We have bought several smaller televisions for the teachers to use in their classrooms. I was a little hesitant to invest in a large one, since we don't have cable at the school. However, this has been one of the BEST investments in technology that we have made! We use it almost every day! We do have wireless internet, so we can do all kinds of things with whole classes watching. Plus, the preschoolers LOVE watching their favorite videos on the big screen--which we only do on rainy days when we can't go outside for recess. When we used the 42-inch televisions, they got bored quickly, but with the big screen, they will sit for the entire recess time (30 minutes). We can also video their special performances and show them to the children. (From a smart phone, YouTube, or a flash drive!) I have a different brand of smart television at home, and this Sony is much easier to use!

Was hesitant about the android format, but it actually works well. Updates are easy and automatic, and faster than I expected. People gave negative reviews on the updates, I think it may have been their internet and not the tv. I have a smart plasma tv, but it was slow streaming directly through the tv, so I used both an Apple TV or fire tv, at given times and had much better results. So I thought I was going to hook up a streamer to this Sony because I hate slow load times, but was pleasantly surprised on how fast the tv loads and streams Hulu, Netflix, you tube and so on. I am using the tv alone, no boxes, and it's working great in our living room. Picture is good, my plasma tv is a little crisper, but the Sony has less reflection. Both are 1080i. Remote is standard, easy to figure out. I have a Sonos play bar/subwoofer which works fine, though sometimes it gets out of sink with the volume levels of the tv. As in when turning it up sometimes it doesn't send the info to the play at so the volume goes to 30 or so, when I normally watch around 10, I reset it by turning the volume down, then turn the tv off and on, it then sinks at the correct lower levels. Only other negative is when watching Hulu, and a commercial comes on, it has frozen up, I researched and many others have the same problem, and not just with Sony tvs, so it's some type of comminication with Hulu and the tv. This has happened twice in about a month now, and I can go out and use every other app, it's just Hulu is froze. And you need to unplug and reboot to reset this. I assume Hulu can fix this with some communication update. Bottom line, if your looking for a big tv that can stand alone and stream all with no boxes, cable, satellite, and like using only 1 remote, this is a great buy and you will love this tv.

When you first turn tv on, you are asked for google account, netflix account, some privacy agreements(although you can choose to not send private data), then your choose default tv input setting. Which is important, because the TV button is important on the remote . What you choose here is the input where the TV button will go. Although this can be changed later. Negatives first are... Interface - a lot of little annoyances , like to exit out of the settings, you have to select 'TV' or 'input' and choose the input. It forgets what input you are at so you have to re-select input to get out of the main 'menu'. When you go into an app, trying to navigate either back to the main menu or just back to what you watching is not the most intuitive. Also, after a couple of updates, I finally found an Opera browser. although, the interface for moving the pointer is clumsy for that too. 'Action menu' - is nice when it is consistent. You never know what options you will see in the Action menu. Sometimes 3D is there, other times it is not. 3D - does not come with glasses. but I bought Sony's active 3D TDG-BT400A and they work great. And the 3D picture looks great. 3D does not work automatically, you have to select 'turn on 3d' option from 'settings'. Then choose side by side or top and bottom. You can go into the YouTube app and play one of those types of 3D movies . There are some annoyances here too because it doesn't automatically switch on and off 3D when you want. The TV appears to be designed to auto detect only hard-wired inputs for 3D like a player . did not recognize 3D from on-demand, screen mirror, or from apps. You have to tell it. Android apps - I think is overrated, because it is limited. Although, having an Opera browser is awesome. inputs - would be nice to have another component video input. Wall - mounting - Tricky. the holes aren't that deep and you need a metric M6. The mounting holes are on the bottom half and the back rounds out. So, I had to buy longer screws then what came with the Lebrand Wall mounting kit that Best buy sells. Because I wanted easy access to the back for the inputs I splurged and bought the expensive kit. I bought 40mm long and used some extra washers in order to have the screw go between 8mm - 12mm into the tv , like the Sony manual says. The screws that came with that kit were just a smidgen short with the spacers. I used the spacers because of the irregular back. just a fraction shy or right at 8mm. I didn't feel safe about that, so I improvised with my own screws / washers. although I did use the spacers. Really it is the same thing as the kit except I used some extra washers. With the thinner TVs, I assume they can't make screw holes that deep. but maybe they can place them in a flatter area of the back. Positives - 65" ! great size. perfect size. HD picture - sports Screen mirroring - flat out the next best feature. (if you have a smart phone with this ability) Updates - Although I do not like doing updates, because I know any change could mess something up. I've done it twice and never had a problem. And the updates did fix a sound issue I was having. I wasn't getting sound from the on-board speakers. So this is why I knock it down a star. although, it works after the update, it scares me... Sound - good, but the volume of the TV has to be cranked up. I have sound system hooked up , I recommend that. Although, there is a delay between the optical out for sound and the sound for the TV, so you have to turn down one or the other, unless you like audio sounding like a stadium. wifi / ethernet - solid. Can set things you want. Can see hardware details you need to see. Automatically switches to Bluray input when receiver turned on. pretty standard stuff screen mirroring, hdtv, 3d, wifi, apps... fulfills any of my needs. This Tv replaced an older samsung hdtv. The samsung didn't last as long as I'd like before the picture started going. However, the samsung overall was more user friendly. with every imaginable kind of input, remote was better, interface to navigate was solid. although I sound negative, I just wanted to help others out with using the TV. Overall, I LOVE having this TV, and hope it lasts.

