Out of the box this TV is remarkable. Good brightness, great color, exceptional dark and light uniformity. Best TV at an affordable price point on the market. only dislike is HDMI inputs 2 and 3 ship with standard format and should be enhanced, can be done in settings, but is necessary to utilize tvs full capability for 4k and HDR signals Also would like too see all 4 HDMI inputs with enhanced range formats.

TV is great. Very thin, very light weight. Picture is very bright, crisp and clear HDR with ps4 is awsome for games Sound is very good on its own without need for additional sound equipment Built in apps are great and easy to use Remote is not over complicated even with many features. In depth picture and sound settings to customize personal setting for gaming/ movies or sports is very nice Only negative for me is range on WiFi does not reach a floor up from router but other than that its all round great TV

HDR and 4K picture quality lives up to the sell. This replaced an early model 4K Samsung model. Definite improvement to true HDR. However, the software has several glitches. One, the screen display randomly appears as though the aspect ratio is changing. Secondly, if I’m watching Apple TV or playing my PS4 on inputs 2 or 3 and I have my satellite tv turned on at input 1, the tv automatically switches from input 2/3 back to 1 randomly. Really? If you’re battling aliens, about to score or taking down bad guys online, switching midstream can be very frustrating. Simply turn off the cable/satellite box to avoid it. But I really wasn’t expecting this glitch from someone like Sony.

We were assisted by Zach at the Alaska Dimond Best Buy location and let me tell you he knew his TV's. He educated us on TV options, pros and cons, what would work best for our space, and how we planned ou using our TV. Ultimately we spent more than we had planned but it was well worth it. Our Sony TV was super easy to set up, easy to control, and has amazing picture quality. We also noticed that everything loads faster, especially while playing video games. Would definitely recommend this TV.

Love the picture quality of this tv. Super bright even in my bright living room during daytime. Colors luscious, incredible blacks that I never had before. Sound quality not great but nothing much can be done about that with these thin tvs. Added a Sony Sound Bar which is much better but not without some issues with trying to control it through HDMI cable. Changed to optical cable on advice of my installer and it works fine now though without the interactive features it was supposed to have. This is really a Soundbar issue and not the fault of the TV but since Sony makes both I felt a little let down that they did not work seamlessly together.

    Wonderful but Terrible Flaw

I love my new Sony 65”, but today after only 4 months of gentle use, it died, with monitor frozen with 4 horizontal broken lines, reported elsewhere by other users. I will accept a refurbished TV with two year warranty, but worry that SONY has a serious flaw with this otherwise spectacular TV. I regret not buying extended warranty as quality is no longer trusted by me when it comes to SONY. New expensive TVs are not supposed to die after only 4 months!

My new Sony TV is not yet a week old. The picture quality is the best. I cannot imagine any better. However, the integration of the TV with my home sound system has been problematic. The quality of the audio out ports are less than HDMI sound standards. There is a sound bar port, headphone port and Optical Audio Port. The Optical Audio Port may be adequate for most sound requirements but does not support the high definition features of HDMI audio. The TV claims to support Audio Return Channel (ARC). This is a complicated audio-video configuration relationship between the home sound system and the TV. Internet WEB searches display many users having specific problems relating to the ARC feature. The documentation assumes that the reader is familiar with the subject and detailed assistance is lacking. I would have been most appreciative with an HDMI out port or HD Audio Out port. My sound system claims to provide ARC support but I have not been able to integrate the TV with consistency. When ARC works, it is a miracle of modern technology. When ARC fails to complete the expected process, the frustration to hear what the viewer is seeing can be disappointing. The TV menus are many and getting to know where to look takes time. I initially thought the menu system was complicated and confusing. While navigating through the installation and set-up process, I could not determine any better way to deal with the multitude of menus. The lack of documentation was problematic. The TV Help Guide is extreamely slow and not user friendly. I found a PDF guide at Sony Support site. There was very little of explanation of why I might want to alter any configuration item. There were assumptions that the user understood the issue and explanations were not needed. When I buy new technology like this Sony TV, I attempt to test ALL features soon after purchase. I have not been able to test the 4K video feature because it requires that I buy something else that provides a 4k video program. Even services like Netflix and Cable TV append an upcharge for 4K service. I will not update any service to 4K until I can prove that new fee is worth the additional expense.

Had to replace an old Sony projection TV that was great for many years. Visited the local store and didn't originally intend on purchasing another Sony TV. After looking at the options best suited for my preference in quailty and price range I decided on sticking with the Sony brand. It was a little more costly than the other options but I personally felt the picture quality and color was sharper. I also remembered how the brand alone is know for quality so I stuck with Sony

I came from a Samsung 1080p 60 fps less than 40 inch TV , so its a big jump to this TV. Initial had plans to buy OLED TV but was worried that may run into some burn-in issues. But finally settled with this one after doing a lot of research both online as well as at best buy stores. This TV has better blacks next to OLED and i dont care about DOLBY Vision for now and that tech still need more time to catch up mainstream.Overall i can say this is the best TV money can buy.

I’ve been a Samsung Guy forever. I’ve owned around 10 over the last 15 years. I decided to make the jump to this tv against the 8000 series Samsung. I love this tv and the smart tv options are awesome. As soon as I connect my harmony remote and mount it to the wall, we will be fully set. The color is amazing and the 4K is insanely clear. The OLED’s are awesome, but for a much lower price this TV is a MUCH better value in my opinion. I think I might be a Sony Guy now.

