Great picture But!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent picture, Easy to operate, Above average sound, Easy setup, Voice recognition works great. But! TV has a software glitch every two weeks or so, TV must be rebooted. Problem is adjusting the volume up or down will cause picture to freeze momentarily. Unplugging TV or use of power button on the remote will reset TV. I have contacted Sony they said they are working on it ? On a personal note I would like to see larger buttons on remote some what difficult if you have arthritis to operate. One final note! Smart TV = computer = Software problems. At this time I would recommend this TV with reservation. I have owned this TV for one month.

4K Gaming at its Finest
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a four year old 1080p Samsung television, I wanted a 4K TV that would last me for a while, as I normally only purchase a TV once every four-five years. I did a lot of research online and decided the Sony 49" 900E was going to be the one. You will be blown away by the deep blacks and vibrant colors once you've set this baby up. I've tested the 900E with The Xbox One S and the PlayStation 4 Pro and I'm very pleased with the low input lag and the beautiful picture. Having also watched a 4K Blu Ray on the Xbox One S, I can never go back to watching Blu Rays in 1080p resolution. 4K and HDR has really spoiled me. Two tips for those of you that plan on picking up this TV: 1) After your initial set up, click HOME on your remote and scroll down to SETTINGS. Make sure the OUTPUTS are set to ENHANCED. ENHANCED enables 4K on your HDMI inputs. 2) Purchase a couple of HDMI cables that are 2.0 (18gps). Our old HDMI cables from the 1080p days will not output at 4K. In closing, The Sony 900E not only satisfies my 4K gaming and movie watching needs, it takes them far beyond satisfactory to a whole new level.

Great all around TV!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So let me preface this review with stating that for what this TV costs, you will be hard pressed doing any better in this price range. Is this TV as good as my LG C6P OLED? No, and nor should it be at half the cost. But for what we needed in our bedroom this TV hits all the marks. *Color is a 5/5 - colors just pop and look great on this set without being oversaturated and cartoonish looking. Just great is all I can say. * Motion is a 5/5 - the biggest selling point for me with this TV was it's the only 49" panel with a native 120hz refresh rate. That means no blurring or annoying judder with movies. I have mine set to custom with smoothness at 2 and clearness at 1 and it looks very clear with minimal to no soap opera effect! * Black levels is 4-4.5/5 - Now keep in mind I've been spoiled by the perfect blacks in our living room Oled so my expectations for black levels are high. But for an Lcd, this TV does a great job with contrast and nice deep blacks. The Vizio M series did have deeper blacks to my eyes, but the Vizio also only has a 60h panel and the blurring was definitely enough for me to justify stepping up in price to the Sony X900E. Not a huge difference by any means, but Vizio has the black levels on their sets perfected in my opinion. My only complaint I have really with this Sony is the black bars in movies tend to fluctuate in level of darkness as scenes change from dark to bright. Again this is minimal and the other positives with the set far outweigh this minor complaint. *Smart TV System and app selection is a 5/5 - those complaining about it being slow may have a point, but for me it's fast enough and more then adequate for my habits searching YouTube, netflix, etc... The app selection is also better then my LG. *Upscaling is 5/5 - this TV makes everything look good. Cable channels look better on this TV then my LG. It just makes bad sources look better. Just don't expect it to make bad sources perfect. Overall I highly recommend this TV as it just performs in all areas. Had the Vizio M series been a 120hz panel, I may have kept that one. But for me the perfect motion, great colors, and almost as good black levels were enough for me to justify the bump up in price. Go for it!

Beautiful tv
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this tv to replace an older 47 inch Toshiba I used for video games, movies, Netflix etc... The game setting is about perfect picture wise. Every tv needs it's settings adjusted once you get them home, because most stores have a "display" setting in a well lighted store. If you get it home, just look up the model number of the tv for different settings on YouTube, it's not that hard and well worth it. The price is the best you will get unless you dish out another 2k more for OLED. Love this tv, and it's my first Sony. Very happy

Superior TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I originally bought the competitor, rhymes with BamBung. Returned that really quick and bought this TV. The picture quality is wonderful. Bright and clear. Sound is okay. Would benefit having a sound bar. The only thing the competitor had over this tv was a better menu and remote. the OS on this tv is a little weak and slow. and the remote seems like it has a feel of an old remote. the thing that matters the most, the picture quality, is top notch.

Incredible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had purchased a less expensive 4K HDR TV but wasn’t really impressed. Did some research, checked this one out in the store, and all the hype about it was real. Once home I couldn’t believe the difference. Hands down the best TV under 55”. Incredible clarity, the blacks are so black, the colors so bright. I wanted that “Wow” factor and this one delivers every time I turn it on. Extremely pleased.

