This tv is a very good tv but I have found a few things that kind of annoy me. When powering this tv on it defaults to the Sony main menu and tries to get you to rent movies etc from them. It doesn’t just turn on your content/satalite/cable,streaming device. The price is also substantially more than let’s say the Samsung 8000 series and the sales people really pushed that this tv is far superior. After having the tv I don’t feel that you can really tell he difference in a 49”. Anything 55” or larger and you probably can tell, but I really don’t think I’m the 49” it was worth the extra money.

Amazing tv... I play a lot of video games and my ps4 looks like I've never seen it before. The addition of HDR to My PS4 (not Pro) is incredible. My previous 4k tv was a samsung and just never looked right to me and eventually failed and I replaced it with this Sony. I guess the only gripe I would have is that the sensor for the remote is very low and in the center of the tv and my sound bar blocks the signal quite often. Other than that I'm amazed by this tv.

I bought this tv to replace my Samsung plasma tv. Even though it does not come close to plasma detail, it is still an overall great picture with 4K. I did return it for a bigger 55 inch screen though because I couldn’t get used to the smaller screen size because the plasma was a 51 inch. Would DEFINITELY recommend to anyone looking for a great tv that’s not too big.

This TV meets and exceeds all my expectations. Local dimming on this TV works very well. I am using a Sony 4k blu ray player for content. Make sure to enable the advanced HDMI format for full 4K support. Image Quality: When movies would typically display bars at the top and bottom for anamorphic widescreen, the bars are black unless you are in a pitch black room. Bights are excellent. Make sure to enable both local dimming and the white enhancement counterpart, I think they are disabled in some presets. I was debating between this and a 930 and chose this based on price and the fact that I didn't have / expect must current content with Dolby Vision. Sound: There is some sound synch problems when streaming with the built in apps, but this can be remedied by setting the Digital Audio out to PCM. I am using an external sound system and the sound is great. The headphone jack can be set to a fixed line level audio out as well, which is a nice option.

I was debating purchasing a curve or 4K TV. The Best Buy rep was very helpful and answered all my questions. I took my time and viewed many models. I am very surprise, and pleased with the picture quality. Sony TV is the best choice. It did take sometime to program the apps. There should be more apps. Yes, I would purchase another Sony.

TV technology continues to change. My older Samsung HD 4K TV lacked HDR. Reviews and research may lead you to consider taking a step up from this TV to purchase an OLED, but my space limitations required a max width of 43 1/2 inches and the XBR900e is 43 1/8" wide with a 49' screen. I suggest researching google and youtube after purchase for optimal picture calibration as this TV can be fine tuned beyond any previous set I've owned. All televised subject matter (movies, sports, etc.) are noticeably superior to my non-HDR TV's. Some downgrade their overall rating based on the built in sound of the TV. As far as I know, there isn't a TV around that can produce the audio quality obtained with an AV set up so my rating is based on picture quality only.

My first 4K TV and I absolutely love it. UI is very user friendly and the picture is amazing, especially when watching any UHD content or 4K HDR gaming, just absolutely gorgeous. Now for some bad news, the screen can be a bit reflective in a bright room- so don't plan on putting this in a room that gets a lot of natural light. Also, the speakers are terrible. I'm not exaggerating when I say that. If you just plan on watching cable/sat on this TV then the speakers are fine for that. If you plan on gaming or watching any UHD content, it is a MUST to buy a soundbar. Overall a great TV, I highly recommend for its price. Also is an Android TV so for those out there that use Kodi, you can download that app directly to this TV. Cheers.

We upgraded from a 1080p 40" screen to this 49" Sony and it's a world of difference! We still don't have many (if any) 4k feeds or HDR content, but even so, the details are tremendous - perhaps even too much so for some of the more crusty actors (you may not want o see that much detail in their faces! LOL. Seriously, thin elegant and pristine. BTW: I looked at the latest Samsung and saw a 50% price premium compared to this Sony, but the Best Buy salesperson said that Samsung and others version of HDR is built using only edge lighting, and the reason the Sony picture is so much better (and costs) more is that the Sony HDR runs behind the entire screen! I opted to pay the premium so that this set lasts a good long time!

This is BY FAR the most advanced television its size short of an OLED. Hooking it up to a 4K Blu-Ray player? You're good. Trying to get OTA signals from an antenna? It will look awful...UNTIL you tweak the settings to your liking. After which it will look as good as anything you've ever seen. Unless you already own a set with Quantum Dot (Samsung) or Triluminous (Sony). Then it will only look AS good as anything you've seen.

My plasma blew out on me, and it was a top of the line plasma with real good blacks. I went to BestBuy and was looking at the new Samsung Qled tv. The salesman took me into a room where they had several tv's and he put it on a Game of Thrones episode. When looking at the Samsung the Sony caught my eye with its stellar dynamic range, dark blacks, and super brightness. Another thing I like about this TV is that it makes ALL the shows look almost 3D-ish, as it if it upscales the program to bluray quality, its awesome! This Sony was $100 cheaper than the Qled, and boy is the picture better. One of the things the salesman was telling me is that the Samsung uses edgelit lighting where the Sony lights the picture for the entire panel which is why the Sony looks so much better. If you want the best brightest picture go for the Sony, you won't regret it. Sometimes at night or early in the morning the picture looks almost too bright, but I love it.

Rtings.com rated this TV (x900e) as the best 49 inch screen size for 2017 Yes, it’s a little bit pricey compared to other 49 inch 4K HDR TVs but the picture quality and build far exceeds the other tvs in this class. Picture quality is fantastic and very little input lag if you’re a video gamer. This tv also does picture in picture!!! Has lots of apps and you can use a usb drive to play your music or movies. It’s a very versatile tv. Again, go to rtings.com and use their settings for this tv (or any others they’ve reviewed for the last 2 years). No buyers remorse with this TV and with the 24 month 0% financing, comes out to $40/month. If you’re in the market for a TV in early 2018, get this TV while it’s still available at Black Friday pricing ($899) before it is gone because the 2018 version of this tv (X900F) is the same TV with no changes but a higher price tag.

It’s a good LCD tv, but...

First things first, I have to return the tv due to a defective IR blaster input. As far as the tv itself, the brightness is superb, and the colors are solid. 4K HDR content looks very good BUT, when it comes to dark backgrounds this is where you know you’re looking at an LCD display. Even with proper calibration, dark backgrounds are not uniform in the least, and quite “blotchy”. I am spoiled, as I have a 65 inch LG OLED in my living room, so no LCD will ever compare. That said, given the price of the Sony (even though I purchased it on sale) was just shy of $1,000.00 including tax, and for me it’s too much of an investment knowing for $400.00 more, I could purchase a 55 inch OLED that would give me perfect blacks along with quality colors and HDR. Unfortunately 49” to 50” is as big as I can comfortably go in my bedroom. Bottom line, it’s a very good picture, but not for the price.

I recently purchased this TV to make the jump to 4K. I upgraded from an old Samsung Plasma, and had my doubts about the color level and input lag on this TV. This TV is absolutely stunning! The color levels blow my old Plasma out of the water! I have not yet tried any HDR options, as the main picture is so amazing, I haven't felt the need to try them out. The sound on this TV is pretty impressive, I actually thought my sound bar was on, but I had realized it was the TV speakers, which was a nice surprise, because TV speakers usually aren't any good. This TV also has a TON of smart features and an easily navigatable menu/set-up. I have been using this TV for roughly a month or so, and have not discovered one flaw or con yet. I would highly recommend this TV looking for anyone who wants to make an upgrade or the jump to 4K.
