Customers frequently mention the excellent sound quality and comfortable fit of the 1000X Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones. Positive feedback also highlights the long battery life and user-friendly touch controls. However, some customers find the headphones to be a bit expensive and heavy. A few users also noted that the volume could be higher and the fit may not be ideal for all head shapes.

These headphones are awesome. Great noise cancelling and great sound quality. Touch controls take a little to get used to but took me about 2 days to get used to and then it was automatic. Battery life is great. I haven't had any pairing issues yet (knock on wood). I got it discounted by 50 bucks during best buy's promotion so was worth the money. Better than the qc 35 imo but honestly can't really go wrong with any of those. If you can get the sony mdr 1000x for the same price as the qc 35, I will definitely go with the sony's.

I'm not professional and can't write "professional"reviews, and frankly don't care either about spec parameters, all i care its very comfortable to wear, and gives you rich music and incredibly intuitive in operations. Active noise cancellation is so far the best from the headphones I've had, with on and off options, and on top separate regulator 4 ambient sound which i don't use much but some may find useful. Has NFC start connect too. High price tag might be the only concern but it's a high quality headpiece

It is best noise cancellation that I tried. It is really best choice in industry for now. Some people blame quality of arc plastic, but I did not have such problem yet.

Great headphones! Amazing sound quality!
Luckily I don't have too big of ears so they fit me just fine. Which some people need to keep in mind, not everyone is the same and we all come in different shapes and sizes.

My wife uses these at work to shut out the noisy coworkers in the office. Playing a white noise track, she can shut out the loud typing and coworkers talking on the phone in the nearby cubicles. Unfortunately, it can't stop them from tapping her on the shoulder and constantly asking questions. :)

I liked these so much that I bought a pair for my wife before we took a long flight for vacation. The noise cancelling is the best I've ever used, bose included. I also like the touch controls and other features that allow you to hear ambient noise and voices. One thing I would keep in mind - these are not audiophile headphones. Don't get me wrong - the sound is great, but it doesn't rival a true pair of headphones geared towards critical listening. Ultimately, I'm really happy - but knew that going in.

I am more interested in blocking noise then listening to music, personally. When I need to concentrate I like silence. These headphones are the absolute best in market for blocking out noise. I especially love that you can hold the noise cancelling button for a couple seconds and it will measure your head and adjust the noise canceling to fit you. Of course, audio sounds great too. I only charge them about once a week and use them for a few hours a day so I'd say the battery life is pretty good also.

I tried out the Sony MDR 1000x and the Bose QC35. The Bose had better design and was more comfortable than the Sony. Noise cancellation was pretty close with Bose having a slight edge. I really like Sony's extra features like swiping/tapping to adjust volume/change songs. Sony's idea of being able to pause noise cancellation/music by placing your hand over the outside of the headphone is a great feature. The dealbreaker was that the MDR-1000x had much better sound quailty than the Bose in my opinion.

Amazing headphones. Did a bit of research and decided on these because of price. The ones that I read were number one were these Bose headphones but I tried them out and they were not good at all. You these Sony sets on and game over. Sound quality is perfect. Noise cancelling is flawless. It could use more bass, but not a deal breaker in my opinion. Battery life lasts forever too. I know they released a newer one with longer battery life but honestly, they are the same headphones.

I love these headphones. There are the best 4Hz-40Khz in wired mode & the classic 20Hz-20Khz in bluetooth mode. They are very comfy too, very!
Two caveats:
- one 1 device can be connected to it. most modern bluetooth headset can have at most 2 device connect to it (iPad & iPhone for example)
- not firmware upgradable => can't be improved by Sony.
Hope the MDR-1100x will address these issues

I've been trying to find something negative to say about these headphones with no luck. Being able to seamlessly switch between noise cancelling and ambient noise features is great. The wireless voice sounds perfect and I have yet to hear complaints from the people on the other side of the line. These are definitely pricy and that was a hard pill to swallow initially but I have no regrets. One last thing, the battery on mine has lasted me way more than 30 hours on a single charge.

If you've never tried noise-cancelling headphones before, you're in for a treat. I generally avoid on-ear headphones because they feel bulky and unwieldy, but these cease to exist as soon as you place them on your head. Great for reading in a crowded/noisy area (coffee shop, airport, etc) as well as relaxing at home. The controls are very intuitive, and as with every Sony product I've used in the past, the build quality is superb. The included carry case is also very nice.

I got these about a month ago...it was between the Bose and these.
These were on sale so helped sway my decision. They are comfortable and easy to learn. Music sounds good and noise cancelling works.

Liked them so much I purchased another for a family member. These headphone are very comfortable, but more importantly they certainly block out the noise,. They are easy to use, easy to connect, and it really is amazing how they filter out noise. The feature where you can hear someone speaking to you momentarily (by placing hand over right side of headphone) is very handy. I also love how they fold up into a nice travel case. I wish there was a volume control button without having to swipe up/down on the headphones. Other than that, and their price, these are very nice headphones and I am enjoying them very much.

Excellent Headphones with Good Bass and Clarity. I like the gestures to control volume and tracks. Highlight is the Pause gesture ..cover your right ear cup, it pauses/reduces the volume to very low

I upgrading from old Sony MDR-NC60s that I absolutely loved. I didn't need bluetooth, but now that I have it, it is awesome! The soundstage is very wide and crisp. I have now flown a few flights with these, and I can't believe what an excellent job they do at silencing the outside world.
I was torn between getting these or the cheaper bose ones, but thesis were worth every extra penny I spent. I listed to both of these and the bose ones in-store, and the sony's were much better.

First venture into buying headphones in this category and price. I am blown away by the quality of the sound. And the noise cancellation works a treat! Great way to stop hearing the nagging wife ;) Seriously this is one superior product. I compared it with the bose instore and this just felt more comfortable to wear and sounded a iittle sweeter. All in all a good purchase.

The Sony MDR-1000X headset is a very good headset, worthy of competing with Bose's QC35. It sounds great, can be worn comfortably for hours (even when wearing glasses), and stows neatly in its included carry case. Build quality is above average.
Unfortunately, Sony's attention to the controls is lacking. While the touchpad on the right earcup is nifty, and provides access to key features (Quick Attention, especially), it can be frustrating to use regularly, especially for large changes. Additionally, managing devices/pairing is a bear, with 95% of the process relying on the media device. To switch devices, you must physically interact with the intended device, a far cry from the easy toggle and headset management app provided by Bose. Sony has also hard-coded the headset's device name, making it difficult to determine which specific Sony headset is the intended device to be paired without isolating it.
Also of note is the poor battery indicators. The only indicator given for non-iOS devices is on the headset itself. No audio warning is given, save for the prompt immediately before shutoff. This is immensely frustrating, especially since the headset cannot be used while charging.
Overall, I would probably recommend/buy again. The majority of my issues could potentially be fixed, if Sony decides to develop a new app and/or issue software/firmware updates. However, if you intend to use noise cancelling (ANC) all the time, I would strongly recommend you consider the Bose QC35 as well.
