This is really upsetting to have a bunch of dark spots show up after only 8 months of use. See photo. I've contacted Sony about this and shared the exact same photo. They replied that the TV "is operating within manufacturer specs." I had this issue escalated after receiving this absurd response. Then, they came right back and said the same "within specs" thing. You won't even see these dark spots show up on cheaper TVs yet they are saying that this is to be expected? I understand that uniformity issues can happen. But, not to this degree and to the point where Sony doesn't think it's an issue. Turns out that Sony isn't really as quality of a brand as I expected. I am really questioning why I paid a premium for this TV when the quality is that of a $200 TV. Do your research before you invest in this TV. I'm finding all sorts of issues after purchasing and I would have stayed away otherwise.

This tv is the worst I have ever bought. After 1 year and 2 months, right after the warranty expired, black spots started appearing all around the edges of the screen. They look like dust/dirt spots but are inside the screen. This is a $1000. Tv and only lasts a year!! I trusted the Sony name but boy was I mistaken

I waited for this TV to come out and was deciding between this and the LG B9. This Sony was $200 off and Best Buy offered a $30 gift card when I purchased it. I also like how much value this has as it will receive HDMI 2.1 after a firmware update. HDMI 2.1 will be great for those purchasing the PlayStation 5 with its support for 4K at 120fps. It also has ATSC 3.0. Until broadcasters start broadcasting in 4K, this futureproofs this TV as the B9 does not have ATSC 3.0. I came from a cheap Black Friday Samsung smart TV I bought years ago. The picture quality is more realistic as my Samsung had oversaturated colors. I like how you can change the picture modes for each device you use and/or apps on the TV. It also detects a video game console and automatically switches to game mode. I watched Our Planet on Netflix (Ultra HD) and was amazed with Dolby Vision. The picture quality is so lifelike and realistic! Black levels are excellent most of the time. There were a couple of times I saw a bit of blooming but this is expected from a LCD compared to perfect black levels from OLEDs. My only nitpick is changing channels as the font is tiny. Perhaps I can change this in my settings. I will have to check.

Ok so my Samsung LCD TV was in need of replacing, it was 13 years old (OUCH), had lines down each side and looked a bit dated. After researching what to get on a new TV (ie HDMI 2.1, HDCP 2.3, etc) I decided on the x900h. At first I was disappointed in the picture quality, I was using an old AppleTV HD box with some old Monster high speed cables and I had made some adjustments to the picture and it had the “soap opera” effect, so much so that I could barely stand to watch it. I bought new cable (blue jean cables) that said the could handle most anything unfortunately they could not handle 1k very well much less 4K and looked worse than the Monster cables. I then bought an new AppleTV 4K player and it looked much better (newer video hardware, I assume). Then I upgraded my cables again and it came to life. I chose 4K SDR/4:4:4 and match dynamic range and frame rate on the AppleTV 4K. I chose the default (after trying many different things) setting of “Standard” on the TV and setting “Dynamic Contrast” to “Low”. I set HDMI 3 to “Enhanced” (Apple TV 4K is plugged into HDMI 3) and tested it with everything from old black and white 4:3 shows to current 16.9 shows/movies and it looks excellent. Now for the bad. Sony (Android) put out a new firmware update and it has at least one problem. If you research this you will find others with this problem. Depending on what your doing on the TV, it will “freeze” and then “reboot”. It has happened to me twice in 2 weeks and both times I was making changes using the onboard menu. Both times I was in a different menu. I’m not concerned about it because when we say “I bought a new TV” what we are really saying is “I bought a new computer with a monitor attached” because that’s about what it is. I own many Apple products which I like but they put out buggy software just like everybody else and they also fix that software and I expect Sony (Android) will do the same.

