Complete disappointment
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was sold by the excitement by the associate on how great it would be for sports. The best there is supposedly. Was hoping just a bad connection to my house but they have fixed two issues in neighborhood that have yet to change anything. Players have what look like heat waves around them. Baseballs have tails. Some angles and images are crisp as expected but very rare. Have been into Best Buy to try and get their thoughts on what else to try. Adjusted all the setting I can and no improvement. Will try to confirm connection into the house one more time and then will look to replace in hopes this was just a rare bad processor inside.

Unusable due to Inconsistent Internet connection
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Unfortunately from the day I set this TV up I never got it to work consistently. Since I don't have cable, I depend on the internet for all of my media consumption needs. The TV fails to maintain a connection with my router for more than half an hour so watching anything becomes a chore because I have the turn off the tv's wifi antenna and turn it back on. Btw, none of my other devices have issues with my internet but nonetheless I bought and replaced both my router and modem thinking the problem lied there but to no avail, I also called my service provider and had them check everything and said that everything is running fine, so the issue was the TV itself. In conclusion, would i recommend this TV to a friend? Absolutely not, I wouldn't wish the tech problems I've experienced and the time wasted trying to fix it on anyone.

Sony or nothing
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.By far the best tv I've owned. Streaming Netflix is fast. Everything seems to load much quicker. Dvds look great, Blu Ray discs look awesome, and 4K UHD discs are absolutely fantastic, especially in Dolby Vision. And there are tons of Dolby Vision movies out there to be enjoyed. Sony upscaling algorithm is the best in the business. Colors really pop and the picture is so crisp, it almost gives a 3D look with all the depth. This tv has so much brightness it has me squinting when the sun comes into view. The contrast is slightly better on the 55" and 65" than on the larger models due to the X Wide angle. I don't have any problem with watching at an angle on my 65" 950G. If the larger models didn't have the X Wide, I would have went to a larger size. Loving the new remote. One of the best remotes I've used. 50% of the time I push the buttons without picking it up and this is one of the only remotes stable enough to do that without it flipping over. It has a nice tactile feel in the hand with the rough bottom and brushed aluminum top. I can't speak to the legs as I have mine mounted. The speakers actually impressed me when I first tried them out. Those without extra sound (AVR/Soundbar) will be good to go if that's what your use to or have a small viewing room. Our living room is 14' x 17' so I'm using external sound. I'm really liking the menus and whole "smart" part of the tv. Everything is quick and smooth scrolling through the menus. The more you use them, the quicker it is to find everything you need. I haven't ran an update yet and unless there's some amazing stuff added, I don't plan to soon. I haven't had any glitches at all for the time I've had it. None. I'm not going to say it's a perfect tv because it's not. When the screen goes black (like start of the credits), it is really inky black. It isn't until the white letters start scrolling across the sea of black that the blooming becomes noticeable. If you pay close attention, you can spot the bloom into the black bars while the movie is playing when bright objects near the bars. I never notice when watching myself because the picture is so nice but it's there. Overall I'm very satisfied. Couldn't justify a temporary OLED tv until they figure out black crush, lack of brightness, and burnin that they all will eventually get. I guess I want to just enjoy my viewing time for many years to come without putting any thought into static objects on the screen. And with the 950G and 950H being nearly identical at a much lower cost, I am very happy I landed on this particular tv. If you can find one, get it! One last thing I should mention, I bought an LG 4k blu ray player with Dolby Vision and couldn't use it with this tv. Apparently Sony's version of Dolby Vision isn't compatible with Lg's. The LG loaded fast and put out a very nice picture, but I could never get Dolby Vision to work until I bought a Sony 4k blu ray player. I think Panasonic is compatible with Sony as well... just a heads-up!

Fantastic TV for primary use
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We have had this tv for 4 years and have love it! All of the apps we need are preinstalled. The Google voice is easy to use and compliments the easy to navigate UI. This tv is our primary tv in our living and it gets a lot of use. We have only had minor technical glitches that are always resolved with a software or firmware update. Sony publishes great patches and updates! New features and enhancements are nice for older tvs.

