First let me say I did not buy this a Best Buy. Had gift cards to another store so had to purchase there. Bought this to replace my Samsung KS8000 60" in the family room. Wanted to go a little bigger. I am in no way disappointed with the new Sony! Colors are amazing, screen is vivid, motion is superb, blacks are inky black. Compared this to the 930E before purchasing. Could not see spending another $800 on the 930E over this. The full array backlight is a major plus, one thing that drove me nuts on the KS8000 with its edge lit backlight. HDR looks amazing as the colors pop and the detail is amazing. The Samsung always seemed to over push on HDR. Not so with the 900E. Gaming on the 900E is beautiful with the Xbox One S. Can't wait till the One X comes out this fall. No ghosting or lag, colors are gorgeous. My KS8000 has been put in the living room. It was last years top rated 4K TV. The new 900E blows it away! My only gripe is the lackluster remote it comes with but I haven't used a factory remote in ages. I sat the store for an hour or so comparing the 900E vs the 930E. So glad I chose the 900E. You won't be disappointed!

    The TV is gorgeous

I've waited a few years to purchase a big, high quality TV to make my home just that much nicer, and I'm glad I waited now. I've been stuck with 46" TV's for the last 6 years, and they were just ok TV's, nothing to brag about or show off. Since I saved up some cash for this and waited until the Black Friday deals, I was able to snatch this TV up, and now I can watch movies in 4K glory, play my games with a much better picture, and watch some gorgeous football. Also just the TV itself is very stylish, and doesn't have those huge ugly TV stands that don't seem stylish or minimalistic to me. The delivery was free, but they were nearly an hour late past the delivery window. But it was free so I'm not complaining. It took about 15 minutes to set up, and less than an hour to download all updates which is humorous to me since I'm old school. But wow, that picture is amazing. The remote does seem a bit obsolete and I haven't figured out the voice recognition yet. I do feel the remote should have motion-activated back-lit buttons since this is 2017, and not 1994. My $20 Xbox One remote even has back-lit buttons, which is awesome when you're watching movies in the dark. One more issue which is unrelated to this TV performance is I never received my free 30 day trial for Sling TV email, I should probably just contact Best Buy for that. The cord management system in the stand is nice since I use an HDMI cable for an HDMI switch that I use with 3 game consoles, my Amazon Fire Stick power cable, my Xbox One Kinect cord, and also use the Component jack for my PS2 Slim. I hate cables everywhere and I like to be organized, and you can't see the cables while viewing the TV from the front. The speakers are just ok, they're sufficient and I personally don't need a soundbar. I've only had the TV for two days, and I can't wait to see what this thing can do once I get my Xbox One X!

Had a bit of learning curve trying to use this TV out of the box but Setup was easy and fast. worked off google account on smartphone. Very nice. used settings off internet for calibration and wow. Very nice picture. apps are easy to find and if you use Amazon prime and Netflix and VuDu you will find this TV easy to use . works with Alexa (beta) for voice control. but have not used much. the remote is a little confusing as no common sense buttons for settings. at least for me they were a learning curve. still learning. This TV will never get update I am told by Sony for Dolby Vision so do not believe any salesman on that statement. will you need it? nope...most all 4K blu rays that use HDR (High Dynamic Range) and do not show Dolby vision so....no. this is a 10 bit display so 1.1 billion colors that can be displayed...movies are awesome. rtings website says this is best non oled you can get tied with TCL 605 but this is only one at 65" if you sit at 10' or more from TV location but not more than 15 this is your TV for experience. previous TV was B7A OLED 55" TV that failed do to known issue with system and compared to this one picture quality is tied. but this one way brighter for normal use and also very nice live TV through upscale inside TV . I will edit this post if anything changes on use.

