in my life before this, and now that I use my Sonos system every day, i can't imagine my home without Sonos... Its a slippery slope, but oh so worth it. Try it. It will change your life.
