I recently purchased a Sony 55 inch 4K tv on sale. I am extremely pleased with the picture quality. The tv synced easily with my existing soundbar and the set up instructions helped ensure a smooth set up in short order. I also was given great service at the store in Gulf Coast Shopping Centre in Fort Myers, Fl. Sports and movies are awesome! Can't wait to watch the Masters!

My DLP Mitsubisi finally passed away (it was part of the family after some 15-20 years) and needed a new TV. Went to Best Buy talked with dude on duty and almost purchased a Samsung. Then I remembered my bedroom TV is an old 720 Sony which also is old never had an issue, still works and seems to be going strong and asked if there was a Sony and boom there was my new TV. Picture is great, and set up a breeze. Need a new sound bar 2.1 setup. Hmm BB for Christmas gift!

This TV is absolutely fantastic. To begin, I've been using a 50" LG plasma for the last 5 years and was absolutely in love with its colors, blacks, motion, and even the input lag was great on my model. When my mainboard went out in that plasma I tried to fix it but since plasma's are no longer being manufactured, neither were the mainboards. I was so totally bummed out because I didn't think I could find an LED/LCD that'd compare, come close sure, but not on equal playing fields, I was wrong of course. This TV, the Sont XBR55X810C I must say outperforms my plasma. Now I'm sure, some of you are thinking, well of course it does, that plasma was 5 years old which means the tech in it was probably more like 6-7 years old for the most part. Well, you aren't necessarily wrong, I was totally biased at first. I was completely in the wrong when I didn't think LED tech has got on par with plasma lately, and in some cases, much better.
My biggest worry about going from plasma to LED was motion, as for the most part I knew the colors these days were pretty on-point (I'll get to black in the next paragraph). When it came to my plasma, I never had had an issue with motion between movies, shows or video games (PS4 or PC). I never once got that "soap opera" effect that I myself absolutely despise with a passion. No, seriously, its the worst thing ever in my opinion. I do not understand why anyone would enjoy that craptastic motion that ruins any and all visual experiences when seen, it makes everything look cheap and completely destroys what the filmmakers and even more so the cinematographers were wanting us viewers to experience in their movies. No, I don't mind that motion in video games, that a completely different visual medium where that motion actually enhances the immersion and experience. Long story short, this TV does a dream like job on motion, if you don't want the "soap opera" effect, don't, if you do, then do. The TV's motion settings are really great and have good depth in options in order to tweak it to your own personal idea of perfect motion for any medium your viewing.
My next big worry was blacks. My plasma did marvelous blacks. So good that like with motion, I was worried LED's just weren't there yet on these larger screens, but I was happily wrong again (FYI, the greatest thing I've learned in life was how great it is to be completely fine with being wrong/not knowing something, because it really is. I mean how are you suppose to learn and grow mentally if you can't admit that you're wrong and or don't know something.) Anyways, again, this TV totally did better than my plasma. The blacks are so black that when you see it you'll be like, "Yup, that black is f'n black."
I'd go into input lag, but I think if you're doing your research you'll already know that LED/LCD's have basically always been better in this department than plasma's. Like I mentioned before, my plasma was great in this area and honestly I can't tell the difference, I don't play enough FPS's online which is where you're really going to notice it if at all, I just know there is one and always has been one for the most part.
I guess what's left are the features. My plasma was 5-6 years old, it was not so good in TV features, it had the equivalent of a PC from 1995 running Netflix kind of speed to it, so I stopped immediately and just used my PS3/PS4. This Sony TV though, dang, AndoidTV is great, I love using my phone and telling my TV what to do since I don't seem to have that kind of power towards any living/breathing person/creature, may be my dog? I digress.. So yeah, the features for this TV are so fantastic, it has all the streaming apps you want and they run so totally smooth and quick. I've got absolutely no complaint in this department, especially considering my last TV so I may be a bit biased here for that reason.
Well, I guess I'll conclude my review here. The take away from my thoughts here, great motion, great blacks, great input lag, and obviously great colors they really pop on the right settings. Oh, settings, I fully believe everyone has their own personal taste usually, but if you're like me and want a starting point, these are what I found to be my set preference in visual settings, give them a try and tweak them to your liking from that point, even I will change certain here and there depending on a specific movie or game, but this is my "goto"::
Picture mode: Custom; Auto Picture Mode: Off; Brightness: 25; Color: 50; Light sensor: Off.
ADVANCED SETTINGS -
BRIGHTNESS - Brightness: 25; Contrast: Max; Gamma: 0; Black level: 50; Black adjust: Off; Adv. contrast enhancer: Off; COLOR - Color: 50; Hue: 0; Color temperature: Cool; Live Color: High; CLARITY - Sharpness: 50; Reality Creation: Off; Random noise reduction: Off; Digital noise reduction: Off; MOTION - Motionflow: Off; CineMotion: High.
Hope my review helps at least 1 person!!

The picture is fantastic when watched with a high def channel. I haven't watched with a blue ray or any 4k material yet, though i can't wait to see it.
The one bad thing I've noticed is if you aren't sitting in front of the screen, the image does degrade the further off axis you are. I haven't tried using the smart features as I am happy using my amazon firestick.

I would recommend this tv, although I think it is overpriced. I recently got a vizio m-series 4K tv which honestly has the same quality picture if not better and it was several hundred dollars cheaper. Up to you if you want to spend the money on the Sony. Besides the price, everything is great about this tv.

Unit is fantastic. Easy set up, great interface and lots of settings.
Amazing Sony picture. Small speakers but I have a 5.1 system so it does not matter. Only drawback is it needs more options for the remote controlling other equipment.

This TV has great picture and function. Easy to setup and use out of the box. Need about an hour to fully setup and download updates. Easy to connect to network. I have an antenna and stream tv and have been very pleased. I do have some issues with jittery screens while steaming sometimes when several devices are connected, but is most likely due to my bandwidth.
I love the inter-connectivity with other Sony products. I have a HT-RT5 soundbar, PS3, and DVD player and all respond with the single remote with ease. Turning on the DVD or PS3 automatically switches the soundbar and tv to the device.
My only negative is the remote does not have any microphone for voice command for voice activated android search. I had to download an app on my phone to compensate but I don't use it very often.

Purchased this TV 6 weeks ago and have been pleased with it. Although we don't have much 4K content yet, I am waiting for the new 4K DVDs to come out and try it with movies. TV was easy to set up and works great. The only problem I have had is that sometimes it reverts to the setup mode if the power goes out. Picture is great and viewing angle is great.

I'm very pleased with my purchase of this 4K television. Deep color and fantastic picture. This television has good sound but recommend you buy a sound bar for movie viewing. I watch mainly blu ray movies on this television .... just awesome .... have my home theater .. saved $400.00 on sale at Best BUY. Recommend this television if you want true color.

Had this mounted by the geek squad this weekend and so far great! I had to adjust the settings as the color was dark/gray out of the box, but once set up correctly it looks fantastic!
I haven't messed with the apps yet.
