Meaning it overrides the TV Volume when you put the Bar on and TV volume goes off automatically. It doesn't. The Directions say turn TV volume off. It must cost money to do those kind of things. For Large rooms you would need more expensive Sony Bar

Are they designed that way? After 2 or 3 online support chats and 4 phone support chats they couldn't tell me what was wrong. By the end of the last call the problem was narrowed down, but it took days and hours to get to that. One guy named jay wouldnt even help me, saying I wasnt calling the right number, even though the other three reps worked with me. It was beyond a frustrating experience. A google search turned up a poor sony customer service rating. I think I will be avoiding sony from now on.

Waste of money

The bar itself is decent, but the sub woofer, if you can call it that, it very weak. The only way you would know it was on is if you were sitting on it. Exchanged it for the Vizio 5.1 system which was only $17 more. Not even a close comparison. 5.1 sound plus a woofer that actually produces bass. Not sure why Sony even makes this and charges $200 for it.