Outstanding Picture; Android TV a little laggy

I was looking for a TV in the $2500 or less range, and I did not want a TV smaller than 65". It was a matter a of finding the best picture on the largest screen possible. I could have opted for a high-end OLED TV within the price range, but I would have been limited to 55", which I did not want. OLED TVs, or QLED TVs, in the 65" or larger class were out of budget. So, I set my sights on a 65" or possibly 75" set. In the end, I chose this TV because it gave the best picture quality this side of OLED, and in some ways even better. I could have gone with a larger 75" 850E instead of this 65" 900E, but in the end, the increase in picture quality over the 850E was worth the smaller size. 65" is plenty big enough. The blacks in this picture are the best you will get this side of the true blacks of OLED. But I really think it handles subtlety within blacks better than OLED, and does not crush the shadows like OLED can, leaving a little more visible detail in the darkest areas of the picture. It's true that letterbox bars can sometimes show a little blooming and will not always be the solid bands of black you would get with OLED, but blooming happens only a minority of the time, and the blacks within the picture themselves are outstanding. Blacks show much better than the 850E, and with almost no light bleed, which the 850E, being side-lit LED instead of direct-lit like the 900E, seemed to be plagued with. The color is breathtaking. I don't think any other TV beats it, including higher-end TVs. I'm extremely happy with the picture quality. Five stars. HDR playback is brighter than a number of other TVs I tested, including several OLED TVs. Watching HDR content throws a lot of people because it seems dark, and it really can be if the TV doesn't have a very bright top end. Fortunately, this TV is bright enough that I actually had to tone it down a bit because the brightest brights could be a little too bright at times. The Android TV smart functions, however, are laggy and little bit annoying to work with. Being able to customize the location of your apps would be a big improvement. The sound quality of the speakers is surprisingly good, and I actually opted not to buy a soundbar for casual use. (I have a full home theater surround system for watching movies, which I pretty much only use for movies.) The more you adjust the picture, though, the more processing you add, and unfortunately, when playing content through the Blu-ray player hooked up to a receiver, there's a picture lag which affects sound sync, and it can be substantial, by a full second or more. Adjusting the sync in the Blu-ray player itself resolves the issue, but not every player has that ability. But the bottom line is that I'm very pleased with the purchase and am enjoying a gorgeous picture. Though the rating system doesn't allow it, I'd be happy to rate it a 4.5. There are better TVs, but at the price point, I couldn't ask for more.

This is a phenomenal TV if you like rich and vibrate color and a smooth picture. Also don’t let the OLED deep black level hype fool you. While they start off with the cleanest picture, if you are an unlucky person that has experienced burn in after 1 year of use (some cases less) and the manufacturer tells you it ain’t covered under warranty that is not a good feeling. If you game a lot DON’T get an OLED!! Burn in is real! After some great calibration I was very impress with the black levels. The TV itself is very sleek and I love how you can hide your wires if you are not mounting. I’m also a huge gamer and games really pop on this TV especially for you guys big into next gen game consoles that support 4K games. HDR content looks great and those concerned about refresh rate, I felt it was no problems in that area. Specs wise it if that is all you care about go with the TCL series TVs, but Sony pound for pound did a great job with this TV if you like overall picture quality, appearance and performance when gaming, watching TV or movies in ultra 4K. You get your monies worth guys!!

I will start of by saying that the resolution and colors of this tv are beautiful. The image is already perfectly adjusted and there is really no need to mess with the picture once you set it up. The sound is quite loud and sounds clear as well. Gaming on this tv is amazing, I have a standard ps4 slim but when playing on this tv the quality of gaming is extremely sharp and detailed so a 4k compatible console would look even more stunning. Netflix has yet to suport QHD streaming but if you have a HD membesrship .. The quality is just wow. You also get a few free movies through google play store and other promotional items when purchasing a tv like this and it's free so that's a plus. You have to redeem through your phone on the app store though, they don't explain that so I had to figure that part out on my own to redeem the free 4k movie. Anyways , if your looking for amazing picture quality, good stock sound and good/smooth smart tv operating system this tv has it all. Sony is the go to when it comes to TV's

