I purchased a VIZIO M50 E-1 after reading multiple reviews. When I set it up in my home, I found it to be very hazy at most of the viewing angles in my den. I returned it and then did some further research on "viewing angles." The Sony XBR-55X800E was rated in the best 5 and was the best price, so I purchased it and set it up in the same location. Night and day difference. I watch a lot of sports and the viewing has been excellent. It was easy to set up and after two weeks, I am very satisfied.

TV is hands down the best TV I have ever purchased, everything works great, sophisticated yet simple navigation through all product capabilities, and looks amazing. The only thing I was not pleased with is the remote. It doesn't have light-up buttons so you can't see the buttons in the dark so this sucks if you like watching movies or playing video games in the dark. Also, the remote actually needs to be pointed at the TV for it to work, kind of like they did 10 years ago. I tried changing the channel from some odd angles and it simply wouldn't work.

I purchased the Sony XBR55X800E because I was really impressed by the picture in the store. I read reviews and articles about it before I bought it. Basic setup was easy. I immediately began having problems with the remote - pressing buttons and getting no response. At the end of the day of watching TV, I was ready to throw the remote at the TV. Picture did look good though. Went back to Best Buy, talked to the Sony rep. He said that should not be happening and recommended I bring the TV back for an exchange. I exchanged the TV for the same model, and I'm glad I did. The picture on this one was even better than the first TV. The remote worked just fine. Occasionally there is a response lag and sometimes the volume up/down button does not respond immediately. This is especially true when the internet is involved. I was impressed by the amount of settings that are available for the picture and sound. Overall, I am very happy with this TV. The biggest con for me is the lack of documentation of the settings. No user manual is included with the TV, in fact none is available. There is a help document on the website, but it really didn't help me at all. I did have to call Sony support and there were great.

The TV has very nice color and resolution. The dynamic response seems very good from action movies to sports on TV. The smart TV programs are nice and work quickly (a drawback I have seen in past). Only issue I have is there are a few bugs that are a little annoying. I seems that the TV turned on by itself, but can't tell if it didn't completely turn off to begin with, either way it was an annoyance. One other bug we saw early on was that we had an issue where we switched from Netflix to TV and sound was lost (TV had to be turned off for 10 minutes to come back). Have not had this issue for awhile so the bug might have been fixed.

I did my research ahead of time. By far this Sony tv was the best bang for the buck!! I absolutely love it! The picture quality is second to none, so is the vivid colors! I could really tell the difference when I use 4k content from Netflix etc. It comes with a live football mode which is pretty cool. I love the "smart" remote control, you can speak to it and it'll automatically redirect you to your command. This is the truly the way smart tv should work!

I am very happy with the picture on this tv. However if you plan on listening to it via Bluetooth headphones then you are going to be very disappointed. In the product specs it says it has Bluetooth and that it will connect to a large number of Bluetooth devices. The truth is it will not do that. According to Sony support if you want Bluetooth that will actually connect to your headphones or speakers you have to buy an 850 series or higher television. It is hard for me to believe that in 2017 Sony still hasn't figured out that people want Bluetooth on these devices. Sony you shouldn't advertise that you have Bluetooth when in fact your Bluetooth is a bad joke.

Was torn between two Sony TV, 4k HD versus 4K HD with HDR. Seeing the two units side by side sold me on this model which has HDR and we have not been disappointed. Great picture and fast response as a bonus. The Netflix performance if much faster than anything else in our home. In order to port audio to your old stereo sound system an optical D/A converter like the Insignia NS-HZ313 plus an optical cable are recommended. Great TV.

The picture quality on this tv is awesome. The Sony upscaling and HDR really make everything on the screen pop. The included features are great too. Built-in antenna tuner has a built-in tv guide capability to show you what's on live TV. The Google play store access can't be beat to download any channels/apps. Built-in Chromecast, really nice user interface, and picture-in-picture round out a phenomenal feature package.

We are very pleased with the purchase. This is our first Sony TV.
The picture quality is amazing! Bright crisp and clear colors. Every channel comes in as expected even old TV programs from the 1970-90"s. Calibration was not necessary for this TV because it met our expectations. DVD and Blue Ray films look great! The settings feature is very user friendly.

I had been looking for a new TV to replace my 40” Sony lcd that I had. I checked out many different brands. I decided to go to Best Buy to view them in person. This 55” Sony 4K UHD model (800 series) that I chose was the best TV for the money I was looking to spend. The picture is amazing. The side angles of watching tv are important to me and this TV gave me the best picture, by far, compared to other brands. All the extra options this TV provided have been great. If you’re looking for a very good TV at a reasonable price without breaking the bank, then I would definitely recommend this Sony TV.

TV was fairly easy to set up. The picture was pretty good out of box, but much better after tweaking. IR blaster was confusing, but after a couple of tries, I did get it to work. Not sure I needed 4k, as I'm only viewing 1080i with cable and streaming. Viewing angle is superb. Colors are bright and realistic. I am not a huge fan of Android TV, so I have my Roku box connected. I think I'll like the TV, but would've possibly been just as happy with a less expensive brand.

Overall, this is a good tv. The apps on it are really nice to use and the picture is solid as well. It may not be as bright as some, i.e. Samsung Tv's, but the matte makes for less glare which is nice. I would probably give 5 stars, but the remote is clunky. It takes a while, comparatively, to move from one screen or input to another. It's not really a problem, just frustrating.

This is our third Sony HD TV, all in the 55"-65" range. I find the colors very pleasing to the eye, somewhat above the average HD TV set. The slightly higher cost is worth in my opinion the Sony performance. We watch cable TV, Netflix and YouTube. This TV provides the viewer time-after-time with a very enjoyable experience.

This is the perfect TV for non techie people. So easy to toggle between cable and smart functions. The picture is phenomenal and we highly recommend purchasing a sound bar to accompany it. Almost like being in a theatre. And the “geeks” from Best Buy could not have been more patient or kind when showing us how to use it.

I initially had purchased a Samsung television for a friend for Christmas.
The picture quality with the Samsung was good. The controls were all right. And the controller was kind of annoying. Yet the Clincher was the Samsung Smart Hub.
We both are marked on how my Sony controller is so much easier to use. And see Sony layout for finding channels and setting up was infinitely easier.
I'm sorry Samsung, but from now on not only will my TV's be made by Sony, but if I decide to give another TV to anyone, it will be a Sony.