I bought the 65W850C because I wanted to replace an older Sony 52 inch set. Let me start out by saying that the 65W850C is a great set. However, if you are like me, and you find flaws with every TV set, you’ll still be satisfied with this model. Without going into too much reasoning on why I purchased a 1080P set instead of a 4K set for now, let me just say that I KNOW that I made the right decision. There are no 4K signals being sent over the air or through my cable provider. And, in my opinion, 4K streaming still leaves something to be desired in terms of overall video quality. Lastly, there is just not that much 4K content right now. When the NFL, NBA, and MLB start broadcasting in 4K, I’ll be the first in line for a new 4K set. LOL! The 65W850C has a great picture once the set is calibrated properly. It has lots of features and settings that any TV techie would be proud of. You can set the TV to your liking and watch your favorite shows in glorious HD. My set is tweaked to my liking and it still makes me smile each day that I watch! The set has a depth and richness to the colors that I do not see out of my other Sony sets. (60, 52, or 46 inches.) And I thought those sets were great! LOL! Size does matter, but Sony got this one right in terms of clarity, brightness and over picture satisfaction. And Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray are fantastic on my set. I could not be more satisfied with the picture. The Smart TV apps are cool, too. I enjoy the YouTube app the most. However, I will have to take a star off because of the off-axis viewing. You’ll have to pretty much sit in front of or near the center with this big boy. Washouts will happen if you are off to the side with most LCD’s, and this one is no exception. Also, there is some slight vertical banding on some solid colors, but it quickly disappears with a change in screen content. It really is not a distraction at all once you just enjoy the programs. Virtually ALL LCD sets will have this issue, so get used to it fast. Lastly, I do have to recommend a sound bar purchase with the set. The sound is not that great compared to my older sets. In other words, if you want some bass in the place, you’ll have to pay extra for it. The set has none because of the slim design. Overall, I am happy with the purchase. I think that you will be too. Thanks!

I started out with a Vizio 4k, which had a lot of issues. I returned it and instead purchased this Sony TV. Wow, what a great TV. The colors and picture quality are top notch. The 3D looks great too! I haven't messed with the android TV options too much yet, but what I tried worked well. Just a side note: If you are buying this TV to play video games on there is a bit of vertical banding. You get used to it after awhile. But most of the 2015 LED TV sets all have some form of banding issues. When watching movies or TV it is not as noticable. Don't worry about getting a 4K set for another 3 years or so. This looks just as good and I am satisfied with the purchase.

Had the tv for over 30 days now. So far I can't find anything to complain about. Honestly I don't know how a screen could look much better for under 1k. Live sports looks almost lifelike and video games look great on the screen with minimal motion blur. I'm playing uncharted 4 currently and I've never seen graphics looks so lovely on such a large screen. The tv comes with a live football mode that pretty much makes any blur whatsoever disappear. I've compared this tv to other samsungs and even some 4K models and I think this Sony blows them all away. I was loyal to Samsung for a long time but now I think I'm liking Sony a little more. All the smart tv stuff works and is pretty easy to navigate. I prefer using the ps4 has my entertainment hub so I don't use the wifi features much. All in all I would by this tv again and again delivered to the house for under 1k. Can't beat it!

I had some reservations about getting an android tv after reading the reviews here and some other sites, but I am glad I did now. It takes awhile to startup, not as bad as a windows computer but probably around 30-45 seconds. The picture is absolutely beautiful though. My only complaint is the manual on Sony's website for this TV is still a work in progress, so not everything is documented. One other negative feature is most of the HDMI connections are on the back, not easily accessible when wall mounted. There is one HDMI and one USB on the side though thankfully. I've had this TV for two months now with no problems.