Plasma-like...almost, 49" Sony 900e TV
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review....so I' m just coming out of a 2005 Phillips Plasma TV with its own quirks...but it lasted this long and the picture was really good....well plasma, what can you say, great blacks, no motion blur. Even at just 720p the picture gave you great detail in the shadows which is my major complaint of the Sony 900 series. No detail in the dark areas. When adjusting the picture and making the shadowed areas show what is going on in there, the background is way to bright...hurts the eyes bright. But the Sony is probably one of the best choices right now. Waiting for OLED's to build a TV around 50" and affordable.

Great Picture quality but average user interface
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this TV a month ago from Best Buy so far i am very satisfied with the purchase. I had Samsung MU8000 and Sony XBR900E in my mind but decided to go with Sony when i compared the picture quality with Samsung MU8000 at the store. It looks little costly but its worth the money. The contrast, color balance is great, only reason i gave 4 star review is because of the user interface of remote control and the Android OS in the TV is always not responding well for iphone and the remote is bulky when compared with other TV brands, may be it works better when controlled through an Android phone.

Really Like It for Gaming
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have the 49" version. I use it mainly for gaming and it looks great with all content I have thrown at it.. I sit only 3 to 6 feet away and also use this as a PC monitor (usually at 1440p sometimes at 4K). I also set it to run PC games at 120HZ 1080p. I love that it is versatile enough to cover all these options. PS4 Pro and Xbox One X enhanced games look incredible (especially Halo 5 and Forza 7, Gran Turismo Sport). I have not noticed any input lag playing online in games like BF1 and Battlefront 2 or offline story based games. The built in Youtube app is fine -- there are plenty of stunning 4K show off videos on YT. HDR does make a difference but it really is content based. I have not encountered any issues with the built in OS but I also don't use it's smart apps much at all. Overall I am very happy with the TV.

Sony delivers excellent picture
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Sony xbr900e has excellent picture quality. The depth perception is exceptional because of the high quality picture. Very easy to set up and use. The only drawback is the sound. I added the Sonos sound base to compensate for the ordinary sound components from Sony. Paired with Sonos the TV is awesome.

Great TV So Far
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally bit the bullet and replaced my 34" 205 lb. Sony HD tube TV. After doing a bit of research and checking out TVs at Best Buy, I settled on the 49" Sony 900E. Regular TV is good, sports are great, and streaming 4K movies are crazy-detailed. Sound is weak-ish, but with a Vizio soundbar with subwoofer, the sound is phenomenal too (will never go back to regular TV sound again). Even with the soundbar, oftentimes the audio does not match up with the video (lips move before or after the words are spoken). Not sure what the issue is with the sound not matching - might be our cable provider and I just never noticed it as much before we got this bigger and better TV. The sound matches perfectly when streaming movies, however. I did a little bit of fine tuning of the picture following a popular TV ratings website's video. Like most LED TVs apparently, the picture is best when sitting directly in front of it. When sitting at an angle, the blacks begin to appear more grayish. Very happy with this TV overall.

Really amazing tv and computer monitor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this tv for christmas and it has really improved my quality of life. I mounted the 49” tv on my wall at home above my desk and I use it as both a tv and a computer monitor. As a TV it is hands down the best tv iv ever had. Really good colors and the Picture quality is great even when the content is not in 4k. I had a little trouble getting it configured right for my computer monitor. Using it as a monitor is life changing as a computer programmer. I really enjoy the amount of space for productivity and the input lag is practically unnoticable. To use the tv as a conputer monitor i had to alter the settings which dulled the picture quality. I think OLEDs Wouldnt sacrafice as much picture quality. But its still really good for a tv with low input lag and 4:4:4 hdr. Im still very happy with the purchase. I sometimes get annoyed by the “smart” features and apps that come included and the initial setup took a long time so im giving this tv a 4/5. I hope it lasts a long time.

Excellent LED 4K
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Superb picture, blackness, and overall picture. This 4K HDR Sony is probably the best television for the price point. My only gripe would be the sound, it is a bit subpar, but not a reason to choose another manufacturer. Overall excellent performance!

My 2nd review
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've increased my star by one after having this unit for another month. I went out and tried TCL's 55 P05 for week as I pondered taking this set back and saving a couple of hundreds. I thought the TCL P05 looked better during dark scenes with less blooming, and halos around bright objects. However the P05 lacked 120hz I couldn't enforce via Nvidia control panel, something that is supported on the 900E. 2nd, the Sony set handled colors better than TCL which really stood out during the day. Last, my remote didn't work, I had to program my Harmony remote within the first hour owning the P05. While yes I liked the TCL and it would have saved me a couple of hundreds, the Sony is overall slightly better and you get what you paid for.

