The picture quality on this set is fantastic. Great colors and contrast. This is my first smart TV and I am happy to trade all the add-on boxes for the integrated apps. Integration with my Yamaha receiver has so far been very good, including auto power control and ARC functionality. The only issue that I've had that you'll probably see in other reviews is occasional sluggishness in the controls, including volume control.

I just recently purchased this TV on sale and had it delivered. My son helped me with the unpacking and installation, which was very easy. Crating was excellent. A few minutes to put together and connect to my cable, DVD, and PlayStation. Everything worked perfectly, television prompts guide you through the TV setup process, and it connected immediately to the internet. Must say picture is stunning, best I've seen. UHD is the only way to go. Sound is very good, but I connect to a soundbar which is excellent. SMART functions work flawlessly, and I am enjoying accessing YouTube and Netflix on a daily basis. Overall really enjoining this television.

    Best Choice for the $$$$$$

I've only had this TV a week, but this TV has excellent picture quality no matter what I'm watching or playing on it. I have the sound playing through a $700 (on sale for $300) sound bar so I can't say anything about the sound directly from the TV. This 65 inch is the perfect size for our family room and I love everything about it. The viewing angle is just fine wherever I'm sitting and the up scaling is simply incredible. I debated buying an OLED, but this TV shows true blacks and bright whites almost as close to an OLED TV (without the price tag of an OLED). I can't wait to watch the Olympics on this TV.

Purchased to replace a Samsung Plasma, Very happy

I spent 5 months waiting for an OLED to drop in price but they didnt. I wanted something to replace my 2010 Samsung Plasma (which was calibrated by BB). Eventually I narrowed it down to the LG OLED, Samsung KS 9000, or the Sony X900E. I decided to go with the X900E as it is an improvement over last year's 930D. I felt the X900E had excellent blacks and picture but didnt cost as much as the OLED and had Android TV vs the Samsung interface so I could download Kodi directly. I was really hesitant to replace my old Samsung Plasma because I thought pictures could not get any better than plasmas unless you bought an OLED. I am in week 3 of ownership and have been surprised in all aspects. The X900E as completely impressed me and so far I think my choice was the best one. I would have bought an OLED but could not justify another $1200. The only complaint I have is that the remote is not as good as Samsung's (my brother has the KS8000). Its a bit too square and the buttons are not easy to find or hit since they are not raised much. The picture exceeds my expectations and it is actually easier to see vs the Plasma because it is a bit brighter. I have more natural light in my new living room that my old home, those this is easier to see. Great TV. Ill update if anything goes bad. I also have it connected to a Sony Dn1070 Receiver and Polk Audio 42 inch surroundbar to maximize sound.

    Awesome 4K TV

I wanted a midrange 4K TV and narrowed to Samsung MU8000 series or this Sony XBR65X900E. The Sony looks great, color are vivid, and the built in Chromecast feature are nice if you are on Google service. If you can afford to spend over $1000, skip the TCL and Vizio because the black level and color accuracy are not as good as this Sony.

The picture: Looks more natural when compared with my samsung 4k. However, I am used to Samsung's high contrast and sharpness and the Sony picture is not as "4K like". The OS: hands down Android TV is more robust. Samsung's Smart OS is more intuitive but it crashes ALL THE TIME. Android TV takes a little more getting used to and not many apps are designed for the TV. The Android TV ties in nicely with my Google Home and my smart phones. Price: cost a couple hundred bucks more than my samsung when both have similar features. TV Settings: Samsung lets you fine tune everything while Sony's setting is limited and won't let you do much. Remote: Samsung uses bluetooth so you need to wait for it to connect initially. Even after it is connected there is a lag. Sony uses infrared and it is easier to use. But you need to point it at the center of the TV for it to work. It also has 2 large buttons dedicated for Google Play and Netflix. Wish they have a YouTube button as well.

Excellent Picture Quality, Just "Good" Apps

Picture quality is absolutely amazing, as expected after reading/watching reviews and seeing it in the store. Absolutely no regrets there (or with the entire TV, all considered). Although the TV is indeed "smart" and sometimes I have used its built-in apps, I am preferring to use my Roku Ultra (Oct 2017 4660X edition - although it has issues too). The reason is that, funny enough, the built-in YouTube app does not do HDR. Only the Roku Ultra and Chromecast Ultra support HDR for YouTube. Strange. I believe that is not the story with built-in Netflix, which I think does support HDR. Vudu on any platform seems to only support Dolby Vision HDR, which this TV does not support. Oh well.

This TV has a picture that pops out at you. I was looking for the best TV in this price range and so far I am very happy with this Sony. I replaced a 8 year old 52 inch Samsung that I can't say anything bad about. But when I was looking, this one was by far the best. It has no problem with glare in a normal room with windows which was something I was worried about. You can calibrate to your own viewing preference very easily. Ordered online because they didn't have one at the store to buy but had one on display. If you are looking in this price range check this one out. I picked it up in about 2 days after ordering at the Clarksville store and it went very well.

