great picture and color. small amt of light bleed at bottom on dark scenes. But is minimal presently as long as doesn't get worse as some people describe. Had considered Samsung but they also had light bleed along sides. Instruction manual is a waste.

Don't believe everything you read about this TV. I bought this TV last week under a recommendation from a Best Buy employee. I had my doubts after reading the reviews but figured I would give it a shot. I was not disappointed at all! This TV is a steal at the price point it's at. I hardly found any light bleeding on this TV. The only time you see any light coming through the edges is in really dark scenes and it's very very minimal. I have always been a fan of Samsung but after buying this TV I am now a huge fan of Sony TV's. I don't regret this purchase at all. For what you get out of the TV for under $1,000 it's a huge huge deal. I highly recommend it

This tv is all about looks but not about the picture or functionality. The picture is pretty good and so is the motion control. It's probably the thinnest tv out there but there is no point to this since all of the electronics in the bottom half of the tv make this part as thick as most other tvs out there. There are 2 main things that I notice that really bother me. The backlighting can really be seen around the edges when the screen is dark. It looks like there are several small flashlights shining onto the edge of the screen. The other thing that really annoys me is that you cannot turn off the tv speakers. I run my system through a receiver and external speakers so I never need the tv speakers. This set tries to be smart and decide which speakers to use. I am constantly having to go into the action menu to change the setting to external speakers. I only purchased this TV because it was recommended to me and was a good deal as it was an open box buy.

I bought this TV about a month ago. It has a lot of smart features such as playing Netflix, YouTube, PBS, Android apps. It also has smart mirror function which allow user to mirror project from android phone on the TV. So many people can watch the pictures in your phone on a big nice screen. This TV show more real life picture than other brands. Some brand may be too bright or too colorful or too cartoonish for human eye. This one is just right. I noticed that about this Sony TV, it give good bright colorful picture that are close to reality. There may be a much better expensive TV out in the store, but for $1100 this is a pretty good looking brand name TV I think any body can get in the market. Note: This is the thinnest TV in the current market. So be a little mindful when you are setting up or moving the TV and you will be okay.

This Sony TV fit perfectly in the space I had allotted. Great picture quality, great smart set features and easy operation. Extremely thin design. 4K picture is outstanding - especially on streaming media. Got a fantastic price at Best Buy!!

It's an excellent TV. I loved the picture quality, absolutely no issues with pictures but I noticed screen burn/ light bleeding from top left and bottom panel. I called up Sony as well but that didn't help. Sony representatives were behaving as if they have never heard such issue. Ultimately I decided to return the TV. It's very difficult to find TV with such picture quality. While buying TV I was not aware of the light bleed issue with 900C models. Poor rating of this product is also reflection on Sony's poor customer service, I expected Sony to acknowledge the issue and work towards resolution.

TV has an awesome picture and is unbelievably thin. I love the fact that it's a Google TV with all their apps available . I also like that I can reuse the 3-D glasses from movie theaters to watch 3-D movies.

Easy to set up, I didn't need to make any picture adjustments. The extra apps are useful. Remote control is great, it even has voice recognition. Great picture. I have not heard the built in speakers yet because the TV is connected to my new sound bar.

Amazing 4K TV for an Amazing Price

I had originally decided on the LG 55UH6150 (See that review for details, this will not be a comparison) but decided to trade it in for the Sony XBR55X900C. First, I have to comment on how ridiculously thin this TV is. The side profile picture on BestBuy's website really does do it justice. Second, Android TV is a wonderful OS for a smart TV and Sony made a wise choice to implement it into their TVs. With Android TV you are able to use any of the apps that are built right in, like Netflix and Amazon, or download many more from the Google Play Store. Also, you have the ability to cast directly from your phone as Google Cast is built into the TV as well. This provides more functionality than most set top boxes will allow, such as Roku, Amazon's Fire Stick, and Apple TV (which does not support 4K). Now on to the picture. This tv has great viewing angles and does not reflect light as bad as you may think with such a shiny screen. The color reproduction is phenomenal and there is a setting under Color in which you can switch from Adobes RGBs standard to BT.2020 which will produce a wider color gamut that really takes advantage of Sony's Triluminos technology. There are many reviews that note the light bleed from the edge. I can attest that when first unboxed, the light bleed was significant. However, as crazy as it seems, if you take a microfiber cloth and (GENTLY) rub back and forth along the edge of the display, the light bleed is almost imperceptible. After doing the above, the screen does not have any worse of an issue with light bleed than any other edge-lit LED TV. Lets talk about the sound. For such a thin TV, I was expecting tinny and quiet speakers. I was pleasantly proven wrong. The speakers on this TV can get pretty loud and have a good amount of bass. But I do still recommend getting a high quality sound bar or home theater system.

Not sure why i have not upgraded to a 4K TV especially this Sony. Powered by the Android OS I can check the news, traffic, and weather all before i leave the house. Wireless integrated no attachments needed. 4 HDMI ports, even bought the sound bar to go with it (comes with blue tooth sub). Picture is amazing. people might complain about the lighting on the bottom but it does not bother me. Super thin, recommend wall mounting the TV, oh did i mention it comes with it;s own wall mount brackets. "Please Sir, I want some more"

Beautiful design. Horrible light bleed / clouding

Pros: It's one of the best looking TV designs I have ever seen. I have wanted this set since I watched the CES keynote. Colors and picture quality are awesome. I do love the Android TV. It was awesome being able use my Tablo with the native app instead of using my FireTV. Cons: I was assured that the light bleed issue had been addressed. I was hopeful the the set I picked up would look like the model at the store that has a near perfect image even on reboot. I am the owner of 55" 850B and it has clouding / bleed issues. I ran system updates and tried turning the brightness way down to see if I could minimize the light bleed. No dice. I would like to know how the QA dept can let a set ship like this. I don't see light bleed like this even on low end Samsung value tvs. It's safe to say, this tv is heading back to the store and my 850c is up for sale. My 850c is less than 2 years old and Sony didn't even make the Masters app available for it to watch in 4K. It was only available on the "new" tvs. I'm done with Sony for now and planning to pick up an LG OLED when the prices drop.

So I did a lot of research before buying and it ended up getting this in July during their Black Friday in July sales for 899. Definitely a beautifully designed TV, picture is top notch as well as design. I have seen some problems with the backlighting edging out to the corners. What this does, is it makes dark scenes look lighter because the back light is creeping out. Not hugely noticeable, but enough that I took my receipt to the store and opted to get the 5 year protection on it. I've heard that this may or may not get worse, but could do so if you plan on moving the TV multiple times. I think it is just because the TV is so thin. Other from that slight complaint, I love it overall. HDR is fantastic, 3d is great (even though there is no 2D to 3D conversion), I'd say it's an above average 4K TV. Just make sure you do your research before hand.

This is a true 120hz. Samsungs say 120 motion flow which only have 60hz. I have Directv and watched golf in 4K. Awesome. I called Sony customer service several times and they were very knowledgeable and helped me learn the features. I really like the live football feature on all sports. Had it for about a month. No complaints. I'm sure the Kentucky derby will be awesome.

I'll start with Best Buy has been outstanding about working with me to get me satisfied. Great customer service! Ultimately, I went with the LG 55EG9600 because the light bleed on the three Sony XBR-55X900C units they brought to my home had significant light bleed from the bottom. I could not recommend this product to anyone, the bleed is awful. Sony should recall all of this model and start over. It looks great but doesn't perform to the standard that a $2,499 TV buyer has the right to expect.