For $1500 this was the right TV for me. It has no problem with glare in a bright room. The picture looks fantastic. Not as saturated as oleds I've seen (for better or worse). I haven't been disappointed with the black levels I've seen. Android TV is snappy once you disable all the extra Sony bloatware and content suggestion. Wish it had an rf remote, but Harmony smart control or a Roku stick+ can fix that for not too much money. It intelligently controls my htib audio even though it is an old Samsung one. Having a center stand means you don't have to have a monstrous TV stand when not wall mounting. Overall I'm very happy and only look at the tcl 65r617 from time to time wondering how close it would come to this for $500 less. If oled got to this price at this size new, I would choose that probably.

First off, I love electronics but I'm no tv expert. I don't know that I could ever tell you that a pixel in the screen is not working correctly. It would have to be pretty noticeable for me to see it. But, I do know enough about TV's to know a good one when I see it and this thing is beautiful. I streamed some 4K content from Amazon and even the wife was impressed. I wish I could find some HDR content to see what the blacks look like, but from what I've seen so far, I think I'm going to love it. I've played a little bit of everything on the tv and haven't had any problems in picture quality. I could be a little biased though...I won't buy any tv but Sonys. Have gone the Samsung route buying some of their mid to high end tv's and had them die on me in 3 years. Have 3 Sony's dating back to the 720P tvs and all 3 are still working beautifully. Outside of that, I'm still playing around with the tv and all the connections. So far, I'm very happy with my purchase and hope this tv will last like my others.

I finally took the plunge and upgraded my TV to 4k/Ultra HD. My still beloved Panasonic plasma has found a new home in the guest room. I took advantage of a Black Friday price cut on this set and made the purchase. After two weeks, I have no buyers remorse. Picture quality is outstanding, with black levels on par with my Panny. Deep menus allow for a LOT of picture tweaking. Android OS has been flawless so far. All the usual apps are installed: Netflix, Amazon Video, etc. All work well. Ample inputs for all devices. Energy efficient, TV runs much cooler than the plasma. Easy to use remote. Easy set up, WiFi connection was a breeze. IR blaster set up to control my cable box, easy peasy. Xbox One S is my main streaming device. 4K disc drive provides a nice 4K experience. BBC Planet Earth 4K is the go to demo disc. Overall, hard to beat this set at the $1500 price point that I got it for. Two thumbs up!

This is my first LED LCD TV, all my previous TVs were Plasmas. I've skeptical of getting one, but I heard a lot of great things on this Sony model. After using it for some time, I have to admit that I'm very impressed. The picture quality is amazing. I'm a gamer so I am very happy it has a game mode for me. Pretty much all the presets are dead on with the content that is being watched. Also, the picture settings can be customized. The sound is also very good. I can hear the surround sound. Of course, it doesn't compete with my actual home theaters system, but for those without one is good enough. Lastly, the HDR is definitely amazing. All my HDR games look even better. I'm in love with my TV with no regrets. The price and quality was very good. I bought it on black Friday for $1500. I would get one again for my brother, the smaller version of course.

I was a little reluctent to give up my 6 year old 60 inch LG plasma for an LED tv. There is absolutely no comparison between the two. The Sony far exceeded my expectation. The picture quality is the best I've seen. Colors are colorful, and blacks are black. The Sony is so much brighter, you have to see it to believe it. All the HDMI ports are up to todays standards. The sound is ok for regular tv shows, but I also purchased the Sony soundbar for the movies and music. Great rich sound. Very good price at $1499. The Geek Squad delivered it and set everything up to get me going. $99. Professional and courteous.

