We'd been using a stereo system from the early 1990s to create stereo sound from the TV/DVD system. It worked great until the speakers began having issues (crackling, buzz and then, finally, total failure of one of them). Replacing a speaker seemed antiquated (in this techy age), so we opted for a soundbar. Our Best Buy did not have all of them hooked up properly, so we ended up in a nearby town that did. This let us compare sound quality easily (rather than waiting for our local store associates to connect their cellphones, a lengthy process that ruined comparisons). The Samsung soundbar offered the best quality for the price. (And yes, we considered the Bose system, which proved too pricey for our allotted budget.) The included subwoofer is great. With some help from Sony, I was able to get the TV and soundbar working together, and now the TV, soundbar AND the cable only need ONE remote! Beauty. (Note: If the instructions had been clearer, I would not have needed a call to Sony tech.) We LOVE THIS SYSTEM!

Very happy with this sound system! Bought this one for the bedroom and the next better system for the living room. I pared this system with a Sanjo tv, easy to set-up and really enjoy the sound that we now receive. We cannot tell the difference between the better one in the living room and this one.

We have never been disappointed with Sony tvs or sound systems, this one included. Great value.

It was easy to set up. Took some playing with it to find the right sound. But for a small system it has a pretty good sound, I am happy with the purchase.

I bought this system as an opened box deal and it was reduced then reduced again. It was originally $500 and I paid $160. Boy did I get a bargain. Talk about amazing sound and what a powerful system. If I had heard the sound before hand I most likely would have paid full price for it.

Decided to purchase because of recent purchase of 5 4K Sony televisions. Needed sound closer to my ear without really turning up the volume and Sony sound bar was the perfect purchase for me. Subwoofer next to bed, sounds as if I'm sitting inside a movie theatre, LOVE IT!!. I'm sold on SONY.

I was in the market for a mid-range soundbar. I tried different ones but this one did it for us in our apartment. I am using the HDMI cable that came with the sound bar and an optical cable I had laying around. I updated the software easily on both the sound bar and on my older Sony TV to improve the chances on compatibility. I have had no issues and I'm really happy with the purchase. In case this is helpful for others: Both the HDMI and the optical cable are hooked from the TV to the Sound Bar. This allows me to play basically anything I need, movies/music from the ChromeCast, TV and movies from the cable box, music from my phone via Bluetooth and even from the built in casting feature the sound bar has. However, be aware the casting doesn't mean it comes with a built-in ChromeCast, the feature allows you to only stream sound but No videos, if you are looking for that functionality you need to hook up an actual ChromeCast or similar device. The only Con I have so far is the subwoofer didn't work when streaming music via Bluetooth from a Mac.

This is my second Sony soundbar, I previously purchased a HT-CT780, which provided great sound for my 70" Sony Bravia XBR70X850B, 4K UHD TV. However, when Sony came out with this HT-CT790, it allowed me to add Sony's wireless SRS-ZR5 surround speakers, and be able to use the "Wireless Multi-Room" features of SongPal. This soundbar, coupled with the wireless speakers has been a nice complement to fill the room with a capable and good surround system. Synced well with the TV, and provides plenty of multi-function control of added components like BluRay, Apple TV, and the afore mentioned wireless surround speakers. Been operating the system for a month now and pleased. Subwoofer provides very good bass. Only observation is that to fill the room with sound, for a 22' x 13' room, I have to turn up the volume to near half capacity, just an observation. BTW, the old 780 is getting used with another TV and is still a great soundbar.

I love my sound-bar with side speakers, but sometimes I have to manually reset it due to no sound coming out of it. I haven't checked for an update in awhile, so I will check that out to maker sure everything is up to date

Good sound easy setup with a Sony TV. Regular price for this item seemed high but hit a great sale which made it well worth the money.

I bought the Sony 2.1 channel soundbar with a new LG tv purchase. The set-up was fairly straight forward, but the included instructions weren't the best. The subwoofer produces a good base and there is a separate volume control for the subwoofer. I might recommend going above a 2.1 however, because while watching some programs, I was maxed out on the soundbar volume and still wanting a little more. If I figure out how to incorporate the tv internal speakers that may help, but it isn;t intuitive.

It was time to upgrade form built in TV Speakers and the Sony soundbar fit the bill well. T his Sony soundbar features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities for high-quality music and analog sound streaming. That means you can tap into your TV speakers to stream music from your iPhone. The soundbar has 330W output, 2.1 amplifier channels and Dolby Digital. The sound quality is a definite improvement, but certainly not as good as a full surround system.. But for the buck....it's the way to go.

The thinness of the current TV's require a system like this. IMHO. This is better than the older thicker TV's speakers and way better than the current TV's internal ones. While the prices of TV's have stayed pretty much the same this being a requirement adds to that cost. Overall very happy with the sound. It is not a high end audio speaker system and will not replace an audio receiver and quality speakers for music and theater listening. Very nice for everyday TV watching though.

Movie mode is the best. Music mode is very good. The others are good but not great. This Soundbar has two channels. I have a 7.1 Sony Soundbar that is so outstanding that by comparison this one is just good except when in Movie mode. But this one is half the price of the 7 channel Soundbar, so I cannot complain. I did not install it. I had the Geek Squad install it at the same time they installed my new 4K TV. But the installations were fast and problem free. I think this is a good buy.

Pros - works well with Sony TVs. Sound quality is very good if you are looking for an upgrade from the Sony TV speakers. Phone App is easy to use to control the volume and switch from TV inputs to streaming media. Cons - user interface is not very plug and play friendly. Can be frustrating if you need to switch back from using a different input. Bar itself is not compact, so make sure you have enough space wherever you plan to install it.

The quality of the sound bar is great. I've had it for a few months and I like the enhanced sound. I bought this because I also have a Sony tv, so I thought connecting it would be easy. However, sometimes it randomly will be on and connected from the tv, but no sound comes out. I still haven't been able to figure out why this happens. It takes several times of turning on and off both the sound bar and tv to get it to work properly again.

The soundbar is excellent for my needs. Has great quality sound and has 3 hdmi inputs, which was exactly what I was looking for. Four stars only because I had a hard time making the purchase due to website issues and it was missing the wall mount and cables but I was able to get them through Sony for free. I saw this same sound bar for $99.99 as an open box item at my local best buy. Overall it's a good product.

It was easy to setup and works like a charm. We are enjoying the great sounds it provides.
