This replaced a 2017 W650D 48 inch Bravia. The difference was literally night and day. Besides the obvious resolution an processor upgrade, local dimming, much better contrast and black levels and a slew of other whiz-bang features I was also impressed with the audio, which was much fuller at lower volume levels than the previous 48. I'd really had my heart set on an OLED, but was concerned about inherent burn-in. It's in my bedroom, where viewing distance is about 12 feet. The only wrinkle is that it doesn't play nice with DirecTV, but neither did the older one. Sony hasn't produced a DTV-ready set since 2016. About 3 times out of 10 power-ons there are "No input detected" messages on screen. It's frustrating to have to keep messing with the DTV remote's on/off buttons but I'm eventually able to watch and enjoy a show or movie. That aside, I'm very pleased with my purchase.

Outstanding TV. Recently cut the cord and looked for a do it all TV. This fit the bill. Outstanding HDR, realistic blacks, and the menus for flipping between apps is simple. And unlike most Sony TVs, this one is built with Apple Airplay2. I’m using AppleTV+, Disney+, Amazon, Netflix, and YoutubeTV. All work perfectly—4K never looked so good. The sound of the TVs speakers is okay—but, better than 99% of TVs. Paired it with a Sony sound bar 3.1 setup to really make it sing. The Ultra slim bezel helps to give it a beautiful design and look. The Amazon Alexa integration is a nice touch and works well. After 3 weeks, I can say this is an outstanding TV that I would buy again.

I've been playing with the X950G 65" for a month now, and I absolutely love it. I was replacing a 1st generation 65" X900A 4k TV - and the difference is mind blowing. Watching Dolby Vision and HDR content on this TV (both streaming and 4k UHD) is a truly epic experience. A lot of reviews mention blooming on the black bars of a movie when watching HDR / Dolby vision content - but this can be all but eliminated by during off "Advanced Contrast Enhancer" in the settings. The TV has the latest X1 Ultimate processor only found otherwise in the X9G OLED. I recommend this TV if you're afraid of OLED burn-in like I am, and dont want to risk $2500+ on a set that your kids might ruin. :)

My husband purchased the Sony 55” for birthday after exchanging the Samsung Q60. I did not like the Q60’s picture quality. I always wanted a Samsung tv but the Sony already had an advantage. I bought the 65” X950G for the family family room two months before my birthday. I am truly happy with my Sony tv. However, I must mention that the whole story wasn’t all sunshine and rainbows in the beginning of my purchase. I chose a open box Sony X950G at a good price. I’ve purchased open box items in the past from Best Buy and never had a bad experience until the events after my husband purchased the Sony tv. The employee placed the tv on a cart and took the tv to customer service for us to exchange it. After my husband purchased the tv no one offered to take the tv to our car. My husband rolls the tv to the front door and the tv falls off the cart. The bottom right side of the screen is cracked! I go back to customer service to ask for a manager. I speak with Ray who is the assistant manager. Ray informs me that there is nothing he can do and I could call Best Buy’s 800 number. It did not matter that the employee did not secure the tv on the cart or it was my birthday. He was not willing to help. Nor was Ray willing to look at the video. Ray tells me that after purchasing the tv he could not take the tv back. Ray also stated that it did not matter if I was still in the store or not I was not able to return the tv. Ray was telling me all of this while I’m standing there crying and pleading for him to look at the video. The next day I called the corporate office because customer service was not able to help. I called 8 times because I was told that if I didn’t buy the tv online they were not able to help me. I finally spoke with Carla in the executive resolution department. Carla was willing to listen and help. Carla emailed the store manager. Two days later my guardian angel Scott calls me while I’m in the process of walking into Best Buy to speak with a manager. Scott is also a manager. Scott tells me to bring the tv back tomorrow and he would work it out. The next day I walk out of Best Buy with my new sealed in the box Sony tv. I thank Scott for all of his help. Scott informs me that it wasn’t a problem and that he reviewed the video. Scott explained to me that the tv was not placed on the cart securely and there is a slight hump in the floor close to the door. Scott also informed me that once the cart rolled over the hump that’s when the tv fell off the cart. The hump isn’t visible because it is covered by carpet. Scott stated that it was only right to give me a new tv. I advise anyone that if you ever make a purchase and have an issue to please ask for Scott to help you resolve the issue. Thank you Scott from Best Buy Store #294 ( Spartanburg, SC)!!

An excellent implementation of Android TV with Google assistant. It's lightning quick with apps. Switching between OTA and Netflix is easy and fast, the voice remote is hardy and rather intuitive. Where you get the extra squeeze at this price point is in picture accuracy. HDR content is vibrant but not cartoonish, and the processing is done beautifully. A rare occurrence of inaccurate colors happen with some sources, like streaming on Amazon. With some time, the TV allows for source specific picture settings. If you can indulge, this line is fabulous for a bright room experience.

