Great headphones for a busy workplace

I purchased these headphones to block out sound from my coworkers music so I could take online courses. When I tried them in the store, they even blocked out the noise of a busy best buy. I have had no problem concentrating on my online training for work, no matter what music is playing, or how many people come in my office and try to disturb me. These headphones work as advertised.

I have easily spent over 100 hours using these headphones since my purchase. They are comfortable, they have excellent noise cancelling, which only gets better once you turn them on. The sound quality that they produce (when powered on) is fantastic. I personally find the sound to be a better quality than the Bose Q35s, but it is very comparable, so you may feel differently.

I love my Sony MDX1000 noise cancelling headphones. I live in a noisy apartment building downtown. My neighbors are so loud. I was looking for noise canceling headphones that I could use to listen to classical music and fall asleep. I went to Best Buy and listened to all the noise cancelling headphones they had to offer.... including BOSE and the overrated BEATS headphones by Dre, I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised at the superiority of MDX 1000. Compared to the other leading brands, it holds battery charge for over 20 hours. I barely charge it once a week. It is leather, so it's easy to clean if using for workouts. It can connect to Bluetooth almost 50ft, trust me I tested it. The sound is superior and noise canceling is amazing. I can't even hear my own voice when I use it. Lol. I absolutely made the right choice with this headphones.

The Sony MDR-1000X are a fantastic set of headphones. The active noise cancellation is amazing. I don't find the "ear pressure" associated with active noise cancellation as noticeable with these cans as I do the Bose QC. The sound is well balanced and very clean even at high volumes. Bluetooth range is excellent. Connectivity needs help, hopefully through future software updates, as switching between devices requires powering down Bluetooth on one of the devices. The touch controls work well and the battery life seems to be better than what it's rated for. The actual noise cancellation is awesome. If you switch environments and say start mowing your lawn you can activate the optimizer and they will adjust the noise cancellation to the specific environment. This works well as I did it with my snowblower and could barely hear it after.

These are an outstanding headphone. I had the QC35's, but wasn't really thrilled. Caught these on a sweet deal. Noise cancelling great. Sound great. Battery life is excellent. Features are practical, I use them often. Definitely a bonus to me. Build quality is solid. Looks are subjective, but to me mostly plain. They are actually smaller and better looking in-person, though. My one complaint: the depth of the earcup is shallow. This means my ears touch the inside. This affects comfort by making my ears hot. The Bose QC35's were better in this regard. Overall, these headphones are the best NC, wireless headphones on the market as of September 2017. They surpass the Bose QC35's in every area but comfort. It is not to say that these are uncomfortable, to the contrary they are very comfortable - just slightly less comfortable than the Bose. You can often catch them for $350 and on rare occasions $300 and I encourage you to go ahead and make the purchase if you are considering them. If you think they are OK at time of purchase you will love them days later. They just get better with time.

I wish I had known about Bluetooth headphones sooner. I'm impressed and very pleased that the MDR-1000X have absolutely none of the noise, static and other audio glitches of the RF type. The Noise Cancelling feature is very effective and can be turned on or off with the push of a button. You can briefly hold your hand over the right cup to momentarily mute the sound, or just tap the center of the cup to pause your music or video. Slide your finger up/down on the cup to change volume and swipe forwards or back to move to the next/previous track. But here's what's really important: they sound great! The sound is full and it's almost like being surrounded by typical surround sound speakers. In movies, I hear subtle sounds off to the sides and (seemingly) in the rear that I don't hear with the speakers. Worth every penny.

Like many, I looked at these and the Bose QC35. I ended up going with these mainly because of the better design and the extra features. The Sony MDR-1000X are well-built with solid headband and tactile buttons. The noise cancellation is excellent, completely taking away low frequency hum of the jet engine or HVAC system in the office building. Features like cupping the right earcup to let ambient noise through works very well and is very useful. Touch control On the right earcup also works great. I am mostly using it to listen to music on streaming service and podcast so I cannot comment much on the sound quality. The sound signature is relatively flat. The headphones do support Hi-Res audio if you have a supported Sony device. I take away one star because they cannot fast switch between devices. You have manually unpair from one device and repair on another.

