I just recently bought this TV and I love it. I did a lot of research on TVs and decided this was the best for our requirements. The picture quality is amazing. The sound is good even without a sound bar. The TV was very easy to set up. I wanted to get an OLED TV but the price is still too steep. I highly recommend this TV to anyone looking for a great quality system at a good price.

The picture quality is top-notch. Colors pop, blacks are very black, and the settings allow a wide variety of adjustment to make the picture perfect.
The only downsides to the TV is the UI, which is kinda lousy and is used more as an opportunity to sell you services. And the remote is very dated.
But you buy a TV for the image quality, and this TV can't be beat for the price.

I spent several weeks looking for the right tv for me and my home. After a lot of reviews and thought I decided on this TV. I am not disappointed. Great picture and the features are easy to use as well as the apps with the smart remote. It has plenty of HDMI inputs for my surround sound, Xbox and Fire Stick. Regular price was 1399.00, I paid 999.00!! That is a fantastic deal!!!

Great elements of the Sony 900e start with the fact that Sony understands customers still have older equipment and want to continue using it. It has a spectacular picture and the color is eye catching. I love the android operating system as it works splendidly and allows a significant amount of customization. Be advised that the Sony HDTVs I have owned took a while to break in. I know that sounds odd but it’s true. At first there are artifacts or clarity issues that are not deal breaking but just not spot on for a 4K HDTV. After about three weeks and a firmware update it came into its own. This model has been hailed as competition for OLED models just less expensive. I agree with that assessment, the blacks are, well very black. You do get a bit of blooming from light on dark text presentations, but it does not impact the video. It is bright enough for lit rooms. Also Sony does not automate external device operation as much as other companies try to do but on the other hand it just works and theirs doesn’t. I had a Samsung and the screen failed three times. The voice control did not work, and the automated device control constantly set itself up in a confused and dysfunctional way with no way to override it. The curved screen afforded a passive 3D feel that I liked, but if the HDTV keeps breaking, does not work and play well with other devices, what it’s the point. So, hands down Sony is a much better option. P.S. always get the warranty, you will not regret it!

I bought this set to replace a 60" LG 4K set that I had for just a few months but returned due to some serious light blooming/bleeding issues, and I am extremely pleased with the Sony. The colors and contrast are phenomenal. With the exception of an OLED, I believe that Sony 4Ks are the best TVs out there.
My only complaint is that while this set does a great job of upscaling 1080p content -- whether Blu-ray or HD streaming via Netflix and Amazon -- regular broadcast HD (which is 720p) isn't incredibly sharp; in fact, regular broadcast HD content looks sharper on my 7-year-old Sony 1080p TV. However, I believe that's likely the case with most, if not all, 4K TVs, in that you need content that is native 1080p or higher (4K) to really get the best picture. Overall, though, this is a great 4K set, and I highly recommend it.

Everything about the tv truly is great!! I've always owned Samsung and although I have no complaints I am very happy with my new Sony Bravia X900e..its the cheapest tv under 65' that is 4k and native 120 out the box speeds. If I had to be negative I will say there is a glare with bright rooms and it is made for head on not angle viewing..i love it though!

I did around 40 hours or so of research on a 4k TV to buy. I weighed in on a lot of TVs including the Vizio P series, KS8000 and even oled. Settled on this and I couldn't be happier. Picture is great, deep blacks, the HDR works great, motion handling is top notch, and I don't notice any light bleeding.
I have my surround sound receiver with my cable and Xbox One S hooked up and it looks great. I don't notice input lag playing games online and 4k movies look phenomenal.

So I got this TV during the Black Friday sale. It's just awesome. True 4K with HDR is just on a different level. The good thing about 4K HDR watching here is that colors pop so nicely. I had people in skype who thought I was playing some sort of games (in PS4) but it was just how beautiful an image I paused at was or movie playing behind. On the note of Con, I would say that levels of black do show up at some level which I didn't expect, but it's alright....nothing's perfect. I'm very happy with the purchase and getting it at 1K and 400 bucks of savings. Also, some people mentioned in their reviews about how bad the remote is, but upon receiving mine I didn't see any lag though, but just that even the slightest block between the remote and TV can cause interference in commands going through to the TV from the remote. All in all, I'm very happy with this TV

After much research and comparisons, bit the bullet and went for this Sony 55" with HDR, 4K, and so on. Wanted to have something with enough to last me a few years without being obsolete, something I could use for new services (my old set-up could not stream). Delivered on time and I had the Geek Squad do the hook up (also had a new wireless DVR, Sound Bar, and Smart Remote). The tech quickly got all of the new systems talking to my Wi-Fi and each other, showed us how it was working. Money was well worth not spending time and head ache trying to get it all to work.
TV itself, has been excellent; image and features as promised, very pleased to date.