Love it! I have swore by Samsung for years. I have 6 Samsung TVs from mid level to the Q series, the guy at Best Buy convinced me to try this instead of the Q70 series Samsung. I’m so glad he did!! I can’t stop staring at it, the picture is perfect. Also I no longer need a fire stick to use the apps I stream with. I use EPB FiTV app and Philo, on my Samsung I have to use a fire stick for those. The smart side of this Tv is leaps and bounds better than any of my Samsung TVs. I never thought I would switch but glad I did.

The Sony 55’ 950G so far has been an excellent TV. The picture can be adjusted to be optimal in any light. It has multiple HDMI and USB inputs. The built-in speakers are surprisingly good. The included stand is stable and easily attached. The remote also surprised us - it is a brushed metal, not the hard plastic ones of every other TV we have owned. The only complaint would be the reflection of any light source (lamp or window) that can make it hard to see in places. I would highly recommend this TV

This TV is the most responsive I've ever used. Switching apps feels quick and crisp. Speaking of apps, you have many options thanks to the android operating system. I don't even use my roku stick anymore freeing up hdmi slots. Picture is great and if I can figure out all the picture options I'm sure I could make it look even better. Speakers are OK but not great, I'd use a soundbar or a surround sound system.

After countless hours of research I landed on the 950g to upgrade my 9yo Sony 810 series tv. I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The picture quality is outstanding! 4K Dolby Vision is almost unbelievable. Setup and install was straight forward with no major hiccups. While I use my Appletv 4K for all my streaming needs, I did try out the Android OS built in and found it to be very capable and easy to use. Best tv for the price point without jumping up to the OLED’s.

Let me preface by saying I am a Sony guy but do not rush out and upgrade every time a new tv comes out, This is replacing a 10yr old Zseries which still works and I love. I buy tvs based on performance for the $$. This has the Z9 oled processor and is alot less than that tv. Picture out of box is solid but I had to turn down some brightness and contrast for my room. As with any good tv the source is everything. Regular blue ray look amazing. OTA signal is great and I have fios with a tivo and pic quality is superb on stations with good hd feed. Only thing took some adjustment is the sound settings. The back side tweeters need more power to drive the vocal dialog on screen or it sounds hollow, echoed or canned. I messed around with these to get what I wanted from the tv speakers. I ended up turning down all surround effects and maxing the dialog volume and played with the equalizer to get a well rounded sound that wasnt hollow or canned. I have an old school home theatre set up for movies which is great. I may look into the Sony soundbar for everyday use if I dont like the speaker settings as I have them. Thing is I was looking forward to this speaker technology based on the write up but did not like it at all but thats me. I am loyal to Sony TVs, I like the way their pic quality and smoothness. Samsung processor gives me headaches. While Vizio and TCL and LG are making strides I always go with Sony for the fact that they been at it the longest and they do a nice job of giving you options based on your budget. My theory is buy the best processor your budget allows. The android OS is smooth and loads everything fast. No complaints from me on that. I feel as this tv breaks in I will like it even more. For the extra $$ over some tvs in this class is well worth it.

Love the picture, sound is pretty decent for a slim flat screen but a picture like this craves surround sound. Remote control very easy to work and cable box was easy to sync up. App access very simple but slightly disappointed I could not get “Discovery Go”. Other than that this TV is great and I would not hesitate to recommend it to anyone!

When it is time to upgrade my TV, I decided to back to SONY again. I have to agree that I spent some time playing around the set-up/connections and how to sync other devices into this smart TV. I have read a few reviews before the purchase; many reviewers expressed the concern of set up complexities. I do agree with these reviewers, it took me about two-ish days to familiarize myself with the setting and the SONY remote control. My quick conclusion is once you have everything figure out, The SONY remote control can almost control all your devices, and it also came with voice control (via Google). First, let's see what SONY smart app provides (pre-installed Apps came with YouTube, Diseny+, HBO, Hulu, and Sony's entertainment app, & many others). If you already have Apple TV, some of the app functions may be overlapped. Second, The TV came with a 3+1 HDMI connection ports. If you don't plan to surround sound system, you got 4 HDMI, but if you want to incorporate the surrounding sound system into the TV, there is one dedicated HDMI outlet that will sync and work with your TV. Third, an optional recommendation; your HDMI cables, since you have already decided to spend money for a 4K TV, a new 4K specific HDMI cable is highly recommended although some said you couldn't tell by nake eyes. However, the transmission refresh rate may impact the quality of images and sounds.

I originally purchased the Samsung QLED Q80 series but before my delivery came I went back to Best Buy to exchange it for this Sony 950 series. I have always had Samsung TV's, but after doing some researching online I decided to go with the Sony because it sounded like the picture quality was much better. Now at first, I did not like it at all, it was not as beautiful as my last TV, picture was grainy and white balance was way too bright and peoples skin tones were to blue no matter what I did to fix it, it took me many days to get the picture looking somewhat doable, but still it seamed every channel I changed it to had to be readjusted in which makes no sense. I ended up purchasing new/better 4K HDMI cables and it made a big difference, had to do some more adjusting to the picture, but now it looks great, a whole lot better then before, most channels look terrific without having to do any tweeking. White balances look great now, picture is crisp and skin tones look like they should. Turned out to be a very nice TV.