I liked my 55 900e so much I purchased the 65 900e as well. Everything about the TV is fine. The upscaling is excellent. You can tell when the program you are watching uses high quality cameras because the picture is that much sharper. Even when watching 4K content like Netfix you can see the camera trying to lock focus. Out of the box the picture adjustments are good but if you research you can find the optimal settings for your taste. I watch a lot of sports and the motion is fine. I love the FALD panel because it is very uniform with no light bleed or blooming. The android OS is not bad. The TV does have a big delay when you are switching back to watch TV from another app. The remote does suck like everyone says. I would love to see Sony upgrade to something like LG's magic wand. Overall the 900e series is an excellent TV and even better when you buy it on sale.

We absolutely live this TV. Really glad that we went with the 65" too. The NetFlix (4K) and other 4K apps are so nice to have. Beautiful picture - deep blacks - lively colors - easy to use. The sound is nice as well, however, I am using a SoundBar. At any rate - if you're thinking about it, know that it's a great buy

This is the best 65" TV of it's kind on the market. Very easy to set up; the Wi-FI was also very user friendly to set up. The picture is fenominal, it gives you the feeling that you could just step into the screen. The black pixels and the 6 hour refresh are amazing. And the cable 1080i or p up convert to 2160 creates a beautiful totally clear and sharp picture. I am very pleased with my purchase, and would recommend this TV to anyone willing to pay $1500.00 for perhaps the best TV out there. I feel this way now, and I have not even looked into many of the features, like voice activation, Internet apps, and periferal interfaces. Jim

Zero issues so far. TV came highly recommended on rtings.com and does not disappoint. Configured with the settings from rtings.com and picture is pretty good. Haven't compared too many current TVs in person, so I relied on online reviews from 5-10 websites and this one was pretty universal. Setup took about 5 mins after TV updated, which took probably 20-30 mins. First Android TV, so it required a little learning curve, but not too different from Amazon FireTV. All my apps are available so I can free up a Roku for another room. So far impressed and works pretty good with my Plex Server. 1080p looks amazing, can't wait to try 4k.

I am an "end user" only, so I can't comment on specs. This is my first "big" TV purchase and before spending such a large amount I did my research. I went into the store a few times, compared sizes, prices, brands and models. I then went online and did the same, as well as spending a lot of time reading reviews. I went back to the store and looked again and really loved the picture and features this product offered. Black Friday prices helped me decide and I purchased it. It was installed, mounted on the wall, yesterday and it has that "wow" factor. I purchased a soundbar and haven't heard the sound from the TV itself, so I can't comment on sound. I was worried about glare from the windows, usually I keep the curtains drawn to watch, but it is not an issue. The picture quality is amazing, so realistic and beautiful. So far it has been easy to use. My only "complaint" is the remote. The buttons are small and the response isn't the best, often have to push a button a few times to get it to respond. No "buyers remorse" what-so-ever with this purchase!

I spent days researching Tv’s and reading every review I could find online about this TV. Almost every website says this is the tv to go with if you don’t want to pay OLED prices. After reading the reviews here I almost went with another TV because so many reviews here said bad things about the Android interface on this Tv. I could not be happier that I went with this Tv. The picture quality is amazing. Watching DirecTV via HDMI and the picture quality is beautiful and I feel it is better than my old 1080p plasma which this Tv replaced. The colors seem brighter and oh yeah, the 65 inch screen make the picture on this tv look amazing. Normal TV, DirecTV which is 1080i from the source, is of course upscaled to 4k which looks great as well and better then my old TV. Watching 4K ultra content from Netflix and the picture quality is the best I’ve ever seen. Same goes for Netflix HDR which looks great as well. You will want to upgrade your Netflix account and add 4k and HDR streaming. I think it was $2 more a month to do this. If you have Amazon prime 4k is included at no extra cost. The Android TV interface is actually pretty fast. Except when you change the volume it takes 3-4 seconds to show up on screen and you wonder is it working (it is). Other than that Android Tv has been a pleasant experience and fun to use. I will say this, I use Ethernet connection with AT&T Fiber internet and not wifi. If you use Wifi then you open yourself up to connection issues in general and that’s because wifi is not as reliable as hardwire ethernet. Another thing you must point the remote at the right spot on the TV which is just below the Sony logo. IF you point it anywhere else it does not work. The remote is not universal and will only control Sony products. Seriously Sony, $2k for a TV and you can’t spring for a universal remote. It comes with an IR blaster that you must hook up to your DirecTV\cable box if you wish to use the Sony remote to control it. I haven’t bothered to do this because it’s annoying to have to do and I’m using the DTV remote to turn TV on/off and change channels. You get a free movie from google play for buying this Tv and I used it on Passengers. Which looks incredible on this TV. I hooked up a Samsung 8500 UHD player to test UHD disc Deadpool and it looked incredible as well. You really cannot go wrong with this TV, amazing picture Android TV is really cool and has a ton of apps to play with. Accessing Netflix\HBO\YouTube\google play was supper easy and the picture quality is phenomenal, I would highly recommend this TV.