I had a 50" plasma tv in living room for years, it started having problems in September so I replaced it with a $350 55" 4k tv until black friday and then get the sony 65". I moved the 55" into the kids game room and installed the 65", we'll the first thing is that this tv weighs half as much as the 50" plasma it replaced. The second thing you notice is how nice the tv looks, the tv has a very small frame around it. When I turned on the tv the setup took a little while with the updates and all. When I finally was able to turn on the tv to watch a movie I was blown away by the picture. The default setting has picture so realistic that you honestly feel like you in the movie. I was watching a western and was able to see the weave of the cloth in the clothes. One thing I have to get used to is the picture settings. I'm used to the older tv's that the picture setting get set and then left alone. On these new tv's you set the picture settings to what you are watching so you get the viewing experience you want. We did hook up and Xbox one to this tv and it was amazing at the detail that showed up in the games we played and never had an issue with the detail in the games. During action scenes in movie's I never had any motion blurring or lagging. In dark scenes the blacks or solid colors are solid deep blacks or solid bright colors. I also want to say that I put the cheap 4k tv next to the sony and the picture quality between the two tv's playing the same show makes you think the cheap tv is not really 4k. If you can afford this tv you should get it, I never thought a tv be so good.

I recently broke up with my Ex and had to move. I needed a new entertainment system. Originally I was gonna keep it simple, I don't need 4K, I don't watch that much TV etc...I was hesitant about 4k because I was doing just fine without it. Shopping for a new TV I noticed everything is 4K and there are good options even at lower prices. I decided that if I'm gonna get a new TV I'm gonna get the best 1 I can afford. Winter is coming, I'm single again, time to play some games lol. It really is a major appliance and a good TV should last for years. I then dug into the online reviews and all the 4K info that is out there. Youtube, Best Buy, Ratings.com, and others all raved about this TV. The TV for 2017. I made the plunge and bought it and I am very happy I did. This TV works flawlessly and is a major upgrade to the old TV. The greatest thing is that I don't have cable, so everything I watch comes over the internet. I don't have this hardwired to the router, I only use wifi and it is a flawless connection. I have a great router - netgear AC2600 and only an upper midrange internet package. One of the best features of this TV is the Smart TV hub. I was amazed how the smart TV features have progressed. In the past I always used my playstation for netflix, youtube etc., but this TV works amazingly for accessing apps and features. The remote is great, the sound is good too. Everybody knocks flat screen sound so I purchased a soundbar thinking it would be mandatory. I only really use the soundbar for movies and immersive gameplay. If there was anything negative to say about the TV it may be the power brick, only because it makes in-wall cable routing a hassle. Not a big deal. There are a lot of features on this TV and settings as well. The out of the box settings work great and I haven't had to tweak much if anything. I got the big 65" version and it is fantastic. I have a 4K DVD player and the PS4 Pro running to the TV and a Toslink audio cable running from the TV to the soundbar. Super simple set-up and everything I need. Highly recommend.

I purchased this TV for my new house and I couldn't be happier with it. The picture quality is great and I try to watch as much 4K programming that I can to take advantage of the color. Smart TV features are great as well and easy to navigate. My only criticism is with the sound of the TV, as it could be better, but this was solved when I hooked up my sound bar. Overall a great TV that has all of the features you would want. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quality set.

The picture quality of this TV is outstanding. It has the ability to get very bright but also very dark for deep blacks, though not quite OLED-dark. Sony's have always been wonderful for me and the X900E is no different. Paired with an Xbox One X and a Denon AVR-S930H, it makes for quite the theatrical experience. Games like Assassin's Creed: Origins and Far Cry 5 look outstanding in true 4K and HDR. 4K UHD movie discs look unbelievably realistic. The Android operating system is the biggest downfall of the X900E. It is painfully slow and can be very frustrating to use. Since I do all of my streaming, etc. through the Xbox One X, the only time I have to interact with the TV is to adjust picture settings. It amazes me that Sony uses such an unoptimized OS for these TV's, but I digress. Considering I use this TV as a giant monitor, I can live with the laggy Android OS. Overall, the X900E is at the top when it comes to mid-range TV's. The 65" is hard to beat for the $1500 that I purchased it for and I am looking forward to getting many years of enjoyment out of it.
