I am done with Sony. Warranty: 12 months Dead Pixel: 14 months Of course. An $800 TV should last longer. Next time I will buy the cheap $200 dollar one and throw it out when the pixels die. Dang -

Great Mid Line 4K-DR 10 Display

Superb colors at even a higher price range. Great contrast and great black levels for the price. I owned the XBR49X800D. It was a great set but a little to small. This is the XBR49X800D's newer big brother. And it is actually a tad better. Remote is better, sound is better, color is more vibrant, the Triluminous display is really nice. and light uniformity(a biggie to me) is better. The only cons to me are the Android feature( a waste of money), the ads/ recommendations that come with this, the artificial limiting of the screen to 60hz, and the flimsy stand. Which is the same stand design as the 49" , so I knew that was coming. Over a nice Display for the money.

Purchased in November 2018 and still working flawlessly. Easy access to my Netflix, Amazon Prime, Paramount + and many more. Have sound hooked up through my component system since the sound quality on the unit was it's only minor flaw, Replaced an older behemoth Sony TV that just wouldn't die after 12 years but needed an update, Hope this one lasts as long with Sony's excellent quality.

I know there are TV's with better pictures out there, but this picture can't be beat for the price. Actually, from what I've looked at while shopping, there's not a TV on the market within $500 that can match the picture of this Sony. I've had Sony TV's in my living room for more than 30 years, and this is only my third one. The other two lasted that long. I did change out the picture tube in the first one though, so I guess you can count that as another TV if you want to. It was a console tube TV inside of a wooden enclosure; it was a thing of beauty. I loved it so much I purchased a 2nd one for my parents. My 2nd Sony was another tube TV, and it weighed what seemed like 300 lbs. I'm not sure how the TV cabinet held it up for 12 years, but it did; and it still does, I just don't live there anymore; I left it behind when I moved, and it's still playing. So this is my 1st digital shish-boom-bah TV, and I am once again sold on Sony.

    Best Sony Ever

I've owned several Sony TVs over the years but I believe this is probably the best overall. The picture quality is awesome and so far I really can't complain about anything although I've only had it for five days. The last Bravia I had I returned because I wasn't happy with the picture. I bought a Samsung instead. That was only two years ago, The Samsung picture started to deteriorate and the speakers would only intermittently work while using the Sony Surround Sound System. I bought this Sony XBR-55X800E and I couldn't be happier. My only qualm is that I wish it would've cost less. Good job Sony!

The tv has held up after many years. I am about to purchase another tv for the game room, and it will most likely be a Sony. The picture quality and sound quality are still just as sharp as the day I bought this tv.

    Amazing Display

I received my TV on June 29th. No problems with delivery. The Box was perfect … The TV had no scratches, no marks or dead pixels. Mounting the TV to the wall, Updating the TV, Login In to my Android account, calibrating colors and testing it out took about an hour and a half more or less. The Picture is amazing! I’ve already played a few Netflix Movies, You Tube videos, and Played Xbox on it. I have to say this took everything I threw at it in three days very well. There are just a few little hiccups with the TV. The response time from remote to TV can sometimes get laggy. The volume sometimes either doesn’t work right away, or it is delayed. When the TV is hooked up to the internet it sometimes has to be reconnected again. When watching Netflix on the built in app. If you by accident hit one of the buttons on the remote… say INPUT .. the tv starts to stutter. I also notice that if you are watching a movie with subtitles the blacks in the show/movie turn grey. It’s noticeable while you are watching TV during the night. Also there is some light bleeding on the bottom corners of the TV. Again not to noticeable unless there is a night scene. I am sure that there are other features on this tv that I have not access yet. I only wish that there was a place where I can find the right calibration and also a place to find out all the features of my tv has to offer. Other than that I am happy with my purchase. I should’ve done a little bit more research and find a tv that didn’t have the little annoying things that I’ve discovered with my tv. I am pretty happy and I just hope that the TV has a long life.

