Obviously you can spend thousands in a tv. However, buying a house soon etc., this is THE BEST tv I have ever owned. The motionflow is dope and the colors are AMAZING, some of the colors I've never seen before haha. I told myself 20 years ago, never buy anything electronic unless it is a SONY. Should have held to that, but now I totally will!
Excellent job Sony!

bought this to pair to my ps4 pro bad decision its like Sony products do not compliment each other nothing in the settings made the TV or console give me a better experience my eyes hurt with how bright the sun reflected off the road in nfs payback this is with hdr10 turned on and with it on auto just looked so dark like tint was installed on the screen but when viewing in photo mode or watching tv its good but don't get it for gaming you wont be happy also the stand is stupid super flimsy almost like a swing set with how far back you tap the top corners

Poor Handling of HDR Content

I was in the market for a 4k HDR TV and chose this one based on the viewing angles (most have poor viewing angles). I was very satisfied with this aspect of the TV. Sports and regular HD 1080p via cable box was excellent from any angle. I also watched a blu-ray on the TV and was satisfied. But then I tried out the HDR capabilities. I viewed an episode of Daredevil on Netflix, and things were going ok until there was a dark scene. All the blacks appeared as a fuzzy, grey haze. I thought at first I was just tired, and rubbed my eyes several times. I tried adjusting the picture settings, and the Cinema Pro setting helped a little, but not enough. I read some expert reviews online and they stated that this TV is unable to handle dark scenes, and boy are they right. It's so distracting that it makes HDR content unwatchable. If HDR viewing doesn't matter, you're better off buying a regular HD TV for half the price. I'm just going to open my wallet and get an LG OLED instead.

These T.V.s come out of the box ready to go and they're great quality, however if you don't know what you're doing you don't get the full experience of 4K HDR. You have to activate this feature somewhere in display settings.
Once HDR is activated it will throw all the colors off and you will have to recalibrate. Use another tv or device for frame of reference when recalibrating so your colors match.
I spent a whole year watching without HDR and had no clue i hadn't activated it until i watched one of the last episodes of Game of Thrones where they fight the white walkers for the last time. I couldn't see squat and my black levels looked like clouds and completely ruined my viewing experience to the point where i almost threw the tv in the trash. I did some digging, activated HDR and re-calibrated my colors. I went from seeing nothing to seeing everything.
These TVs are the best. Don't let anyone tell you different.

This was my 1st new TV since 2005 so I am easily impressed, but this TV is performing above and beyond all expectations. I spent months going back and forth between this model and the LG OLED, but decided on the Sony because I have always owned a Sony. I use a digital antenna that receives approximately 12 channels and then stream the balance of our entertainment. This TV hooked up immediately to our Verizon router and logged onto the Amazon Prime account and man this is a gorgeous picture. There is some learning curve for a person that hasn’t had a new TV since 2005, but easy enough. You will be pleased with this TV.

After having a Sony Trinitron for 15 years I had to give it up because the TV would not marry up to the X1 box. The set was still working when I gave it away. I had a 75 inch Mitsubishi DLP for many years, After it died I bought the Sony 75 inch XBR and loved it. About a year later when I bought a condo on the beach I bought the 65 inch XBR and loved it too. Now when it came time to buy a 55 inch for my bedroom you know where I went.......Sony ....... Got it today and it is gorgeous. I say if you don’t want baloney go with a Sony. My 3rd. Keep up the great work!!!! See two of the 3 TVs in my post, I’m at the condo so no 75 picture.

After visiting couple of stores like BJ's costco walmart including BestBuy couple of time to remove my old Sony Bravia model 2010 32inch 720p lcd kind of TV to 4K UHD 55" to 65". My hallway is small space in corner area so, I choose best is 55". Picture quality, 4k UHD video excellent. After comparing all other brands and my budget, I choose this TV for best excellent entertainment. my family loving to watch. BEST TV, don't go more research if you want new 4K UHD TV buy this, in store you will ocnfuse to watch other TV's which are above $2000 but this will be satisfying TV for me, for gaming, videos Blueray all good. problem for this tv is bluetooth pairing with other brands my mean is can't pair to a year old vizio sound bar on Bluetooth I have to use optical cable. rest all good.

Great Picture, Horrible OS and apps

For the money, this TV has a great picture. Brilliant colors and excellent contrast, especially when viewing HDR10 content. Where the TV really fails is with Sony's insistence on using Android TV for its smart apps. It may be hard to believe, but this severely limits the ability of many apps to display 4K content on this TV, particularly Vudu and FandangoNow. According to both Vudu and FandangoNow, this si beause they deem that Android 7.0 (which this TV comes with) is not secure enough for 4K content. Sony has refused to comment on this. My recommendation would be to purchase a Roku or Samsung UHD Blu-ray player if you want to watch Vudu in 4K.

WiFi Issues

I purchased this TV in Feb 2018 so I have had it enough time to figure it out. First the overall picture is very nice on this TV especially with sports. Movies or shows with dark scenes it is not good. The big problem is wifi. The TV will not auto update at all, this is because of wifi issues. I had to download the update to a USB stick through my computer and put into the TV. This weekend we downloaded NFL Sunday Ticket app and it would barely stream. We put the same app on an old Fire TV stick on a basement TV far from the router and no issue streaming football. I have Fios Gig internet at 940. The funny part is back in Feb I tried to stream 4 K on this TV and I only had 150 Mg from Fios and did the upgrade. It doesn't matter with this TV so annoying spending $900 on a Sony. The end of story is I just purchased Amazon Fire TV 4 K to solve the bad smart google TV...Ugh

I bought this TV late 2017 and still love it. It has an IPS screen so it doesn’t get washed out from viewing it from angles. Compared to the other TVs when I looked in person, this one popped out the most and had the most vivid display and clarity for my budget. It also had the best coloring (no blueish or pinkish tiny). The only thing I regret was getting the 49” vs 55”

I had an LG 55" which died after 4 years, but otherwise was perfect. This Sony 55" 4K UHD was the best choice from comparing LG, Vizio, and Samsung as replacements. Very satisfied with quality of picture, tones, hue and color, and looks much sharper than my LG.

In less than two months my Sony Bravia 4K TV would not start. Every time I pressed the power button on the remote I got a red light blinking on the front bottom of the screen and the TV would not start. I called the warranty people and they opened up the TV and replaced a 9”X9” squared circuit board that according to the technician was about $300.00 and the TV still did not start. The technician then ordered the main board a rectangular 9”X10” circuit board and scheduled another appointment for when the part arrived. The technician estimate of the main board cost was of more than $400.00. I did not wait for this part to arrive and decided to go to Best Buy and explain my situation. They kindly gave me a Samsung 4K TV in exchange. I was happy with Best Buy and disappointed with Sony’s poor quality.