      Hi HomeBoy,

We appreciate your in-depth review of the TV. Good to know that you like its picture quality. It's unfortunate that the TV is rebooting by itself after the update. This issue is under investigation and we are diligently working to provide a resolution. In the meantime, here are some steps which may temporarily fix the issue:

      1. If you are using an HDMI cable to connect a device to your TV, make sure it is a Certified Premium HDMI cable with a length of 6 feet or less. Skip this step if you don’t have one available.

      2. Set the RS232C control to Via serial port. Note: This setting may affect the power consumption of the TV. On the remote control, press the HOME button. Select Settings → Remotes & Accessories → Via serial port.

Note: If this step does not resolve the issue, change this back to the original setting before continuing.

      3. Perform a reset on the TV:

Tv has stunning color and blacks. Very little to none blooming. Tv mounting and installation was very easy. Tv when unboxing was protected very well by numerous screen protectors. Sports looks great as well as video games . Supports hdmi 2.1 120hz with most recent sony firmware update. Great tv . Only downfall is the update is not available in all locations so you might have to download from sony website and manually update your tv. Or you can just wait for it to hit ur location .

I've had this TV for almost 2 years now and it's been great. OS is very responsive and it rarely stutters. Gets updates pretty frequently and the quality is great. Blacks look black and all the colors really pop. I'm sure there's a lot more color calibration that can be done but I think it's already great. I did turn off the "energy saving" option, the light sensor has been turned off as well and set brightness to the highest level and it looks amazing.

After trying the X750H, I was very disappointed with the picture quality especially when watching Hockey. The motion blur was terrible. So I sent that one back and got this TV and I LOVE this TV. It may not be an OLED BUT it is still very crisp, motion blur is much better, and color saturation is very deep! If you're looking for the best TV that is $1,000 or less this is the TV for you! Another thing to consider is that the width of the TV stand is ample to put most soundbars under it. Only complaint I have against the the TV is that it is a bit wobbly but not terribly. Overall this a great TV and you will not be disappointed with it!

LED TVs have come a long way. This TV is replacing my older sony 2014 model. What I'm most impressed by is the darkness and brightness levels it produces and how vibrant and sharp images/videos look (even on factory settings). Sure it isn't an OLED TV where you get true dark colors but for an LED TV, this is one of the best LED TVs that has the best levels of darkness. I was considering getting the OLED but this LED satisfied me in terms of the darkness levels I was looking for and sort of preferred the more vibrant/brightness that LED TVs gave. Gaming looks excellent and is ready for the PS5 after updating the firmware and getting the needed HDMI 2.1 that supports 4K at 120hz. Sony TVs have always impressed me and continue to do so.

I absolutely love this TV! This is my first ever 4k TV ever and it's absolutely gorgeous. The colors and overall picture is breathtaking. The reason I'm giving it 4/5 is not the fault of the retailer but the manufacturer itself. See I got a Xbox Series X and was looking for the perfect TV that's not an OLED (video game burn in). Sony's marketing team was pushing this model as the perfect PS5 TV due to the HDMI 2.1 that they firmware upgraded and we're suppose to add VRR (variable refresh rate) as well but I read a few articles that Sony is retracting the addition of VRR which is disappointing but not a complete deal breaker. My only guess is the hardware isn't compatible so there might be an updated model in the future? Still worth the price though!

Overall a great TV. High quality HDR picture especially for built in apps like Netflix. Supports 4K 120 fps so its perfect for gaming as well. Home screen is easy to use and there are plenty of apps to make use of. There was is one big issue. Do not install the Tune In radio app. It was causes major issues with with the audio. I returned two TVs before I figured out the problem. But once I uninstalled that app, everything was fine. I definitely recommend as long as you don't want the Tune In radio app.

Once you dial down the settings correctly you will get inky blacks on this awesome set. Virtually no blooming or halo effects. If you want better off axis viewing get H950. But if you are generally seated in front of the TV this has better black levels and less blooming. Labeled as mid tier, but has all the future proof features Sony could offer to gamers and the picture quality almost rivals oleds.
