Bought this to replace a broken 50 inch Samsung Plasma. I never did like the unnatural look of the LCD Tvs, they had that "soap opera " affect. The LCD and older generation LEDs could not keep up with fast motion or do blacks like plasma. On the other hand plasmas did have the "burn in " problem which kept me from playing video games on them . This Sony has became a hybrid of all that I liked about plasma and what is good about LCD / LED. It took about a week of "tweaking " and breaking in until I hit the "sweet spot". The picture has the most clarity of any tv I have ever owned due to its 4K UHD and high pixel count. It also has a fast processor which helps take care of motion blur in fast motion situations. The blacks are quite good too. The led lighting is very uniform so there is no dark spots. This tv rocks!! The only downfall is the sound which holds true for every flat screen I ever owned, can't get good sound out of that slim box I guess, so I use a sound bar. The icing on the cake was it let me zoom blue ray to get rid of those black bars I hate so much,at least on Rogue One,I'm sure on other movies as well. I paid $1,500 for 55 inch and I want to fill the whole screen. Buy this s tv.

If you’re questioning buying this TV or thinking about getting a lesser model, STOP right now. Buy this TV, once you get it all set up and calibrated to your liking you will NOT regret it. My first 4K tv and I am blown away at the uniformity of the colors, the balance and the 4K HDR capabilities. So many other features to mention but not enough time. I bought a PS4 Pro just for this and I love both purchases.

Absolutely love it! All I had to do was plug it In, hook up a few HDMI cables and I was off to the races. I recently purchased Apple TV 4K to stream media. When I enabled the HDR feature the TV produces pictures that really are truly life like. There are tons of video adjustments that can be used to fine tune your picture prefs. The IR port actually worked and controls my STB. This is a BUY!

I've owned the Sony XBR55X900E for about a month now, and have nothing but excellent things to say about it. Admittedly, I use it as a display only, without any use of the smart features or built-in speakers. Though, speaking only on the the picture quality - it's absolutely superb, especially at this price range. 4K and HDR content look simply AMAZING on this TV, and you'd be hard-pressed to find better picture quality outside of an OLED, which puts you far above the price range of the SONY. Gaming is excellent, with minimum lag, assuming that you stay far, FAR away from the "Standard" picture mode when gaming. That mode is a large amount of post-processing that will add an egregious amount of input lag. However, using the Game or PC modes provides no perceptible lag at all to me. Overall, a truly fantastic TV, and I would highly recommend it to anyone!

We have always owned Sony products and this one tops them all. It not only delivers a high quality picture but is very relaxing to watch. We had a 20 year old 32” Trinitron before, that had outlived its self but was still in great working condition. Watching College football just became more enjoyable. No blurring with fast motion and the best color separation you can get. Go Sony, Go.

The TV so far is very good. Colors look great and blacks are inky black. Android TV is very easy to use. I researched many TV's before buying this one, and I'm happy I choose this one. TV can run at 120hz native which would be great for PC gaming.

Last year I purchased the 49" Sony 4k UHD Smart TV which has a very nice picture but did not have HDR at the time. After much research I purchased this new 55" 4k UHD Smart TV w/HDR. It has unbelievable picture quality and the sound is much improved. I recommend anyone thinking about buying a 4k TV to spend the extra money on the Sony 4k UHD TVs that have the HDR. You won't regret it.

Great deal for a 55" mid-range 4k TV. For a few hundred dollars more over the x800e you can step out of the entry level 4k models and experience true HDR. The colors are vibrant on this television, it has a 120HZ native motion rate up to 240HZ with the motion feature turned on. The blacks are rich and deep as opposed to the x800e and generally don't wash out. The set also has better upscaling than the aforementioned model. My only complaints are that it's hard to tell when HDR is on because there is no notification and the Android TV interface, while rich with content, does seem to be a bit laggy. Overall great value.

I've owned four different HDTV's and this one is definitely the best. Picture is great, HDR gaming looks amazing and the built in Chromecast makes streaming from my laptop a breeze. The Android TV operating system was a bit sluggish at first, slow response time on menus and from controller input, but after a couple updates that was a thing of the past. Very happy with my purchase.

