I needed a replacement receiver for my 15 year old one that powers my surround sound. Great price for a great receiver. Very user friendly and easy to set up. It has all the modern hookups you need, especially HDMI. I especially liked it because it also supports older component hookups for devices like my Xbox 360.

I am a sound buff and what I like about it is the ability to have my HDMI gizmos all running through the same monitor. It took some reading to figure out how to get the subwoofer to work, now that it works it sounds awesome. I look forward to the day when I can evolve it to it's full capacity with surround sound. Likes. HDMI, switches to the input signal it detects if only one is connected, smart audio for adjusting volume so it is loud but not so loud the next room is shaking. Dislikes: even an only audio input changes the monitor from viewing. HDMI tries to find audio so if i have the audio set up on red and white cables, but the monitor hooked up to the computer via HDMI then it tries to find sound through the HDMI even though the cables are hooked up via red and white audio. This may be avoidable but it may require more reading of the owners manual than I care to read at the moment.

We owned the former version of this receiver for nearly 15 years. That alone is a testament to Sonys quality. When I went searching for a fair priced upgrade, I was pleasantly surprised by the high reviews of this model, the great price through Best Buy and the many upgraded features. The Auto Speaker setting with the included mic was a great way to get started. The iOS app (also available for android) makes tweaking and experimenting with sound settings a breeze. Blue tooth feature is nice, but I am a little disappointed with the range. I have to stay within 12-15 ft. Regardless, the sound and power are good and it seems to run at a far cooler temp than its predecessor. I don't think you'll do much if any better for under $250-$300.

This is the finest receiver I could have imagined for the money. Simple setup with flexible features and plenty of power. The sound reproduction is smooth and clear. Also, the stereo/surround is very refined.

HDMI Pass-through works great. Full 145 watts per each of 7 channels. Skip the auto-speaker setup. Manual is much easier and more accurate. Extremely easy to use remote. Surround sound actually sounds real.

I bought this receiver after reading several reviews on it. I was looking for something to use in my living room that had the HDMI Arc feature and something that had enough power for my klipsch speakers. This receiver works great. I've had it for 7 months now with no issues. Easy to setup. I have no issues with this receiver for what I us it for.

This was a fantastic buy for the power and features. The setup was quick and painless, and the receiver is performing great. The lack of a detailed manual was a bit inconvenient, but the answers are all available online and in downloadable form.

I had a Sony Stereo Receiver I was using, but needed a Home Receiver to connect my new polk book shelf speakers, polk sub, PS4, and TV to. I got this on sale for $149.00 and couldn't be happier at this point. It has enough HDMI's on it for me, enough watts, and produces great sound. It doesn't have wi-fi capability but that's not a huge concern to me. The bluetooth works great. I connect it to my iPhone or iMac to stream music and it works perfect. Set up was pretty easy, but I had a problem at first accessing the set up menu. It took some time to figure out how to get into it. Seems it could be easier that's the only reason not giving 5 stars.

Great product. Excellent base. Has HDMI hookups for several different outputs (Video, DVD, etc). Very simple to hook up. System has great output and sound. I bought Klipsch speakers and it sounds great!

We purchased this receiver to replace an old (15 year plus?) Sony receiver, whIch didn't have the ability to handle HDMI or even optical cable connections. This was really easy to set up, including the supplied microphone to set up speakers. The sound quality is great with my Bose speakers. Also really like being able to connect via Bluetooth (iPod, iPhone). I'd give it 5 stars, except for one reason - we HAVE to use the receiver for sound (unable to simply turn on tv and satellite box to watch). Maybe this is the case for all pass-thru receivers and I should have known up front! Overall a great value for the money.

Did some research and settled for this receiver. I needed an up grade from my old receiver which was a Sony also.it did't have any hdmi inputs or outputs and i needed one to go with my new sharp 70 aquos+ that I was buying. This is the best receiver that I've ever owned. The old one was good also but this is much better.much power and every thing that i needed.enough HDMI and very clean volume when turned up. Have not tried the Bluetooth as yet.but this is one of the features that you have also.turns off by it self when left idled.it automautically programmed itself with the sharp tv.you have to get a powered subwoofer to go with this receiver.buy one and try it out for yourself. You won't regret.

I bought this to replace an older tuner I had used for a decade. My old tuner never really delivered the sound quality I expected when watching movies despite having a nice 5 speaker set (Bose) with subwoofer. I still have an older T.V. and had to use an adapter from the receiver to the T.V. but was expecting that. This tuner has a ton of inputs and was very easy to set up and use. I spent about an hour hooking up speakers and adjusting things then fired up a movie. All I can say is WOW. The system sounds like I had hoped it would all along.

I think this Sony is a good value. It has a number of features, including 7 channels and a remote setting where you can have a set of speakers in a different room, or outside, that play separately. The sound is good and it is pretty easy to set up. It takes a bit of time to become familiar with all of the features, but that is common with these types of receivers. Especially if you have multiple video sources to handle, this receiver makes it much easier.

This receiver is excellent. Setup was quick and the sound is tremendous. I like that it auto-commuication between devices and having bluetooth makes music selections much easier than using my Mac.

I wish it had a better owner's manual and setup manual. It just gives you the basics. I could not get the calibration to work no matter what I tried. It only passes through on one HDMI channel. So if you want to hear your games, or movies on your tv then you have to turn on your receiver. The sound is clear and there is plenty of power for my smaller speakers that i have now.

Hello buckshot!, This unit has the capability of allowing sound to go through as long as the unit is in standby using the option called Pass Through which can be activated by following these steps : 1- Select [Settings] 2- Select [HDMI Settings] from the home menu, 3- Select [Pass Through]. 4- Select either ON or Auto ( if you have the control for HDMI on). Very good Lower end receiver for the money. In my system it replaced a much older BK unit. The sound is very close. Perhaps not quite as smooth and natural, or that could be just me, very tough to tell. Design is good, connectivity is good. Setup was easy. My only issue is it won't communicate with my Samsung phone via Bluetooth for sound only. I can use the phone as a remote. My iPad works fine. If not for that, five stars.

Excellent level of features for the price. Bluetooth and home network aware so it can access home music server. Sadly, the Best Buy web site lists features that are not actually on the unit (component video inputs) which was part of the reason I purchased it. The menu system interface (routed through the HDMI) is very basic, and not entirely intuitive compared to some others I've seen but is decently functional. The auto set up for the surround sound is helpful as a starting point, but needed improvement, at least for the room we have it in.
