Purchased this with my new Sony tv. It has pretty good sound and the wireless sub woofer has no issues connecting and it sounds good for its size. Am totally happy with it. My only complaint is when I looked in to adding the Sony wireless speakers as rear channels (Sony srs-zr5) they are 199 a piece. That is way to expensive for 1 speaker. It's a good speaker but not at that price point. That is why I gave this four stars. I was so disappointed at the price of them I almost gave it 3 stars but that would not be fair cause this review is about the sound bar with wireless subwoofer, which is a good product and not very expensive. especially when it seems to always be on sale at bestbuy. I would definitely look at this if you are buying a Sony tv. Still not a replacement for a true surround sound system but a good compromise for people who don't have the money for a true expensive surround sound system. Makes movies more enjoyable.

Needed this to have 4K HDR signal throughout Roku Premier+ and Sony 4K HDR tv. Overall a great sound bar with some issues that could have been prevented by Sony. First, they removed the tv power button on the remote? Why Sony? This makes absolutely no sense. You now are forced to use the tv remote to turn on the tv. If you want to make sound adjustments, then you have to use the sound bar remote. This was a terrible move by Sony. Also a good software update is needed to provide better bass throughout the soundfields. The best setting is movie, voice up 2, subwoofer at 10. All other soundfields almost completely remove the subwoofer volume. Took a ridiculous amount of time to tweak these settings. I always used the clear+ soundfield on prior Sony soundbars, on this one there is no bass. If Sony fixed these two issues this would be a perfect sound bar. Please Sony send a software update to bring in more subwoofer.

After reviewing this item, i had went into a local store to check it out. I was lucky enough to find it in-store as an open item. Has all cables, controller, and accessories with it. I was truly amazed by the sound quality of the bar, but lacks a bit of bass. Nothing a second sub-woofer cant fix. Don't expect booming bass from this model, but from someone who never had a soundbar system or surround system, this far exceeds my expectations.

Okay, I was very skeptical at first. Sony has several tiers of their sound bar/woofer bundles, and the more advanced bundles are absolutely superb. So where does that leave this one? Well, not too far off the mark! This system has a ton of features! From one-touch NFC to Bluetooth to music over wifi, it's amazing. The sound quality and volume are really good for a system this size. It's like magic. Make sure you check to see what connections your TV set has for audio out. Because my TV only had HDMI in and not an ARC (audio return channel) HDMI out connector, I had to connect my TV's audio signal with an optical cable. But check with your tech expert, because apparently, ARC is not always what it's cracked up to be. If you need a system for a somewhat small room, this bundle is great! It really is quite powerful for its size and with Sony's new Hi-Res Audio, you won't be disappointed.

While buying a Sony 850D TV at BB, this soundbar/subwoofer was hooked up to it, I was impressed by its sound for the price. Nice trebles and tight bass. Easy to hook up. It takes about 15 seconds to get sound after the TV is turned on---just a minor annoyance.

Very good feature set. The on-screen setup guide via HDMI (3 inputs and 1 output) makes this sound bar easy to set up. Way easier than the Bose SoundTouch system. I also added the SRS5 surround/multi-room speakers. You can set this system up as surround or multi-room, again a feature that Bose does not offer with the SoundTouch. The sound quality of the Sony Bar is not as good as the SoundTouch 300 sound bar, but the SRS5's sound better than the Soundtouch 10's. Very good system for the price point. The only negative is the system depend on google cast for multi-rooom. Not all apps (Sirius for example) do not support google cast. Pandora and Spotify work fine.

Great highs and lows .clear dialog ..solid bass . was on sale for $350 and included a $100 best buy gift card awezome deal !! I would of been happy even at regular $500 price tag .

Returned TWO defective LG LAS950M soundbars for this Sony, which sounds better at 1/3 the price! Love it. Big sound from a small soundbar. The sound is acceptable and above average for TV and music, but for DD and DTS movies it's outstanding ! Not a surprise, sound quality is all about source material.

As a novice, I went with the Sony brand because I know it is a trusted, proven, and high quality brand. I had been looking for sound bars because I'm almost 50 now and my hearing ain't what it used to be, plus I love going to movies and having the sound rock you out of your seat. This Sony sound bar delivers!! What a difference it makes. Yeah, I could have opted for the cheaper one, but this one was on sale for almost $200 off at Christmas time. But I'm so glad I got the more expensive one - the sound is amazing! I know there are also more expensive options than this one, but the Sony 2.1 provides great sound at a decent price. I will admit I had problems hooking it up (again, I'm a novice), but I just went online and found out the best way to do it. Didn't take long at all. I'm very pleased with this purchase and would recommend it to others.