I recently purchased this TV from Best Buy and have been really happy with the TV looks, performance and visuals. The new SONY UHD with HDR makes it very vibrant and bright TV. After moving from a projector back to a TV i was sceptical on whether i will like watching stuff on TV. The wide angle screen with UHD quality provided a good experience of watching movies.
Pros - Good looking, vibrant colors, Easy setup, google voice search is really good. TV remote is universal and syncs with other devices (sonos, apple tv etc) seamlessly and automatically.
Cons - Only complain i have is with the remote. It would have been better with a touch pad which could help navigate and the click sound of the remote is slightly nagging sometimes.

Set up is very smooth, and self explanatory. Maneuvering through the settings is quite easy as well. Overall a nice layout which can be expected from an android based product.
If you’re looking for quality picture with quick response time this is the TV for you! I have read reviews before purchasing and there was talk of the lag with the remote which is definitely true.
The biggest con for this TV is with the remote... The remote itself is nice, everything you would want but no back light? It should not be a deal breaker but for the price you pay for this TV you should be getting a remote that lights up.
I work in the electronics field myself and as I tell many customers, you get what you pay for. If you want the picture quality, the variability in the interface, lighting, refresh rate, etc. you are going to pay a little more but it really is worth it!
Before you purchase I recommend thinking about what you want most out of a TV and reading reviews. Find what you need/want in a TV then find the category that fits you and go from there.
Overall, great TV if you’re in the market for a nice upgrade and want something with all the extras.
It just needs a back light on the remote to add a better experience!

Hands down the best picture of any TV at this price point, almost flawless colors and silky blacks compliment the screen but the Android operating system of the TV is a little clunky. Its not a horrible experience by any means and having the Google Play store offers a lot more app options than the other big name TV alternatives have but you can tell it nether has enough ram or processing power to rival what a $200 smart phone can offer. In the end it was between a Samsung TV and the Sony for the same price, I actually thought the Samsung looked better in store but I'm told that is because Samsung has a very heavy rendered "Retail Mode" they have the display TVs on, the Sony had a much more realistic picture and rich fluid colors not to mention it has local dimming vs the similar priced competitors edge lit display. I would recommend this TV, but the "Smart" aspect of this TV needs a little work and should hopefully get better with updates.

TV quality out of the box is pretty great. Input lag is low enough for gaming even when upscaling 1080p content.
Passes surround sound to my sonos speakers no problem. The built-in chromecast does have some input lag. But for streaming videos it works good enough
Only real issue I'm having is my wifi signal keeps dropping. Everytime I use the TV I have to re-connect. Kind of annoying, but I haven't had time to try and diagnose it. Could be an easy fix, not sure
Most reviewers say the viewing angle is not the best, I think its fine. In my opinion, the picture quality remains great for normal range of viewing angles.
Overall build quality is awesome, packaging was polished. very happy with the purchase

So far my TV has been great. The picture is crisp, live action sports look smooth (def worth finding a 120mhz refresh rate if you're a sports fan), and the Android OS it runs on supports voice control which is cool (albeit a bit gimmicky). One thing to note though, there isn't a ton of 4k content out just yet, which you need to really see and take full advantage of the 4k difference. The TV does have an upscaling engine which attempts to render 1080 content at higher resolution, and it does manage to look sharper and more detailed than traditional 1080, but really you have to watch something like Netflix Original programming or a 4k Blu Ray to really see how stunning it can be.