The MDR-1000x is probably the best N/C headset on the market today. I use it at home and in the office. it basically blocks out the sounds of the fans the AC the machines. My biggest disappointment is that it does not automatically switch between BT connected devices or allow multiple connections. For example, I can't have it paired and on while using the computer to make a Skype call. There are way around it, but it involves turning one of the devices off. Just like I cannot listen to music on the phone if it is paired to the PC. There are much more small things like this, you can google and find out instead of reading here. Sony could easily fix this with firmware updates. The other item is that the Sony App is not compatible with this unit. The app allows for customization. Other companies have implemented this before this excellent n/c headset was released. I have loved Sony products since I was a kid. They were the Best of the Best. with a few updates, hopefully, via a firmware or something, this product would be the gold standard.

These are ABSOLUTELY THE BEST HEADPHONES I'VE EVER SEEN OR USED! Some may be put off by the price, however for the quality and value they are a much better deal than some higher priced ones. The sound is superb and gives a true stereophonic experience. I literally found myself looking to the right or left at times to see where the sound was coming from while watching movies. Listening to your favorite groups or artist will be a real treat as you enjoy the full range of music. PARENTS-well sometimes you just want and need to get away for a little "ME TIME". When the kids have gone out for the evening or gone to bed, put your favorite tunes on, grab your favorite beverage, slip these very comfortable headphones on and TOTALLY RELAX!!! Well worth the money!

These headphones are easily the best I've ever had the pleasure of using. In the past I used Beats, Sennheiser, Bose and nothing compares to the sound quality along with noise cancellation. I used these on a flight from Milwaukee to California (about 6 hours) and the whole time I was unable to hear the roar of the planes engine.

The headphones work as advertised, they are comfortable have great quality of sound the noise cancellation really blocks out the back ground noise, they are a little pricey; if they have longevity in years of use could justify in value. I suspect the next generation of head phones will make this a mute point. Excellent Product

Over the ears are much better at noise cancelling than in-ear. Problem though is that they are bad for sleeping with. I have the Bose in ear for that and the Sony for the rest of the time. I tested both the Sony 1000 and the Bose QC35. For me, the 1000 provided better sound, a better user interface and better comfort on my ears. When you have full noise cancelling on the Sony does a better job than the Bose. Bose is always letting a fair amount of the ambient noise whereas the Sony blocks much more. When you want to talk to someone you just hold your hand on the the right ear cup and it temporarily puts the headset in voice mode. Just such an easy method which allows a higher level of noise cancelling than the Bose offers.

Great Sounding & Comfortable ANC Headphones

I've been wanting ANC headphones for a while and could never bring myself to get any because they were all too uncomfortable and didn't have passable audio quality. I demoed both these and the Bose QC 35s. I ended up with these because I loved the integrated gesture controls and the quick change out of ANC mode, and they sounded marginally better than the Bose. While they aren't studio quality (the mids and highs are a tiny bit muddied) for ANC headphones they're phenomenal. I wear them all day to kill the drone of the AC in my office and 1) they're still confortable at the end of the day, and 2) have helped me lower my overall anxiety at work and improved my concentration and creativity. Will recommend them to anyone.

Got one at a deal price. The performance about noise cancelling, quality of sound are very impressive. The construction and more metal materials are of higher quality outlooking than the other most of popular headphones on market --- the negative points are it is a bit too heavy when I wear it, and it is kindly of sweating for my ears after I wear it for about 30 minutes. The sound is very good to listen to popular music, but not perfect for classic music. For the wireless, it connects cellphones, Android or iPhone very well, but does not work with my iMac, neither with iPad / Mac Book Air. Maybe I didn't find the right way, I checked but could not find any information about it either on Sony.com nor Google.

Amazing Bluetooth + noise cancelling headphones!

If you're specifically looking for a pair of Bluetooth headphones with an outstanding noise cancelling feature, then these would be an excellent option. At the time I am writing this review, the headphones are on sale for $299. The noise cancelling feature is amazing and does a great job blocking outside noise. As far as sound, it has a great tight punchy bass but its very lean and not really bass heavy. It has great clarity and combined with the dynamic range, it provides a great sounding headphone with all types of music. Now if you're looking for headphones and don't care too much for the noise cancelling feature then that is another story as there are cheaper headphones with even better sound. Majority of your money is going towards the noise cancelling feature. Also, here is a great video that basically explains everything you need to know about these headphones: https://youtu.be/LbqUPrdESkk Hope this helps!