Overall, great 4k tv and amazing picture
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Finally upgraded to a 4k tv after checking several TV's and spending months researching brands, display type, models, oled vs non-led, etc... Why not oled? My living room is bright and I like watching sports during the day. After reaching, oled is not the best for day time sports. Why Sony? I have always liked Sony and my previous products lasted a looking time. I have had several other TVs, but Sony seems to have better pictures and less bugs. Sony has less motion blur for sports compared to Samsung and other brands. My Vizio started acting up after 4 years (picture keeps freezing). I was leaning to LG, but found I liked the oled LG picture in the store, which would not work at home for me... Why X950g? (I did not compare to H series, as it was just coming out after all my research) The 800 series are nice, but are edge lit and an older processor. The 900/950 are full array, meaning the whole screen is lit from the back, huge difference when you look at the difference. G over f? Yes because the g has a faster processor that is used in the high end Sonys. I like the remote better and the picture even looked cleaner. Easy set up - simple to follow for basic set up. If you want to get advanced set up, not that hard to figure out Picture - beautiful, I do not notice any blooming. Some might be noticed on a black background with white lettering, but honestly, unless you are hunting for it, not that noticable. I did not notice any motion blur for baseball, hockey, basketball, golf, or football. Nor in movies with fast action. Basic tv - I have over the air (antenna) and the guide works to tell you what is on/coming on. Very nice as most brands don't do this. But if you have antenna, you will know how sweet this is. Streaming - I stream over WiFi a few sources and it works very well. No Wi-Fi connection issues or delays caused by the TV itself. Easy to get to your apps/inputs and you can cast from your phone. Apps - Some issues here, but overall 4/5 rating once you figure out how to avoid the glitch in the app (not fault if the tv). The selection is great Disney+, Hulu, YouTube TV and many more: A. Disney+ works great and is preloaded. Some shows/movies are in 4k B. Netflix works very well and great picture. Apparently this tv was designed to have amazing Netflix pictures, no complaints here.plus you can see sneak preview just by highlighting a program. C. YouTube TV, this one is a little glitchy. 1st off you have to download from the app store as it is not preloaded. The set up is easy and I love the menu, takes a little figuring out, not as user friendly as others. But the problem I had was the if you turned off the TV while on YouTube TV, when you turned it back on the picture may be frozen. After days of trying to figure it out, route cause was skids programs on YouTube TV (and HGTV). Those programs have an "auto pause" built into them, meaning if you hit the menu, the program pauses until you go back in. While this is nice, it is glitchy making the tv freeze if you turn off the TV when in a kids show and then turn it on later. It can be avoided by going to another channel before turning off. Again, this is YouTube TV app, not the fault of the tv. Gaming - I have a PS4 and it is great on the tv. And they work together, meaning I turn on the PS4 and the tv comes on and goes directly to that input. Overall, I absolutely love this tv. Well worth the purchase, and I know I have a reliable brand that, with me, has a long track record of quality and long lasting pictures. I still have a 40 inch Sony 1080p I bought in 2009 and works great.

Definitely worth buying
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Sony fan for many years, but I always like to be open-minded about other brands and models of electronics. They are always changing. But, I always come back to Sony. I do tons of research and make sure that when I make the purchase, I'm getting exactly what I want. You just don't know, though, until you get it home and plug it in how satisfied you are really going to be. I must say that I am extremely satisfied with this purchase. The picture itself is always amazing...it's a Sony...of course the picture is amazing. The menus and the remote are exceptional compared to my last Sony from a few years ago, which was also an XBR. Very easy to use and navigate. Very easy to load apps. I can't say enough...and I'm just getting started with it.

