How can it get better?
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I actually decided on this TV for its size. While I definitely liked the picture on Sony's Z9F better, at the time I owned a 49" TV (Sony X800D) which I have relocated within my space several times and moved with twice- I wanted something bigger but I needed something I can move without help. The smallest Z9F was 65" and there was no way (I'm small and not strong). I felt that the 950H's enhanced color range, full array backlighting, 120Hz refresh rate, and Dolby Vision HDR in conjunction with the same series processor that's in the Z9F made this well worth the price, so I took the plunge. When I initially set it up, I have to admit that I was not all that impressed with it. First of all, Sony has really dumbed down the settings for color, contrast, and motion which were some of my favorite features on the 800D. I got them "close-ish" to where I wanted them (definitely took less time than fine tuning the 800D) and started watching. The difference was immediately noticeable- the first two things I watched were The Force Awakens on Disney+ and The Witcher on Netflix. These met my expectations with improved detail on color array, variance and depth of black levels, and motion clarity. Then I fired up my PS4 Pro and popped in the FFVII remake. Holy. Cow. The step up to the 55" from the 49" definitely makes gaming in my space more immersive, but the color, the motion, the contrast... there was a massive, massive difference between this TV and everything else I've connected my PS4 to: the 800D, a Sony 930E, Sony 900F, LG E6 OLED, and a Vizio M series. I realize that this is not one of the models that Sony verified as "Ready for PS5", but its stats certainly doon't eliminate the possibility of the same firmware upgrade that the 900H is eligible for- and from what I understand, it is the upgrade that gets the TV on that list. I've had mine for about two months now and I don't have one negative thing to say about it. In all, this is a superb TV that has really impressed me and I feel it's worth every penny.

What happened to quality control?

Simply excellent !
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I just returned the TV LG 55 B9 OLED because the image was too smooth and the black tones, lacked detail. I couldn't, despite trying many ways, make the image sharper and get details in the black tones. I decided to go back to an LED TV and buy the new 55 inch Sony X950H. I don't regret it at all. I am a photographer and have always used the zones to take my pictures. For those who don't know, the zones range from 'zero' (all black with no detail) to 10 (all white with no detail) with the number 5 being the grey with an 18 percent tone. The recently returned LG 55 B9 TV always used zero when the scene was black and that's not exactly how our human eye really sees tones. Even if we see black, there will always be detail, unless we are in a completely dark room and that was the feeling I had when I saw the images of the LG 55 B9. The Sony X950H TV, presents black tones in an excellent way, close to how an OLED TV can present them but I would say closer to how the human eye really sees black tones. I don't like to see a person wearing a black suit with no detail and that's what I saw in the LG but I don't see it in the Sony. Other than that, I only had to make a couple of changes to get the image quality that I like. Out of the box, this Sony TV is excellent and again, with a few changes, you get the picture you want.The image quality is excellent. The base on which the TV rests can be adjusted if you don't have a very large table. If the TV is placed within 1-2 feet ( maximum ) of the back wall, the sound will bounce off the wall and surround the room and you will get a sound that is quite close to surround sound. The sound is as if it were coming from the center of the TV, passing through both sides and reaching the viewer's ear. This is something I have never heard before and as I said before, only with a good sound bar you can get a better sound. Best Buy made the home delivery completely free and two days after buying the TV. Great job! Although the price of this TV is not so low but it is accessible, I think it is a price for what you get, considering that if a person does not have extra to buy a sound bar, anyway he/she will get an excellent sound, excellent image quality and there will be no distortion in the fast images because simply the TV's motion processor, handles this in an excellent way. Watching this TV from any angle, it does not loose image quality. You can sit down anywhere and you will get the same. No color fading, no contrast fading and the same quality of sound as well. I haven't browsed any applications because I just don't use them, so I can't give my opinion on that. But, the settings are easily accessible without reading a manual. To know how this TV handles black tones, I put the movie The Hobbit : the desolation of Smaug ! Before the dwarves enter the Elf forest, some horses with black and white spots appear. It's really beautiful how the TV handles black tones. When they enter the Elf forest, the spiders have black colours and it is absolutely fantastic how you get the contrast between the blacks and the other colours. I can't say enough about the image quality that you get with this TV and that's why I recommend it and give it 5 stars in the review I'm doing. I have only watched it for about 2 hours and I am very satisfied. I will update this review with my personal settings once I write down everything I did. I do not use my TV to play games because I do have a great computer with the Nvidia 2080Ti video card and an excellent monitor but I do not have any doubt that playing a game in this TV, will be simply amazing. Regarding TV broadcast image quality, I simply do not care that much because not all the channels broadcast in high definition and I do not watch movies unless I use my PS4, however, TV broadcast in high definition is great.

Could be better for the price.

Plus lack of Dolby Vision? Really, Sony? I would save up close to one or two binder more and get the LG CX OLED as that set is what I ended up with and it’s superior to it at such a close price point.

Terrible for streaming and Roku and sound

Lag between audio and video (lips are not synched). I missed the return period by a week or this would go back. If you are using cable it is ok, but still has sounds problems.

delivery person never showed up

Despite a set appointment and emails from best buy that our driver, Martin was on his way, NO ONE EVER SHOWED UP NO ONE CALLED TO SAY THE INSTALLER WAS NOT COMING BRUTAL BRUUUUUUUUUTAL So we canceled the order! If you connect the device to the TV headphone jack, the HDMI ports, or through Bluetooth, the TV can't output sound from both the TV speakers and the audio device at the same time. However, if you have an Audio system and want to output sound from both the headphones and an audio system, you may connect the headphones to the TV headphone jack and your audio system to the DIGITAL AUDIO OUT of the TV.