To be fair I’ve only used this tv for one day! However I LOVE IT! the most money I have ever spent on a tv and I believe it’s worth it! Color, clarity, picture and a Smart tv is a Plus! Now I’m not a tool person and it took me forever to figure out that I did not need to undo the screw and washer! Blonde moment...after I figured it out everything really was a cinch to put together and set up! I love that it has a stand so I don’t have to put it on the wall, but eventually I will! The tv was very much over my budget so it was nice to be able to use the stand for the tv. I will definitely be purchasing a sound bar. The sound isn’t horrible but it could be so so much better with a sound bar. I love having a smart tv...Netflix streams 4K for $11.99 so I upgraded to 4K! I watched Beauty and the Beast last night on Netflix and it looked incredible on the Tv. Hopefully I can read other posts to figure out how to get the optimum picture cause I haven’t a clue on how to do that! This is my first smear tv and first one this big. My other tv is a 32” Samsung Hand me down and I bought the small vizio in my bedroom like 6-8 years ago...it’s only a 26” so I made a huge jump but I think it’s well worth it! I read a lot of reviews on a variety of brands and this is the only one without negative comments! Invest in a great tv! I shouldn’t have to purchase another one for a long time!

First Impressions....I Bought This for HDR 4K

I just bought this set last night, so I'll probably update my review in time. I have another 4K setup (Samsung 6290), but the HDR capabilities are very lackluster. I had to calibrate that thing for days to finally get it to an acceptable level. This TV however....right out of the box the picture was beautiful. Super deep blacks, a high level of depth in the frame, life like picture...almost 3D like. My source was The Dark Knight 4K, which is a great demo disc by the way. But I haven't found any custom calibrations settings outside of Rtings.com. So once I have mine fine tuned, I'll post them here. Oh, and I like the Google apps too. All the popular apps are here, much like Roku.

    Sony TVs!

I would always recommend Sony or LG as a certified Technician! I love my Song it had lasted me for a few years now and still going strong! They are best for smart apps sure to running Android TV if your not using a Apple TV device. Rokus break to easily and the Fire sticks are quite limited! I'd always recommend adding a sound bar no matter the brand of TV Sony bars up nicely with them selves or with Bose a lot. I'm quite biased honestly to not doing Samsung I've seen to many repairs for them or fail to fast. Besides Sony makes the camcorders that most movies are shot on from the start!

    No Bluetooth Audio Support!!!!

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

My initial impressions of this TV were WOW. But after a using for a month or so I bought a Bluetooth sound bar and I wouldn't connect. I thought the sound bar was defective so I sent it back. Then the replacement sound bar wouldn’t connect, and I tried it with my Bluetooth headphones which also didn’t connect. Now the problem was apparent, I had a bad TV. Too bad it was outside of the return period. So I contacted Sony support. They regretted to inform me that the TVs in the 800 series don’t have support for Bluetooth Audio!!! What!! On a $1000 TV?!?! I feel really ripped off and theres nothing that I can do about it at this point. I was really sold on the 4k HDR that this TV offered and assumed something as basic as Bluetooth connectivity would be included in a TV in this price range. I was wrong. I will think twice before buying another Sony TV.

    X800E 55" Easy set up

Two person job to get it out of the box and up on it's stand. Plugged in the Cable box (HDMI 1) and turn it on. The set up is a bit long with a lot of options. The Wifi was great and connected with no issues. The TV did ask to check for an update and it was about an extra 10 minutes to get through. The TV then rebooted a couple of times and then it was up and running. The last thing is to tell it to use input HDMI 1 to see the signal from the cable box. Then went to Netflix and signed in - Cake. The remote is IR and must be pointed towards the TV - no big deal. Very little lag in the remote commands. This might have been addressed by Sony based on earlier reviews. The stand is still minimal - :) That's it so far - there is so many more features to explore. Voice recognition next. Then who knows. This replaced a 14 year old Sony XBR that still was working perfect. It was a 200 pound CRT TV that found a new home. Good for Sony
