Ok sound quality
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it because it was on sale but I’m not really impressed with it. Sound is ok and the bass is almost not presented. I turned the bass all the way up but still no different. Returned and got a different Sony that sounds a lot better.

Helpful Sales Rep, inferior product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I did my research and the Sales Rep was actually very helpful, but the product is very poor. No matter what I did, I could not get the subwoofer to function. Only time I could get sound out of it was when I moved it to within 12" of the soundbar and even then, it was broken up and didn't work properly. Any distance past that and it won't connect. And forget about getting any help from Sony ... it simply doesn't exist. I tried for hours, searching their online help (no help). Took another hour to find a support telephone number (not listed anywhere with the product) and left a message for a call back (no answer of course). Soundbar sounds pretty good, but paid a lot for a subwoofer that sits idle and doesn't work.

Why Sell A Bad Product ???
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I happily opened the carton. Unpacked the soundbar, subwoofer, and accessories. I followed the instructions to set it up. The subwoofer NEVER linked up with soundbar. This is with both items 2" apart !!!!!!!!!! I tried to reset the soundbar ( as instructed by the owner's manual ) and, still NOTHING. The sound that did come out of the soundbar was tinney sounding, as compared to the sound of the tv speakers in my LG tv. I did read the reviews and the positive outweighed the negative. Today I repackaged it for return. DO NOT BUY !!!!!!!!

Poor Sound Quality
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was disappointed with the quality and clarity of sound. It wasn't much of an upgrade over the in TV speaker, so I returned it.

What a dissapointment!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My sister has a Sony sound bar and sub hooked up to her TV and it sounds great. I thought I would purchase this one because it was what I felt a decent price and it was a couple steps higher than her model. Wow! what a piece of junk. I was going to put in my bedroom, but I'm just so disappointed in this thing I gave it to someone else hoping they like it. If I could return this thing I would in heartbeat, but I threw out the boxes thinking it would be ok. I love Sony products! This purchase left a sour taste in my mouth. I wouldn't recommend this package to anyone.

Great for Small Spaces but not Perfect
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This compact sound bar can be a good companion to a TV in a bedroom or other smaller room that does not already have its own sound system. It can effectively upgrade your TV's built-in speakers into something that's more rich and dynamic, however most TV speakers are poor sounding to begin with. While it's no substitute for a good receiver and 5.1 speaker setup the S-Force Pro surround emulation actually does a good job in simulating surround sound effects. I'm not sure how it works since I know it's coming from this little bar sitting under my TV but at the very beginning of the Empire Strikes Back for example I can hear the probes behind me as they are dispatched from the belly of a Star Destroyer. When paired with my particular TV I noticed an improvement in dialog clarity (ability to understand what is being said) and much better music quality. My bedroom TV has Roku built in so I used the optical output from the TV to the soundbar. The subwoofer is hit or miss...sometimes it sounds great and I want to turn up the bass (there is a separate bass control on the remote) and sometimes at full bass volume it was a bit distracting and I had to turn it down. Seems that the sub mostly sounds good for music tracks but can be a bit distorted in action movies. My main issues with this system are the lack of an LCD screen and no HDMI inputs at all. While it does have little LED indicators on top that react when you push a button on the remote it is impossible to determine what volume it's set at or whether features such as Night or Voice are actually turned on or off. The lack of HDMI is more about future interoperability and functionality than actual sound quality. Optical audio is 100% digital and in no way inferior to HDMI however it is becoming less and less common on devices as HDMI is so prevalent. Optical out was omitted on the latest version of the Apple TV for example. I didn't try the USB or analog inputs. Bluetooth is extremely easy to use though and works as you'd expect. Without HDMI you also don't get to use some advanced features that could make up for the lack of indicators. For example, most recent TVs and streaming devices are able to control the volume and power of connected sound equipment through HDMI, and will then display the volume on the TV. Also, without this you are stuck using two remotes or a universal one to control both TV and sound bar. Pros: Compact Easy to Setup Subwoofer can be placed under furniture Bluetooth Surround Sound Emulation Cons: Weak subwoofer No volume / feature indicators No HDMI input Would only recommend to someone who wants or needs the compact form factor and can live with its quirks. However, at this price range there are other products out there that do not have these shortcomings and perhaps even better sound.

