I bought this TV along with a Sony Hi-Def Bluray player and the picture is amazing. Even my TV shows look awesome. It was well worth what I paid for.

I would have given this TV a 5, but the streaming User interface, WIFI, and Ethernet connections have not improved at all in the last 5 years apparently. I still need to run my streaming services hard connected through my ROKU Ultra into an HDMI port for reliable, fast navigation and uninterrupted streaming. The Sony UI is sluggish and streaming directly through the Ethernet port is unreliable, and the built in WIFI is horrid. To be fair, I have yet to see any smart TV that was any good at those functions. That being said, ROKU plus Sony TV.......I am very happy.

I am being critical here and giving the tv 3 stars. The pros: picture is phenomenal, plenty apps, great for gaming (average player), and surprisingly the sound is pretty good. I’m giving it a 3 for the fact this tv is SLOW.... we are in 2019 and the price point of this tv should move it from the slower side of the tv spectrum. Mine is always slow and sometimes freezes from not being able to process I assume. A lot of good for this tv but had I known how slow it is, I prob wouldn’t have gone with this tv. Again, the picture/sound is great just slow

5th year owning this TV, had a few issues in the past with HDR causing the TV to continually reset until a software update fixed this, now I have an LED zone go dead causing the TV to reset anytime an HDR signal is detected, since this is a hardware issue I need to replace this TV. On a positive note, I have used this TV far more than an average user, for at least 3 years used this TV for 14+ hours a day straight. Mainly used for gaming as well for up to 8 of those hours straight.

I would have given this review a one star but decided on a two star as Sony support was awesome. I had a limited budget and this TV broke it a bit but I didn't want to go the TCL Roku route because of the severe banding issues on their 55" & 65" TVs. I knew this was a two year old model, but it seemed to have decent reviews. I bought it with BB delivery and setup. I also had BB take my dead three year old cheap Insignia that had blown its back light. The BB setup team was very prompt and professional. This TV died, completely unresponsive except for a green LED on the front. I called Geek Squad hoping they might wave that I was 4 days past the return date. Of course they sent me to Sony. I called Sony support and went through their litany of troubleshooting. Nothing worked. They had me send a couple pictures to verify the TV. They then dispatched a delivery of a replacement to my residence. I received a call informing me of acceptance of the failed product but they would be sending a substitute TV as the X800E was no longer in stock for them. The Sony rep said they would be sending me an X900F. A nice $400 upgrade! I arrived in a week and was set up in my residence. The X800E was taken away. The X900F works great so far. Getting back to my 2 star rating for the product. I stand by it as the TV died within 3 weeks of new. Even as I was compensated by Sony with a replacement upgrade. It doesn't remove the fact that the X800E was a lemon TV in my case. If you are considering this TV, think twice. Reliability many not be your friend. In the end I am happy I have a new TV, but it was a bit disappointing that this model turned out bad and most likely end-of-life.

Sony tv’s aren’t for me, one star is too many

I purchased my first Sony tv in 2017, everything was fine until all of a sudden my cable box stopped producing sound with the tv. My PlayStation and DVD player would work, even streaming there was sound. I went through the settings of both the cable box and tv. Nothing worked. I changed out the HDMI cables and even the cable box. Still no sound. I tried to connect the cable box to a different tv (insignia) and it worked. The only thing that worked was switching the HDMI cable to a different HDMI port on the tv, which is fine, until it happened again. I switched to a different port and it happened again. I kept doing this until I eventually ran out of ports to connect the cable box to, they all stopped working with my cable box. I called Geek Squad and they said it was a bad HDMI board in the tv. They ordered the parts and attempted to fix it. Well when they put the new HDMI board in and put the tv back together and mounted it, they turned the tv on and there were a series of colorful blocks on the screen, then it’ll switch to a red screen, then blue, then black. The GS tech said the brand new HDMI board that was ordered for me was bad. He put the old board back in so that I could still at least watch Netflix or movies. But once he did that it was still the same thing with the colorful blocks and the screen going from black to blue. They ended up giving me a credit for the tv. Now last year in October I purchased this tv the X800E Series thinking everything would be fine, and everything was fine. Up until two months ago when the same issue came about. The sound just stopping working all of a sudden. So again I switched the HDMI to a different HDMI port on the tv. A week later the same issue. I switched it a final time and it was great, up until yesterday. Again no sound. Everything that I’ve done with the previous Sony I’ve done to this one. Switching out the HDMI cables, switching the cable box, connecting the cable box to a different tv (which worked). It’s literally been 5 months and the tv is doing the same thing. I didn’t even bother with calling to have it serviced because I didn’t get the GS protection, and I hear that Sony’s customer service is the absolute worst. This didn’t happen when I had a Samsung, which lasted for years and is still kicking to this day. I only gave it to my mother-in-law because I wanted a bigger tv. But I should’ve stuck with Samsung again. I’ll be giving this tv to my brother because he asked for it and at least it’ll serve it’s purpose. It’ll be just a gaming/ streaming tv.