Only flaw I see with this TV is not necessarily with the tv but with the AndroidTV operating system. I thought I would be able to get away with having to use a fire stick since it’s Android based but DirectvNOW does not natively run on this tv even though fire sticks are android based, maybe it’s Directv’s fault for not developing the app to work on Android TV but oh well. Now I can get the app to work using the fire stick when I plug it into the TV, but after turning it off and coming back later in the day to watch it, it disappears from the input selection as if it is not plugged in, I don’t know if it is because I have it plugged into usb for power but I tried moving hdmi ports as well as USB ports and the problem persists so maybe I have to use amazons bulky adapter but I don’t want to disturb the completely floating wireless look. Other than that issue the picture is terrific and the sound is pretty decent. Supported apps work very well and the menu is very snappy. Seeing movies I know very well for the first time in 4K is amazing, even my 1080p collection looks very good as the upscaling works quite well.

This TV has turned out to be even more than I could have asked for in a television. Being a gamer and a designer, I did extensive research to find the perfect TV that would cater to what I was specifically looking for without breaking the bank, and the Sony 900E has delivered tenfold.
The display is absolutely gorgeous, and I'm still trying to get over how beautiful the blacks look and how rich the colors are to complement them.
Gaming on both the Xbox One S and the PS4 have been wonderfully smooth experiences, with no noticeable jitter or lag, and incredibly minimal motion blur.
I'm extremely excited to try it out with the Xbox One X later this fall, but until then, the TV has delivered a fantastic gaming experience for FPS's and RPG's.
As for TV and movie viewing, I've yet to have an issue with anything I've watched, be it 4k, Ultra-HD, 1080p, or something that is up-scaled like Casablanca.
If you're looking to connect your PC to it, the TV serves as a fantastic monitor. I've set up a screen cast between my TV and PC, and I love drawing on such a giant display.
As far as the interface and sound on the TV goes, I don't have much to say for either. I use my consoles for any app use and I use a soundbar or a headset for any audio output. The TV sound was used for maybe 5minutes, seemed fine to me but it wasn't anything special. If you need really nice sound on your TV, perhaps look elsewhere.
Overall, with the full array 4k display and versatility of the TV, it's exactly what I was looking for, has blown my expectations out of the park, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Sony has done a great job with all of their 2017 TV’s. The x900e is probably the best value across their line of high end panels. It has all the right features and tremendous picture quality. The blacks are deep and the colors are amazing. It has the typical android interface but I am used to that with other devices so no problems. It is fairly responsive but you can improve the speed with some tweaks in the pro settings. After that it runs fine for those who use the apps off the tv. I personally use my Nvidia Shield to run my apps. Out of the box, the picture is great. If you choose to tweak your settings, there are plenty of ways to adjust it to your liking. There are some great YouTube videos that will walk you through it. I am not an avid gamer so I cannot speak in terms of gaming. It is however great for Movies and TV shows as well as streaming. It does a formidable job of upscaling lower quality content. It does not have and will not (according to Sony)get a Dolby Vision upgrade. This should not deter you from this great TV. True Dolby Vision needs a 12 bit panel which is a few years away so basically you are getting a dumbed down version of it anyway. And all movies are in HDR 10. Dolby Vision is an added layer on top of HDR 10. Honestly my eyes cannot see the difference as it is very small. Anyone saying otherwise is not be truthful. But it’s your money, so do what you like. I am not a Sony fanboy as I have only owned Samsung & Vizio TV’s which I also liked very much. Check it out for yourself. You might just like it.

Sony's 900E TV's offer an excellent combination of picture quality and features. The 55" set is probably the best value in TV's right now, especially if you're able to get it at the sale price. At that price point, there really aren't any other TV's that can compete with it on features or picture quality. The fact that it's also a 55" panel makes it a clear stand-out.
You CAN use this TV with out-of-the-box settings and will probably like it. But, having the settings calibrated makes the overall quality MUCH better. If you're not used to watching a calibrated screen, the settings will take a short bit of getting used to (mostly because the white gets color-corrected to be true - sort of like when you see a car at night that looks like it has blue headlights, then they look white when you look again - your brain adjusts what it considers white after a little time). Once you see the color space correctly and your brain is no longer telling you that it doesn't look right, you will appreciate just how good the images look.
Keep in mind that you can't be feeding a poor quality picture signal to any TV and expect the TV to make it better. Your input quality needs to be good to start with. Any of the various satellite and cable systems out there that are providing you with a 1080 picture will look really good. 4K antenna-based images will also look really good. Streaming content in 4K with HDR will look excellent. A UHD BluRay player with HDR playing 4K/HDR movies will also look excellent.