The Best Color, Depth and Motion
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve been working in the film industry for 15 years, with the last 7 of those spent as a colorist. So it’s hard to find a screen that does everything you want; and if your budget is under $8k, and you’re willing to spring for a Master Series or Trimaster for critical viewing, there is no perfect TV. OLEDs risk burn in and wearing out of pixels. Samsung’s drop detail in favor of “contrast.” LG uses IPS panels with overall worse performance that other screen. Vizio can’t upscale, yet— although I have high hopes for the panels coming out this year. And of course, TCL is still a developing brand that has some new heights to reach before their processors are on par. I had the Samsung q90r for a week before ultimately swapping for this. The q90r is great for video games because of the lower input lag and overall color volume, but there is a magenta border on all of the q90 TVs due the position of the backlight MX the highlights are blown out and the blacks, while deep, cause crushing of the shadows and low mids. Switching to the 950g, you get amazingly accurate color out of the box, and it’s still very bright, without losing any detail in the shadows and mids. Moreover, it’s sharpness and clarity are second to none— I’ve been impressed with the performance of the X1 Ultimate chip in its ability to not only upscale, but to show every detail in 4K content such as the Witcher on Netflix. Regarding blooming: I was very worried it was going to be as bad or worse than the Z9f which I tested out for only a few hours before knowing I couldn’t live with that TV. There is some subtle blooming in the black bars that goes away when the Tv is in Dark Mode for Dolby or you calibrate it otherwise for a dark room. Really, you shouldn’t be watching the Tv in a dark room at full brightness— that’s awful for your eyes. So I’m eased with the settings for pitch black room viewing and I’ve added a bias light for some HDR content to prevent eye strain. Overall, unless you’re willing to risk the burn out on OLED, or you don’t mind losing some of the detail on the Samsung series, there is no better Tv at this price.

Among the best on the market
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is by far the greatest television I've ever owned. It's powerful, responsive, loaded with features, and for the price it can't be beat. Samsung's QLED TVs and even LG's higher end OLEDs have nothing on Sony's remarkable processing power. Imagine having a 4K HDR TV with a processor that's strong enough to drive 8K content and resolution; that's precisely what Sony did with the x950G. Their flagship X1 Ultimate picture processor is on-board and boy does it deliver! What this TV can do in terms of upscaling and other image enhancements is nothing short of phenomenal! I love the hands-free "OK Google" detection, the redesigned RF-capable remote, and quick responsiveness when navigating the user interface; as soon as you press a button on the remote, it reacts. Sony continues to raise the bar in the quality and value of their 4K TV lineup. If you're looking for the best premium Ultra HD TV for the money, look no further. You've found one of the best out there with this Sony x950G.

Amazing TV for HDR movies and sports!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this upon returning a Samsung Q80 that I had owned for 3 days. The two TVs are worlds apart the Sony wins hands down! The color accuracy and contrast out of the box is the best I’ve ever seen in a TV! The picture processing and motion handling are phenomenal and upscaling is top notch. The two knocks on this tv are the viewing angle and the blooming. First, the blooming (or light bleed) is really only visible on loading screens and cinematic bars. If you’re spending over a $1k on a tv to watch the black bars, I can’t help you. So that shouldn’t even be an issue. If you will be watching your tv from an angle, this may not be the best set or you may want to upgrade to the 75”, which has X-Wide angle tech. Overall, this TV is amazing! It’s everything I have come to expect from a Sony TV over the years!

Love this purchase
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Its been some time since I had purchased a TV and as much as technology has gotten better I've always found something off on the picture's of newer TV's. Quality of picture was always amazing but something would both me with the motion of allot of TV's even as amazing as the picture quality would be. Never found anything that I enjoyed till I saw the Sony's. Yes OLED is great but so is the cost. I was going to get the Sony X900F but when I found out the newer models X950G was coming out I had to compare. Even though it was a little more then what I wanted to spend, it was worth every penny. I've only had it for a few days and I really am enjoying the image quality, the easy setup, sound(but once you try it with a sound bar you won't go back.). Love it! My only issue right now is the Netflix does not work.

Outstanding Picture
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Beautiful TV with best LED picture I've seen short of OLED. Small amount of blooming but not bad. Lots of options for adjustment and calibrated Netflix is unbelievable. Only bad thing, every week or so you do need to turn the set completely off so it can reboot, not sure why but it effects streaming - maybe the cache needs to clear. Complete power off and you are good to go. Love the remote - it controls all equipment. I researched and waited a long time before deciding to buy this and I am extremely happy with my purchase.