I purchased it few weeks back. I set it up with my Sony Bravia myself by reading instructions from the manual. It was pain to figure out. I still haven't been able to use the inbuilt chromecast function properly. It would cast from apps like Youtube, Netflix butonly the sound, No video! I don't know may be it can only cast music i suppose. I still need to figure it out.One issue i have with it is that I would want it to be turned on with TV which i haven't been able to do. Everytime I turn on the TV, i have to turn on the soundbar seperately. Like i said, i am still trying to figure out few things. But the sound is really great!! I love watching GoT on my TV now with really great sound from the soundbar.

Only reason I purchased this was because it was on sale for $200. At $200 dollars this is the most amazing soundbar on the market. At full MSRP... probably not... I love that it has ARC functionality. The soundbar plays nice clean mids and highs without being too bright. The subwoofer plays veeery low and sounds amazing when watching Dolby movies.

It has great sound and gives a nice theater like feeling with your Sony Bravia TV 4K Ultra high-def. The only thing I'm not happy about is the other sound bar I had from Sony had a separate bass and treble and adjustable subwoofer for extra Bass and was 110 Watts and this one is 330 Watts with a more digital sound to it it has all the other options my other one had accept the separate bass and treble besides that it's a great Buy. And after I get maybe a few bugs worked out on it I probably will like it more than I did my other one. I just need a little bit more time with it thank you I hope this does help. If it had the extra separate bass and treble on it I would give it 5 stars

I purchased a sound bar to pair with a Sony Ultra HD TV. The feedback from the sales people I talked to was that Sony and Bose provided the best available sound. I was shopping for a system to pair with a basement TV to enhance sports and movie watching, not an in home stereo experience. I listened to a few demos in store and determined I couldn't hear enough of a difference with higher end (and significantly more expensive models) to justify anything more. I've been very happy with the purchase. It's sleek and was easy to connect. The sound enhances family movie night without blasting anyone off the couch. To get 5 star technology, you would spend 4x what this cost.

I've never owned a soundbar before but after talking to the wonderful associates in the Home Theater department I chose the Sony CT790 Soundbar. Set up was quick and easy, just 2-3 steps and I was absolutely taken aback by how much clearer the voices came through, even though it was only 2 channels! The drivers in the speakers are much larger than other sound bar because of the slanted design which I think is why it sound so amazing. The bass is like a punch to the gut in a good way. Very tight and clean. The sound is very warm and natural, with a lot of detail and texture compared to the TV Speakers. It also supports Sony's Songpal Tech so you can add any Sony speakers with WiFi capability as rears, pretty cool! My TV doesn't have an ARC HDMI port so I use a nice Audioquest Forest optical cable (it makes a big difference, trust me), but I have no doubt a high quality HDMI cable would sound better.

I bought this refurbished and it was worth it for the almost 30% for being like new, only the packaging was slightly damaged. If I had seen it in the store I would've still bought it in it's condition. Very easy setup & lots of options especially if you are going the 4K route which I am doing. It syncs well with my LG set. I had a Sony 5.1 HTIB set up for the last 4 years in my room-to be honest it doesn't sound as 'full' because of the separate speakers/sub but for a medium sized bedroom like mine (about 12x10 it sounds fine.

I did lots of reading before I purchased the sound bar. A lot of the reviews were good but I am always amazed that people want to criticize so highly something that was never intended to be a professional product. I have used many professional sound systems and consider the Sony sound bar a great basic set up for very good quality audio options for watching television. I read lots of complaints that you couldn't get into the system to control nuances of the sound basically I agree but realistically when you were flipping TV channels because of the different audio levels/compression levels it doesn't really matter to be honest.

I compared with a less expensive model also from Sony, and when they played this model on, I could tell the difference Immediately . It is well worth the price, specially if you get it on sale . I use it with a Sony xbr65x 850d tv. I am very happy with the combo.

I reviewed several sound bars but ultimately got this one on the recommendation of a very helpful best buy associate who turned me on to this sony sound bar because he had one and loved it. I love it too! Easy set up, amazing sound quality, and all seamlessly integrated into my home audio system. Great buy!!