Purchased this to replace a 60" Samsung TV. I wouldn't have gotten any benefits from a 4k set, since the TV would have been about 11 feet from my sofa and the 75" was not worth the $500 jump. So I settled on this 65" HDTV. So far, I'm not disappointed. The difference in quality is like night and day. Out of the box, the colors were already spectacular, I just had to tweak them a little bit. I hooked it up to my Xbox after that and am really satisfied with it. Would totally recommend to a friend.

The picture quality on this TV is outstanding. I cross shopped Vizio, Samsung, SHARP, and LG, but nothing in the 65" class combined the picture quality, smart tv interface, and physical build quality of this TV. Sony's video processing continues to stand at the top of the class and the panel is really great. I though smart tv functionality was dumb until I got this TV. It replaced an older Sony KDL46EX500, which had no smart functionality. I was content using a PS3 for Netflix and connecting a phone to my receiver for Pandora, etc. Not anymore. I LOVE having Netflix, Pandora, YouTube, etc all right on the TV. The best part is that the Android TV interface actually feels modern and smooth, unlike some of the interfaces made by the TV manufacturers. My only issue thus far has been that I had to reboot the TV once in the few months I've owned it because an app froze and would not respond to commands from the remote.

Awesome TV man features like the on board tv guide very fast scrolling. Like how the tv connects with many of my other Sony products eg phone, tablet, av receiver. Pros: big screen/google sync/play station on screen games/discover mode Cos: TV contrast for dark scenes not clear/colors are not as vivid as I'd like when it comes to brightness/bravia sync and optical sound randomly disconnect and puts the tv on mute/ hard to find the 3d glasses been 3weeks since ordering from bestbuy still not received/

I decided to buy 1080p TV rather than the 4K TV because I did not see the difference when viewing at 8-ft. distance. At BestBuy, I did not see this in their showroom, instead I went to Fry's Electronics and saw both models and compared side-by-side. I did not see any difference at all when the video source is 1080p. The picture is really excellent when picture adjustment was done right. The sound is also excellent when you're watching news and sports. When watching movies, I have already a home theater system that is hooked up. The 3D feature is also magnificent. I did not use the built-in apps because I already have AppleTV. Overall I'm truly satisfied with this TV.

I'm normally a Samsung and Apple kind of girl, but decided to do something different this time and it has definitely paid off! Absolutely love my new Sony...the picture quality is great! Feels like I'm in the room with the people on the screen! Haven't used the 3D function yet and don't use the Smart Hub that much since I have Apple TV...but the times I have used the Hub it worked perfectly. It was pretty cool to browse the Internet on the tv as well. Setup was easy and took less than 10 minutes...the screen prompts were very easy to follow. The sound quality is not the best so I recommend using with some sort of theater system (I also purchased a Sony sound bar). Makes a big difference!

The tv is good, I'm not impressed with the football viewing option, but it has a nice picture and setup was easy, but took a while to download and setup the updates. I upgraded size from a Sony 55 4K, but the tech seemed better in the 4K but content not readily available yet so went to 1080...don't use the 3D but salesman said it would be better tech for picture...decent still learning about it

Bought this on a special sale for $999. Picture is excellent. We have five other flat screens including a new Samsung 50 inch UHD TV less than one year old and the picture on this LED 1080 Sony is just as good as the UHD. Very pleased. We are not big techies with all the latest gadgets and are not concerned with trying to get the picture perfect. However, we wanted something with a large screen to watch fast action sports like football soccer baseball and basketball as well as hook up Xbox etc. The picture is great and no noticeable blur on motion. Would definitely recommend this tv. The four hdmi ports are great for all our devices. Set up was easy. The initial software update took about an hour but was not hard. Just had to wait it out.

I wanted a good quality picture on a TV to replace my 13 year old projection TV. I was not ready to spend the money for a 4K TV since the majority of my viewing is from cable and the occasional DVD. This TV has a very good quality picture as expected for a Sony. The commercials of videos taken with the Apple iPhone 6 look great on this TV.

I love the color of this TV. The stand it sits on is a little plain but probably mount it up on the wall eventually. I had trouble with the TV keeping up with the speed of knicks and punches in MMA fights but Sony helped me figure out the settings and had to lower the brightness. Football games are incredible.