Excellent picture quality. Relatively easy to set up and operate. Sound quality is only fair as expected. It is best to use a sound system or headphones to compliment the picture quality . The remote isn't back-lite, however the important functions can be easily operated by touch. The stand is attractive and will fit on relatively small surfaces. It is pricey, but not compared to comparable products. I am satisfied and I have no regrets with my purchase decision.

Have had this TV for about a month now. Have mounted it on the same mount my outgoing 10 year old Samsung plasma was. Old TV was 50 inch this one is 65, but weighs half what the plasma weighed so mounting is a breeze. Set up the TV using settings from Rting.com. Not an expert, but absolutely love the picture on this set. Super Bowl was fantastic on this set watching from 1080 Dish satellite source. There is some picture degrading off center, but not outrageously objectionable, but noticeable. UHD Blu-Rays are stunning on this set. Blacks are inky black and colors pop. Have not been distracted by motion, but I don't game. Football has been fine and haven't watched any other sports. Remote sometimes does not seen to be powerful enough. At times I had to walk closer to the Tv to get it to respond. Turning the Bravia Sync (CEC) off seems to have cured that. Regular Blu-Ray also looks great on this set too. So far I couldn't have asked for better in this price range. You'd have to spend considerably more to get a TV that outperforms this one.

I've been a Sony customer for a long time. Quality and reliability is one of the best in the class. The colors are sharp, easy to setup and Android interface is miles improvement from my 7 years old Sony TV. I think the TV tilts slightly backwards as a safety precaution when installed on the provided stand. Since we installed it in a wall recess it this is a bit annoying for now but hoping we'll get used it. Really no complaints after one week of use.

I have been looking for a tv for a while. I had done some research and this one seemed to be a great fit for me. It was more than I planned on spending but the quality of the picture is so great that I didn’t think much and bought it as soon as I saw a drop on price. My friends all have 4k TVs but this one just looks much better. I believe it’s that frame rate and hdr.

Picture quality, movement, and brightness/contrast are exactly what we were looking for. You’d have to double the price for OLED to get better. And who wants to pay for that? ...yet. Husband wants to mention the reflection is awesome...ly nonexistent! We put it in a front room with two walls of windows.

Our main TV had served us well but was approaching 10 years old (it's a 1080p HDMI 60' rear projection set). After seeing our last DirecTV bill I decided it was time to cut the cord and doing so would cover the cost of buying a spectacular new TV inside of 6 months. With that in mind I started researching, reading reviews, looking at floor models and ended up picking a 65' Sony XBR65X900E. The picture is just spectacular. These new 4K UHD units are eye popping when watching 4K content ... the only down side is going back and watching some of the older shows. The set does a great job of handling high speed action pictures without blur and the colors are gorgeous. Viewing at angles is really good and was one of the major selling points. The sound from the internal TV speakers is adequate but plugging into a soundbar makes for a much better experience and fullness. The remote could have used some slightly bigger buttons but everything is there and straight forward to use. Once again, the picture is the star.

Great picture with awesome colors. Other big companies (like Samsung) like to make the colors nice and bright to say they have great picture quality but, Sony has done a great job with realistic color on this TV. Contrast is great, day and night. Live action is great. Our living room is bright and there’s no issue with glare. The stats are legit! Great buy!

    Sony xbr65x900e

I purchased the xbr65x800e from Best Buy in late November after Sony reduced the price for the Holidays. I had planned on purchasing an LG OLED but after viewing the Sony and LG side by side at Best Buy, I really couldn't see much difference in picture quality. I then checked rtings.com which was very positive on the Sony (8.1 versus 8.5 for the LG). The 0.4 difference being the typical picture deterioration of VA LED panels when viewing from an angle. Also, I became nervous regarding reported online complaints of temporary burn-in on the LG OLED and reported shorter life of OLED panels. I connected the xbr65x800e to a Comcast X1 DVR, Sony PS3 and Onkyo TX-NR646 7.1 Receiver via HDMI. I use the Sony HDMI switching rather than the Onkyo which provides the best video and sound across all the sources. It also enables a simpler remote interface. I use HDMI ARC to send audio from the TV to the Receiver and HDMI-CEC to control the receiver by the TV. The Comcast Remote turns on and off both the TV and Receiver and controls the receiver audio volume. The Comcast remote input button switches the inputs on the TV. The only time I need the Sony TV remote is for changing TV settings, PIP and to access the TV Smart TV features. An historical strength of Sony is that their TVs provide very natural colors and this TV doesn't disappoint in this area. The overall picture quality is excellent with very good blacks. My son is a professional photographer with a keen eye and he feels the picture quality of this TV is better than LG OLED TVs. My TV is situated adjacent to a 9 foot by 16 foot wall of glass doors/windows in Florida and the glare is minimal. One of the things, I like about the Sony is that it boots up to Cable TV very quickly. It takes several seconds for the TV Smart features to boot. 4K HD on Utube is outstanding. The TV uses the android operating system for the Smart TV features. You have access to a very broad range of Android Apps via the Google Play Store. You can download and sideload apps using the Download app from the Google Play Store. All the best streaming apps are available including Kodi and various VPN apps. The only issue that I am continuing to experience is varying lip sync from different sources. The Sony lip sync adjustment is limited; so I am trying to fine tune lip sync on the Onkyo. I have also experienced the TV rebooting a couple of times with connecting or disconnecting Bluetooth earphones to the TV. This doesn't happen all the time.
