Customers frequently mention the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. Positive feedback also highlights the long battery life and user-friendly touch controls. However, some customers find the headphones to be a bit expensive and heavy. A few users also noted that the volume could be higher and the fit may not be ideal for all head shapes.

I love how the rest of the world disappears when I put these on. They are comfortable and the sound is fantastic. I use them to watch TV late at night and I don't have to worry about keeping up the rest if the house.

These are so amazing. I used them on a plane trip from Fort Lauderdale to Sacremento and I could hear the movies I watched the entire way. There was no sound from the jet engines at all and I was seated right in front of the wings. It has a feature that can allow voices to come through the headphones using the external mics it uses for noise cancelling, but block out everything else. So when the flight attendant would come by, I could hear her perfectly without hearing the engine at all. I could actually hear her better with the headphones on while using this feature than when I took them off. Great sound quality too. I ended up returning them because I couldn't justify the price, but if you have the money to spend and want the best, these are the ones for sure!

These are awesome when traveling frequently. The active noise canceling works very well on a plane and the battery life is beyond my expectation. Controls are intuitive and work well with both my iPad and Samsung S7.

I've previously preferred Sony noise cancelling headphones to Bose before and this time is no different. Comfortable to wear, clear as a bell music, and multiple neat features to control volume and advance music tracks.

Bought these to replace an older pair of Sony headphones that were accidentally stepped on and broke. I was debating between this pair, Bose's NC headphones, and Beats. I'm really pleased that I listened to the sales associate who recommended this pair. They are amazing and are built with functionality in mind. There are some cool features, like moving your hand up or down on the ear piece to raise or lower the volume, and being able to hear surrounding noise while in noise cancelling mode by placing your hand over the ear pieces (really helpful on a flight when the attendant or a travel buddy is trying to ask/tell you something). What really sold me though was that if the battery dies, negating the Bluetooth function, you can still just connect them to a device using the aux cord that comes with the headphones (apparently you can't do this with the other headphones I was considering at the time). The only reason I didn't give the product five stars is because I've only had them for a few weeks.

Was ready to buy Bose QC35 but BB salesperson convinced me to try this Sony 1000x and I'm glad he did. Noise cancelling is pretty good and overall sound is great. Touch controls on right ear cup is pretty cool particularly when u cover it and it allows you to hear voice around u.

Liked these headphones a lot. Great quality of product and comfortable on the head. Be able to hear ambient noise when you want is a nice feature. Only con is that other people can hear your music.

MDRs Vs QC35s

Purchased the MDR-1000X and took them into the Bose store. I pit the both of them against each other inside the Bose store to see which performed better. MDR's beat the QC35 on noise cancellation. QC35 let more noise in than than the MDR. Sound quality was also better than the QC35s. Switched between the two of these listening for about an hour inside the Bose store. If you're dubious about the MDRs do what I did. Buy them and take them into the Bose store and see for yourself. Return it if it doesn't out perform the Bose in noise cancellation and sound quality.

I feel the Sony MDR1000X is superior to the Bose QC35 for noise cancellation, sound quality and features. The touch pad function is a little finicky but, you get used to it in a short time. I wanted to love these headphones but, here is the deal breaker for me. I bought and returned three pair of them due to a creaking/clicking noise in the ear cups swivel hinges with nearly every movement of my head. I tried to ignore it but, just could not live with that. I'm quite disappointed as these are great headphone otherwise. In my research, I came across many complaints about this design oversight. Based on the noise canceling, sound quality and features I feel they are worth the price. I would recommend the Sony MDR1000X as the creaking/clicking may not bother others as the intensity of it varied in the three sets I owned or you might get a set without this issue. At this price point and considering the competition they should work without incident.

Great headphones. One flight already 4+ hrs and these sounded great, felt very comfortable and noise canceling was great. Ability to hold hand over right cup and hear everything was very convenient!

Best features: excellent, natural sound with a spacious stage; well built; very light and comfortable; long battery life; no wires
Cons: expensive; could be slightly louder
This is both my first pair of wireless headphones and noise cancelling headphones. I had resisted adopting either technology for years, mainly due to skepticism of the performance of those technologies while being perfectly happy with the higher end Etymotics earbuds that I have listened to for thousands of hours over the last decade.
I love these headphones. The lack of wires is so liberating. The sound is very natural and the sound stage feels huge compared to any other headphones I have ever tried. While I think they could be a little bit louder, the noise cancelling makes it so that I find myself more frequently wanting to turn the volume down than up. These headphones remain super clear even when listening at lower volumes. When paired with the superb NR, the natural response curve and clarity at low volumes makes for an impressive experience. I honestly did not expect to be so blown away by these headphones.
The NR works very well, but I haven't taken these on a flight yet to test the real value of this feature. If you enable the NR without any audio playing, voices drop to a barely audible murmur and other more consistent sounds, like the growl of our HVAC system, completely disappear. Once any audio is playing, even at very low levels, outside noise including voices can't be heard. I'm heading out on a flight tomorrow, so I'm excited to give these a real test.
A note about testing these headphones in the store: while the MDR-1000x sounded good during the demo, I thought that Bose had selected a better playlist to highlight the strengths of the QC35. If I had based my decision to purchase on the in store demonstration alone, as I wasn't able to listen to the MDR-1000x using my phone as a source, I would have probably picked the Bose QC35. They were priced equally at the time, so I let the online reviews sway me toward the MDR-1000x. Once I took the headphones home and tested them with my own music, any insecurity over the decision to pick the Sony fell aside and I felt confident with my pick.
The only hesitation I have to these headphones is the price. They are expensive, but I can't imagine seeing a product that seems so perfect priced much lower. I'll report back on the NR after my trip.

Pretty comfortable, great sound quality. Only 2 downsides are the inability to switch between paired sources and accidental touching causing pausing or skipping when putting on the headphones.

I had my wife yell at me from across the room, and again from about six feet away. Could not hear her at all. Love the sound and at all volumes, it is clear. Also very comfortable on the ears.