I was looking at this TV or the Vizio P series. It was no contest once I viewed them in person. Since most of what I watch is through cable, I wanted the better upscale. Sony doesn’t disappoint, the others meh. The picture is bright, colorful and clear. I have not noticed any motion blur or tearing. The only downside to this tv are the speakers, fixed that with a sound at.

The picture is awesome. The colors are incredible. It does black as good as the plasma this is replacing. Not impressed with the internet features but whatever, I can do that through nearly every device I have connected to it. It has all the internet features I just found the menus to be dated.

The display quality is excellent. It is the perfect size for my fireplace mantle and room dimensions of 16' X 20'. Easy set up and the best stand I've seen for a 55" TV. Without question the best UHD TV I could find for the money after a lot of research and speaking with an extremely knowledgeable sales associate. I recommend a good sound bar for a total package.

This is hands down 2017's best LCD TV.It easily outperforms its nearest competitor in terms of color, depth and performance. Given the price point that this sits at is even more impressive. Sony hit this one out of the park, as this set looks better then the higher end x930e and any LCD Samsung has this year. Important facts for this set are that this is a full 10bit HDR panel with wide color gamut, features a full array local dimming panel (makes individual spots in the picture brighter to simulate real life) and likely the best part of these two combined features is the fact that the TV is backlit not side lit like almost all LCDs on the market today, this is important for accurately reproducing color by lighting the LCD pixels from behind the screen rather then from a LED array around the outside of the screen. Words do not do this set justice, buy it and you won't be sorry. If I have to nit pick about one thing its that the speakers in the TV are pretty weak and get tinny and distorted when the volume is put up but thats the nature of these ultra thin tvs from any manufacturer, you need a sound bar. Also I recommend doing a bit of online research to calibrate the TV, the out of the box settings are not ideal and the picture quality will not be up to par.

This is the second Sony we bought in the past two years. The first one was for me and this one for my wife. Very satisfied with both as I would expect for Sony. I'm actually a little jealous because the picture on this one is better than mine. I think it's the HDR. Highly recommend!

Read a lot of reviews online about different 4K TV’s, particularly ones aimed towards usage with the Xbox One X. All the review sites listed this TV as the best mid-range 4K TV on the market. Unboxed played some demo 4K videos on YouTube and was pretty blown away with the picture quality. The blacks get pretty black, even not being OLED. Would recommend!

Read the reviews, do the research, and pick this gem up. If you have a PS4 Pro then don’t hesitate to purchase this. The games look incredible and it’s the closest to OLED you are going to get. The Full Array is gorgeous, textures, brightness, even deep blacks. Some in-depth calibration tinkering and you will be amazed by the capabilities this possesses.

I love this tv. I researched for many months to decide on which tv to get. It was between thie Sony xbr900e and the Samsung mu9000 which has very similar specs according to rtings.com. But, because I watch a lot of sports and enjoy gaming on my Xbox one I chose the Sony (have a 46" Sony 1080p which this tv is replacing). I recommend watching some youtube videos to get some calibration specs to decide which settings are best for your room/viewing type. This tv is bright and some settings had me changing the brightness to max which was way too bright. I have this in a very dark room (I prefer my man room that way) which is the way I prefer to watch anything like I am at the movies. I have had several people comment how great the picture is and with my 7.2 truehd sound it is like being at the movies. I highly recommend. Sony had not disappointed me at all and at the price point I purchased it at $999 on sale, it was the best bang for the buck! On a side note. When you initially hook this tv up it will do updates since it is an Android Tv. Allow yourself at least 1 hour to update! You can also choose to turn off several apps that are preloaded (bloatware just like on an Android phone) so that the Android software runs smoother.

I have used this TV in a brightly lit room now for 3 months. The picture is great, and is plenty bright even when sun is streaming in nearby windows. We use the smart TV features for amazon and netflix and they work well. I tried the TV's speakers once, and they are not very good. Normally, I use a receiver and separate speakers. I would purchase again.
