Great TV, just not quite Perfect

I purchased this TV after many months of research. For the most part, I absolutely love it! It's bright, colorful, excellent motion handling and extremely sharp. The only issues I have is Android TV can be a little slow and buggy sometimes, and the viewing angles are not that great off center. Other than those two things, this TV is well worth it. It would actually get 4.5 stars if I could rate it that.

This is exactly what I wanted: superior picture quality, easy operation, integrates with all my other media technology. Too cool!!! Love the picture. Also, I had an excellent Geek Squad install team. Kudos! Absolutely NOT disappointed this time!

The Sony 900e series seems to outperform itself. The black is so even across the screen; no hint of edge brightness at all. The picture is beautiful and clean.

Beautiful rich color and great clarity even with 1080i sources. 4K is better still, but you don't really need it with the ability to up-res the image. The sound is even remarkably good without adding a soundbar or sound system.

We own 5 LED TVs from various manufacturers, and this Sony 900E is the absolute best of the lot. Unmatched picture clarity, sharpness, with vivid colors. Many glowing reviews have been written praising this TV, check them out, they're all true. Best TV I've ever purchased. Glad I paid the extra money for the 900E series over the 800E for its picture upscale feature. All HD inputs; Cable, Roku, Blu Ray, games, look like 4K. The set purchased in June developed a problem after 5 months of use. Contacted the BB Geek Squad, they evaluated and replaced the set in 2 days. They would have allowed me to apply my original purchase price toward any other TV they carry. Told them "no thanks! I'll stick with my Sony 900E" it's that good! Very glad I purchased Best Buy's extended warranty.

We purchased this 49" 4KTV back in July of 2017 and absolutely loved it! Unfortunately, due to a fall off a ladder, I knocked the TV off of the table and the LCD was shattered. Heartbroken, we immediately went back to Best Buy and bought the same TV, as we LOVE it!!! Luckily, the TV was on sale for $250 less than we originally paid. This TV replaced a 37" Sony TV in our small living room. The outside frame is very thin and has a very minimalist matt black metal finish which doesn't distract from the picture and doesn't reflect light like some of the very shiny frames on some TV's. It almost looks like it has no frame. The picture fills the whole screen, which gives us more viewing area than a larger TV with a larger frame. The color is beautiful, natural looking, and very detailed. Even in 1080P the detail is wonderful, but the 4K programs are amazing! The TV is very thin, which I love. I would recommend mounting it on a wall or securing the TV to a table if it will be in a high traffic area, to avoid having it fall on a child. As long as the table is up against a wall, it probably would not be a problem, but our TV sits at a diagonal on a small table in a passthrough between the living room and dining room, which gets a lot of traffic. The support could be a little stronger. As far as the sound, it is okay for our small living room. We do have entertainment speakers hooked to our blue ray player, but a sound bar would give it fabulous sound for a larger room. We checked Best Buy's user ratings and they were good, but the first time we purchased the TV, there weren't that many ratings, because the TV was brand new in 2017. We checked out "rtings.com" prior to buying this TV and they do major testing of TV's. I trust their ratings and they rated this TV very highly, as the BEST of the 4KTV's in the range from 40-50" in 2017!!! You will not be disappointed with this TV. It is wonderful.

I purchased this television based on reviews I read at rtings.com. This was the recommended 4K model with local dimming and good HDR features at a mid-level price. The picture is amazing. The TV is thicker than Samsung models with similar picture quality and lower price. Would probably purchase the Samsung based on price and dimensions.

Great television - excellent picture, easy to use. It would be better if it didn’t try to force the Google ecosystem on you at set up, along with Samba TV, but obviously your mileage may vary on that.

I got this to wall mount over the desk in my home office to use both as display for my Shield TV and as a computer monitor. It works GREAT for both. The blacks are are good as the reviews say and the color is very good. I've played some PC games on it and the latency isn't anything that I'm noticing so it seems to be good in that department. The only thing I wish was different is that the panel surface is a bit reflective so the ceiling fixture reflects off of it. Not terrible, though. I've seen others complain about the ATV being slow on it but it seems fine, although I only use it for changing settings since my Nvidia box is a far superior Android TV device.

This may be the best 49 inch television on the market. That size was as big as could fit in the room. Very versatile controls. Easier to operate than it looked at first. The Bravia Sync with Sony UHD HDR Blu-Ray player is convenient. Nice picture. No burn-in worries. Interestingly, it is not connected to the Internet at all. It's used with rabbit ears here in DFW, plus with the DVD player. Had it a few weeks. Note for antenna users the display banner pops up if the signal drops out (although there is an option to disable that) so use with a good antenna.

This Sony has intense rich blacks. Nice sound. I will only buy Sony TVs. Still have a 16 yr old Sony. Magnificent still. Had a Samsung that lasted 5 years and died. Replaced with Sony.

    - Excellent, realistic and not oversaturated colors much akin to Samsung - INCREDIBLE contrast; best I've had or seen on a TV to-date - 4K HDR X1 processor allows non-HDR content to be HDR processed - Very easy to use interface/menu - Simple remote; only drawbacks are buttons are nearly flat & backlighting - 120Hz VA panel w/178* viewing angle; great motion-flow w/so-so viewing angle, but does not suffer from "IPS (object) blooming" like the XBR49X830C does. Great TV for cable, DVD/BR/UHD and streaming sources.

My favorite TV I’ve purchased in the 50 inch size. HDR is awesome! After calibration this TV shines! Fantastic to play games with. The con is Android TV. There is SO MANY BUGS AND LAGGYNESS! The processor just isn’t good enough for Android OS. It’s actually terrible.