Boost tv sound but not much bass
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It does boost the sound to the tv but the bass is not very good. Would be nice to have a feature that showed what settings you were on instead of just a blinking light.

Not enough power, not able to control
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not enough power, sounded much better in store, then when we got home, I thought that a sound bar, would make the sound separate, it sounds like one speaker and one speaker only

Poor design NO HDMI PORT
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this Sony sound bar and a new Sony smart TV. I THOUGHT THEY WOULD WORK TOGETHER. The sound bar DOES NOT HAVE AN HDMI port it connects to the TV by optical cable. THIS MEANS YOU MUST USE THE SOUND BAR REMOTE TO CONTROL THE SOUND. I have to use the sound bar remote and the Directv remote. When I watch ROKU, I have to use the TV remote to change the input source, the sound bar remote and the ROKU remote control. Keeping four remote controls for TV viewing is not convenient.

Quality Sound Bar with Sub-woofer
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Sony's soundbar is a quality product. The soundbar is smaller than most, yet with as good or better sound, so that you can fit it in more places without it being obtrusive. The sub-woofer is compact and can be used alongside furniture or under most furniture like a couch or chair. It sets up in a snap. Just follow the simple instructions by plugging in both the soundbar and sub-woofer into outlets, hooking the soundbar to your TV or other device (an optical cable is included), putting the supplied batteries in the remote, then turning it on. Mine paired with my satellite system without issue. The sub-woofer is connected to the soundbar via Bluetooth. Sony offers several pre-programmed sound configurations, plus it offers additional combinations and settings that many manufacturers do not offer. The sound I get with this unit is better than what I received with an Insignia soundbar/sub-woofer setup before. This is a quality product you will enjoy.

Good overall, but lacking little things
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I want to start off with what I think is the biggest flaw of this sound system, the very annoying lack of inputs available. Be warned now if you get this unit that it only has 3 input methods, an optical audio link, a standard headphone plug type in, and Bluetooth. The latter is really only useful if you want to pair the sound bar with your phone for audio output (and possibly an apple TV or other TV box if it supports Bluetooth sound out). The one major thing that is missing for an input is HDMI in with ARC support. The lack of any HDMI inputs or passthroughs means you may be limited on how you can use the sound bar if your TV is of the type that does not have an optical audio out. Please note however that you can purchase a converter if your TV has digital audio out to go from the digital audio coaxial out to the optical audio coaxial in but they cost about 30-50 dollars and its an added expense. I think this issue could have easily been avoided if they would have included either HDMI or coaxial digital audio in as well as the other connection type. Due to the lack of input types I had to find a creative way to get the audio off of the devices I use to the sound bar but once I got that figured out everything else seemed worth it. Sound Quality on this unit is except-able for the price range but not perfect. At times the included wireless sub seems to add a bit of echo to the sound making some sounds seem a bit like they are in an amphitheater. This can be avoided if you leave the sub near the TV though that seems like a shame considering they market a "Couch Mode" with the unit being wireless. Obviously location in the room and surrounding objects can affect the way the sub sounds so pick an area of your room that won't offer lots of reflective sound surfaces and you will probably get better sound out of the sub. As for the sound bar itself I enjoyed the several different modes the bar offers for music, movies, and night mode. Overall quality was good if not a little tinny at times but it pairs well with the sound of the sub, and for a 2.1 channel system fills a surprisingly large room with understandable audio even at higher volumes. The only think I wish this unit had on the audio side was the ability to have your own mix adjustments for how you like to listen to music. For some music the mids seems to be lacking at times and it would have been nice to be able to turn down the treble just a bit. If your looking for a simple 2.1 system to use in place of bad TV speakers this is a good unit to choose. Since getting this unit we have started using it all the time instead of the TV speakers just because the sound is that much better, and if your TV supports optical audio out hooking up the bar is very very simple. Just give the bar power attache the single optical audio cable (which was included in the box, a very nice touch by Sony) and you are good to go. Very quick and easy.

Open box deals..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered a Sony soundbar with one hr pick up that was open box and on sale. It didn't say anything was missing but all that was handed to me (with no gloves and a mask that was pulled below his chin) was a soundbar and a subwhoffer... its missing a remote and a USB connection. No instruction manual. Not sure what else. But I'll be going back tomorrow for the 3rd time. hope things will be resolved but will update.