Excellent TV/Better Customer Service
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is just what it says. I have to admit I have been on quite the hunt for the best TV I could find with my budget and I found it with this Sony X900e....I first got the Samsung mu7000 and although that what a good tv I wanted something more bright so I took it back and bought the Samsung Mu8000 but I never tried that one because when I got it all put together the TV wouldn’t fit on my stand because I have a corner stand and the legs on the Samsung are on the edges so I ended up taking that back and I bought the Sony E900 and I got it home and wouldn’t you know it wouldn’t power on. So I took that one back and got an exchange and the Best Buy store even assembled it for me in the store so I could make sure it would work and I have been blown away by the picture and quality of this TV and I am amazed at how Best Buy went out of their way to make sure I was happy with the perfect TV. I have to say the Best Buy in Coon Rapids MN store is among the best I have ever been to.

Amazing picture quality.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this 49" Sony 900E for my wife. After doing a lot of research as I intend to purchase a 75" for our down stairs theater I was surprised to see Sony offered the same Full Array Local Dimming technology in this smaller size. We have a 70" Elite which is one of the best FALD 1080P TV's ever made and wanted something comparable. This new Sony is amazing. The blacks are stunning and the uniformity of the TV is perfect. I actually had been discussing my research with a friend who was looking to upgrade to a larger set and he purchased the 65" version yesterday. This technology isn't the lowest cost but it is worth every penny. If Dolby Vision HDR is important to you this 900E may not receive the upgrade so you might have to research the 930E (Edgelit) or the 940E (FALD). If that is not important then this is one great TV and Best Buy did a great job of delivering and setting it up. Could not be happier. I will be buying the 75" shortly. Thanks.

Awesome!!!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This TV is just awesome. I had HDTV and I wanted some new 4K TV but couldnt really afford 3000$ OLED. After a long research I figured that this is one of the best choices among LEDs. The picture quality is amazing, it does amazing job upscaling non-4K content. Soap opera effect can be completely off and thats very cool. 4K HRD capable xbox one x games look fantastic. I cant say much about sound cause it was connected to home theater system since day one. The only little issue is the TV OS. It is built on androind so its kinda glitchy. I have it connected to apple tv so it doesnt bother me too much. Overall, its an amazing TV. PS. If you consider buying it, be mindfull of the TV size. 50” isnt big enough for my living room, I should’ve bought 55”.

Sony Excellence For Me
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m certainly not an expert on the subject of the latest advanced technology TV receivers, but as a former cable TV technician I know an outstanding video image when I see one. During my years in the cable business I got to see how well every commercially available TV set performed. The name brand that was consistently better than the rest is Sony. I started purchasing Sony about 30 years ago well before flat screens became standard equipment. For video display they relied on a cathode ray tube (picture tube) and the Sony Trinitron was top of the line. The last old school Sony I purchased actually lasted about 20 years so I had to get up to speed on flat screen technology before making a purchase. Best Buy had several on display and they all had very good picture quality. After careful evaluation I chose one based on the price and overall reputation. I won’t mention the brand but Life wasn’t Good while having to deal with my purchase. From day one the picture brightness was too low when using the default picture settings. I was able to improve the quality by making the necessary adjustments but during the first year, the picture quality steadily declined until no amount of adjustments would help. Time for a new TV and based on my previous buying experience, Best Buy was the obvious choice. I decided to go with a brand that had performed well for me in the past rather than being influenced only by price. The 49” Sony Bravia 49X900E looked great on display and based on my previous experience with the brand and Best Buy, the decision to purchase was easy. This Sony has all of the best features that I could possibly want. It will handle current and future 4K video and does so with High Dynamic Resolution (HDR) and Ultra High Definition. The included remote control is well designed and easy to use and the TV has enough inputs and outputs to handle all of my home entertainment needs. But the most important feature to me is the outstanding video quality. The factory default settings were real close but after a few minor tweaks it has the most impressive picture quality that I’ve ever seen. I’ve had my Sony Bravia for about a year now and I haven’t had to readjust anything. Even the sound quality, depending upon the source is surprisingly good. But excellent video quality deserves equally great sound so now I’m looking at the Sony 2.1 sound bar components. I’m sure I won’t be disappointed and I’m glad to be back to Sony quality again.