    Got a Lemon

After about a month the Tv would not turn on. I followed the directions on Sony's website and my Tv is still having this issue. I have to unplug my mounted tv from the wall outlet and then plug it back in. The tv will work fin for a few weeks and then do this again. The biggest issue has been Sony Support. I've called 5 times and have been told that the engineering department would have to call me back in a few business days. They've been telling me this since Early October. I have now talked to three different representatives since then. Still no engineering department call. I just want my tv fixed.

    Faulty Sony TV

I am not very pleased with Sony. 3 years ago, I wanted to give Sony a try and bough a Sony 4K HDR ultra, even though I only had Samsung TV’s. I had problems with this TV since the very beginning. I have to unplugged it mostly all the time to get it to turn on, or unplugged it to stop it from turn on itself. The last issue, after a software update, it kept resetting itself and when I called Sony, they told me to try a few things (that I already tried because of Google) and since it did not work, I have to choose to take it to a technician at only 2 locations in Florida that are 150 and 350 miles from where I live. And of course, since it does not have a guarantee anymore, I will have to pay for a repair that was cause because of their update. I will never buy a Sony again.

Beautiful TV until the main board blew out 4 months after manufacturer's warranty expired. Cost to fix over $600. Lesson learned....Don't buy a good TV unless you can afford the warranty with it.

Has software update issues. It gave errors/exceptions while I was watching, and then it has been restarting since then in a loop. :( It's less than 2 year old TV, and Sony doesn't give any warranty on TVs which are more than one year old.

Not impressed. I have a ten year old XBR Bravia and the picture, side by side is night and day. The ten year old XBR Bravia wins hands down. I just set this baby up, and will play with it and see if I can at least get it close. I will report back.

EVERY SINGLE DAY. EVERY day I have to screw around with this thing for 15 minutes before i can watch anything. It forgets my wifi network EVERY SINGLE DAY, says its not connected to the internet, i open settings, AND WHAT DO YOU KNOW, it says im connected to the internet but chooses not to work anyway! I detach then reattach to wifi, sometimes i have to enter the password, sometimes i dont, IT CHANGES EVERY FREAKING DAY. Its newest thing is just not responding to the power button or remote, just like a bricked android phone that youd have to take the battery out of to get it to unbrick, except you have to unplug it from the wall. My roommate has the samsung 55 inch smart, and IT ALWAYS WORKS, and here i am, the idiot who paid 300 dollars more than he did for a tv that LITERALLY CANT FIND THE SAME WIFI I CONNECT TO EVERY DAY EACH TIME I TURN IT ON. Dont buy this garbage. Sony is terrible at software. My sony cameras are a nightmare, my ps4 pro is all kinds of janky, sony is garbage.

I’ve had this TV just a little over two years and one night just watching it, the TV just gave out. It disconnected from the WiFi. When we would try to reconnect it would automatically pop back off of WiFi. After restarting it I get an error message saying “The system has encountered an error. Contact Sony directly.” First TV I’ve ever had that’s only lasted me 2 years and I’ve had many.

Android TV failed after six months

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Eventually the TV started not being able to turn off on its own, so I had to use a power cord disconnect. After a week of that, the TV would never get past the Android logo. 6 months of use on an $800 TV. I bought the warranty protection, so I thought great, but I'm soon on the fourth visit by the geek squad which of course means I'm not working and have no TV for about two months. We'll see if the next visit works or if they can finally replace the lemon. My recommondation, better off with a cheaper dumb TV and don't do warranty.
