I started with a Samsung but was very unhappy with the picture. If you were 3' off center the picture changed and got worse every foot off center. This Sony 900e.has a much better picture. Even off center it's much better. Don't think the OLED'S are worth the difference in price.

This TV has all the specs needed to best capitalize on the TV's 4K and HDR capabilities. I spent weeks reviewing and doing research on TV's and every time, the research kept pointing me towards this TV for the best quality per price TV on a steady budget.

We waited a year and did our research before purchasing the Sony. The picture is wonderful, and the sound on the TV itself is good. We read many reviews online and finally purchased the Sony to replace our 10-year-old Toshiba. Couldn't be more pleased.

We purchased this tv after our Beat Buy rep helped us select it because it had the picture quality we were looking for and it was on sale. A couple of the reps owned them personally and said we wouldn’t be disappointed. They were right it is perfect.

I’m very happy with this 4kTV. It has exceeded my expectations. The picture details, colors, and brightness are great. The TV’s smart capabilities are good and fast. It does everything I wanted and more. I got it at a great price at BestBuy as well

This TV is as good as it gets, just short of OLED. It is a bit on the pricey side, but the picture quality demands it. Phenomenal lighting, as well. In some instances, you would think the TV has turned off, as the blacks are so true. Would recommend.

Best tv I’ve ever owned. I’ve purchased Samsung in the past only for them to last a few years. Compared Samsung side by side and for the money this tv had more options and a better picture.

I was going back and forth between this Sony XBR55X900E and an LG, I decided on the Sony as I've had them in the past and was always well satisfied. The LG that I was looking at had wonderful ratings for the audio clarity without the need to purchase a soundbar. This Sony had mixed reviews on the audio but wonderful reviews for the picture quality. I thought, what the heck it's a Sony, the audio has to be better than what some people reported, I was dead wrong. Since I don't watch a lot of sports and no gaming whatsoever, I'm wishing I would have gone with the LG; no matter how I try to adjust the sound on this television, it sounds tinny, it's horrible. I would just as soon not have to purchase a sound bar. One would think with a fairly expensive television, and a Sony at that, that a soundbar would not be needed, especially when living in an apartment. I'm glad I got this television on sale, not sure how well a return will work, especially since I had the Geek Squad take the box. I'm giving a 3-star rating because of the wonderful picture, but horrible audio. I can not wholeheartedly recommend this television if you're sensitive to sound quality.

decided to put a tv in the bedroom, thought a 55 inch would be too big, nope just right. the sony 900 4k for me is a super great picture. no problems yet hope never. considered soundbar but the tv speakers for the 900 sony is overly good and loud.

I have had a Samsung HD TV for 15+ years and didn’t realize what I was missing, they are not even comparable. Best Buy was great for answering my questions and offering assistance. The Sony is great and working with Best Buy was a good experience.

I have always owned a Sony TV and this model does not disappoint. The clarity is outstanding and the phone support is outstanding. This TV is as good or better than any Samsung product on the market. Buy this TV and you will not be disappointed.

Great picture with HD and HDR content, but not any better with 1080 content. I replaced a 6 year old Sony Bravia XBR with this 55" LED and was very disappointed I did not see anything better about the picture when watching normal TV, sports, movies, etc. The only thing that seemed a little better is playing games that support HD/HDR. I like the TV but it was not a very good value. for normal content.

So far I have no issues with the television. Great Picture, especially for dark scenes in shows and movies. Sound is better than average, but not the best. Would recommend highly. especially for the money I paid. which was 1272.00 out the door.

I was out of the loop with the latest technology, until my 2008 50" samsung plasma developed a green line down the left side, so I was forced to get up to speed quickly. I checked out 2017's Samsung and Sony offerings, and was disappointed with Samsung's choice to go with an external box for all AV connections, rather than these being integrated into the TV itself. I took a chance on the Sony, based on a recommendation by a friend. The local Best Buy salesperson recommended the comparable Samsung, despite my complaint regarding the dongle/external connections box, only offering advice in favor of this connection method by stating that "this is what makes it awesome"... Truly in-depth expertise.... I had no idea that the Sony TV was based on "Android TV", as its base operating system, and that pressing the power button on the remote only puts the TV in "standby" mode and does not actually power the set down, which leaves all background apps open the next time you turn the TV back on. In order to close the apps (many of which are unnecessary bloatware, included by Sony) you must navigate through several menu items and close each app individually, or remove the power cable from the TV. When connected to my audio receiver via optical cable, Pandora audio glitches (random missed bits of information?) then finally crashes in the middle of a song, or sometimes when a song ends, it will not load the next song, regardless of network connection method (WiFi or Ethernet). The app seems unstable and buggy. I have confirmed that the latest updates are installed for Android TV, and there is no newer version of Pandora available. I submitted a crash report with a detailed explanation to Sony 2 weeks ago, but have not received a response. The only other app I have used is Netflix, which plays audio via the same method without interruption, and the app is stable. Overall, the image quality is what kept me from returning this TV. I'm not an expert, but I did appreciate the black levels and contrast of my old Plasma. I did not think anything could come close, but I'm truly blown away by the image quality of this TV. I can keep the network cable unplugged and wifi turned off, and use it as a standard, non-smart TV. Hopefully Sony will update the software to be more stable in the future. I'm a bit concerned with the consideration of when the latest generations of TVs are no longer supported by manufacturers, and new software/firmware updates are no longer offered. I haven't been able to find any information which provides the duration of support from Sony for this set.

I'm really happy with my Sony tv. I was debating between the 800 and 900 series but there was no comparison when I saw them in the store. The picture is amazing and the sound quality is pretty good although I will still be adding a sound bar.

Great TV in general. Fun features like voice control. But, there seems to be some "dragging" when the picture needs to catch up with the stream. Either I have really bad internet connection here or the TV just has that as a fault. The techs couldn't figure it out. For now, I live with it. Otherwise a wonderful picture.

I did a lot of research prior to making this purchase. I didn't want to break the bank and buy an OLED, so I started looking into mid-range 4K with HDR. I knew the motion and refresh rates, along with vivid colors were very important to me. All of my reading led me to purchase this TV at $999 on-sale before the Super Bowl. I am very happy with my decision. Great picture right out of the box and I haven't even tried tweaking the settings yet. I would recommend this tv to anyone looking for high-end performance at a mid-range price point.