This TV is excellent! After extensive research I purchased the 65 inch version as my all use TV in the living room. Upscaling of cable content is very good and one of the reasons I went with a Sony. The full array back-lighting provides deep inky blacks and amazingly bright colors. I recommend the Standard picture setting for everyday use, which gives the darkest blacks and best color, and I'd stay away form the rting.com recommended Custom setting. The lighting in my room ranges from very bright to very dark and this set handles everything well. It's a great all use TV that won't disappoint.

I had a high end Panasonic plasma 50" television in our family room for the past 8 years. In its day it had a tremendous picture and we have had great service from it. However, I was ready to try out a larger screened lcd television that could output 4k Ultra HD video. We have not been disappointed. The normal 1080p picture is very nice while the 4k media we have watched has been amazing. I'm sure I could get a better picture if I had the picture settings calibrated and I may do that in the future. Setup of the television was amazingly simple. Since it has an Android TV capability all I needed to do was follow the on screen instructions on my television and my android cell phone and it connected to my wifi router quickly and simply. I had been reading reviews online since this past summer in anticipation of holiday sales and it looks like I timed my purchase well. I got this model from my local Best Buy for $1000.00 less that it was selling for last summer. I am very pleased.

I was in the market for a 65" late July. I went into 3 different best buys and spoke to the employees at each store. I pretty much knew what TV i kind of wanted, but was open to suggestions from the employees. At first, I wanted the OLED (It's clearly the best picture in the market) 65", but my girlfriend wasn't having it due to the price point. So we both decided on at least finding the closest thing to the OLED's and willing to spend no more than 2000. When visiting the stores I was ready to purchase an LG tv, just because I did my reviews and thought it would be best for the house plus it was a pretty decent price as for as 65" go. But an employee basically talked me out of the LG and to go with the X900e which was a couple hundred bucks more, kind of getting close too close to our price range (at the time it was 1,999), but it did look phenomenal. So I left that store and my girlfriend and I thought about it some more. I started reading reviews (every place you can think of.) they were all praising the X900E. After talking ourselves into it we said whatever lets spend the extra hundred bucks and get the X900E. We stop by another best buy closer to our home and already decided on what we want, the X900E. Of course my stubborn self decides to speak the an employee from there and with one last try I ask him, "If you were in my shoes which 65" TV would you buy for the price range of where the X900E was at right now." He directs me to the MU9000 and tells us all the cool gadgets on it and how Samsung now has 1 cord that goes to the tv and plugs into an adapter all your hdmi cables and any other cables all plug into that instead of the back of the tv. Which was a plus for us because we were mounting it. My girlfriend loved that idea and I thought it was pretty cool too so we threw out the idea of the X900E and bought the MU9000. When we got home and set the tv up.. I kid you not.. That had to be the worst picture quality I've ever seen. I'm a guy that worked at a best buy about 8 years ago and I knew a decent amount about TV's. I was also upgrading for a Panasonic Plasma (Which i loved and still do) that had no problems at all, we had just decided to buy a bigger tv. Man, when I put that tv up i was so upset. Plus, it was Game of Thrones night and the fact that I had to watch it on that had me upset. So the next day I returned the Tv and bought the X900E. we got home unboxed it, put it up and right out the box the TV looked AMAZING. I come to realize if i had the money for the 65" OLED, I think would still choose this Sony X900E over it... Hope this helps. Oh yea, Game of Thrones looks great on it by the way

Great for everything, watching movies,TV,playing video games (low lag),streaming Netflix and Youtube(has built in apps for those) and a whole bunch more. So customizable its not even funny. Picture is a 10/10, blurays look beautiful. Im getting another one because Im so pleased. If you have the money for this it really is a no brainer. Its almost the perfect 4K TV. The only issue Ive had is the remote, needs to be pointed directly towards the TV,its IR field of view is a bit limited. This does not take away the awesomeness at all though. Get it!

The TV is awesome, great picture and amazing in 4K. I also had the TV calibrated by a professional, it wasn't bb (I found a local guy) and it looks even better, I highly recommend it if you can afford it. I paired it with a Sonos soundbar and bass and it also sounds great. My only gripes are the Andoid software, slooow and the remote is still stuck in the 80s, come on Sony. The TV performance gets five stars, I knocked one star due to the Android software and remote.
